Fångvaktare och medmänniska : En studie om kriminalvårdarens yrkesroll

The discussion of the swedish treatment of offenders often revolves round the two contradictions punishment and care. Modern prison is described to be based on values such as humanity, care and respect, although the main task is to protect the society from criminals by keeping them locked up. This study focused on the role of the prison officer with the purpose of understanding how he sees his profesional role in an organisation influenced by punishment and care.Central questions are: How does the prison officer handle his role as caretaker in an organisation where he not only has the right to, but also is obliged to, controle and power his clients? How does the prison officer define his working role and does he find any dificulties in combining these?The research was realized during the months of April and May 2005 through qualitative interviews and conversations with prison officers working in a swedish prison. It also contained a minor fieldstudy in that same prison.The results showed that the principle conflict between punishment and care have an insignificant influence on the daily work of the prison officer.

SammanfattningBakgrund: Betydelsen av begreppet kultur kan variera. I det här arbetet används begreppet kultur för människor från ett gemensamt ursprung och/eller med gemensamma kulturella uppfattningar. Globaliseringen ökar i Sverige och i världen vilket leder till en stor blandning av människor från olika kulturer, detta ställer höga krav på sjuksköterskan. Att möta och vårda lidande och döende patienter med annan kulturell bakgrund än dem själva kan vara något av det svåraste en sjuksköterska kan ställas inför.Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att beskriva sjuksköterskors upplevelser av att vårda patienter från olika kulturer inom den palliativa vården.Metod: Detta är en litteraturstudie där åtta vårdvetenskapliga tidskriftsartiklar valts ut efter en noggrann granskning av dess innehåll. Artiklarna har hittats i databaserna Cinahl, Pubmed och Medline.

Therefore, it is important that we availability adapt dwelling to allow older people to live in ordinary housing for as long as they wish, instead of moving to assisted living before they need it. The purpose with this study was to get a deeper understanding of how the social welfare secretaries experience the meeting with clients.Our main questions were how the social welfare secretaries thinks about their own way to behave in the meeting with clients, which difficulties/obstacles there can be a and which factors they think affect the meeting. What is it that makes the social welfare secretaries experience a meeting as good or less good.Theory used: ?naive theory? and ?theory of communication?. The social welfare secretaries emphasised the importance of respect and clarity in their relations with the clients. Nurse´s basic responsibility is caring, for her/him it´s important to prevent the shock for the patient that can appear. Aim: Describe the nursing staff responses to the patient, using the patient´s perspective in relation to bad news. Method: A litterture review has been made with nine articles. Current research materials that meet the study´s purpose has been applied in databases and analyzed.

This thesis has been done in collaboration with Peab Stockholm Building 3, which is a region within the Peab Sverige AB. The report is based on a survey and studies of Peab business management systems and production literature. For general information gathering has literature from well-known sources collected in libraries and through the Internet. It shows through the work that Peab has routines for experience feedback in the construction process, but that these procedures work in a small scale and the practical work experience feedback does not work at all. This is also something the construction industry in general also perceived as problematic. The questions in the report are of a wide scale and concerns construction errors cost, how the employees perceive that the company takes advantage of the skills and the mental stress in production line. Skönlitteratur for slukaråldern Ur ett vuxenperspektiv: Några barnbibliotekariers och grundskolelärares syn på barnlitteratur.

The aim of this master's thesis is to investigate how adults and especially children's librarians and intermediate level teachers experience children's literature. The aim is also to examine how children at the age of nine to twelve experience the literature that is written for them, according to a few master's theses written at Bibliotekshögskolan in Boras. Which criteria in children's books do the different groups consider as the most important, that the children can learn something when reading or is it the experience of the literature itself that is the most important? To fulfil the aim of this master's thesis I have interviewed three intermediate level teachers and three children's librarians and the result has been analysed using a model created by Maria Nikolajeva that shows four ways to get close to children's literature. My study is too small to be counted as a general result but it shows that both the children's librarians and the intermediate level teachers mainly ends up in the field that concerns the reading experience one can have when reading fiction.

Allmännsjuksköterskans palliativa omvårdnadsarbete med cancersjuka patienter : En litteraturstudie

Syfte: Syftet med litteraturstudien var att beskriva allmänsjuksköterskans palliativa omvårdnadsarbete med cancersjuka patienter. Metod: Deskriptiv litteraturstudie baserad på 15 artiklar som sökts i databaserna PubMed och Cinahl. Analysen identifierade fyra huvudkategorier som ligger till grund för resultatet. Huvudresultat: Att arbeta med palliativ vård är ett arbete som sjuksköterskor anser påverkar patienter inom flera olika aspekter, både fysiskt, psykiskt, socialt och andligt. Ett sätt som sjuksköterskan kan hjälpa patienten är att informera och utbilda patienter vilket har visat ge en viss lindring hos patientens symtom.

Upplevelse av uppmuntran, självbild, människosyn och stress på arbetsplatsen

That we have a great need to be encouraged is coated in a variety of motivational theories. Despite our awareness of this need, studies show that Swedish employees feel a lack of encouragement in the workplace. The purpose of this report is to examine the factors that affect our ability to give others encouragement.Empirical data were collected through questionnaires from 91 people in the workplace. Correlation between the experience of giving and receiving encouragement, self-image, outlook on mankind and stress in the workplace are examined using a linear Multiple Regression Analysis. Correlation between the experience of giving and receiving encouragement is examined using Pearsons test of correlation.The results show that there is no significant correlation between the experience of giving and receiving encouragement, self-image, outlook on mankind and stress.

Livskvalitet hos patienter med cancersjukdom i palliativ vård

Statistik från år 2002 visade att 24,6 miljoner människor i världen lever med cancersjukdom. Sjuksköterskor möter många av dessa patienter i det dagliga omvårdnadsarbetet. En stor del av vårdarbetet är medicinskt inriktat men betydelsen av upplevd livskvalitet hos patienter med cancersjukdom har visat sig ha stor betydelse för både behandling och sjukdomsförlopp. Livskvalitet omfattar upplevelser och känslor inom individen. Att mäta upplevd livskvalitet kan vara svårt då det är en individuell upplevelse.

Sjuksköterskors upplevelser av att vårda äldre personer som uppvisar beteendemässiga och psykologiska symtom vid demenssjukdom : en intervjustudie

The aim: was to describe and compare a group of experts and critical care nurses' agreement in detecting delirium in intubated, ventilator treated patients with sedation / analgesia, before and after an in house training intervention with the instrument Confusion Assessment Method for the Intensive Care Unit (CAM-ICU).Method: A quasi-experimental study, one group pretest - posttest design. A convenience sample of 17 critical care nurses in a general intensive care unit included. To detect delirium the instrument CAM-ICU was used, 21 paired tests before and 22 after an educational intervention.Main Results: The results showed that after an in house training intervention sensitivity and kappa coefficient improved of the characteristic 1 "acute onset and fluctuating course," an improvement that was significant. In other features, and overall values were signs of numerical improvement and deterioration in sensitivity, specificity and kappa coefficient but no significant change.Conclusion: Implementing a new instrument for detecting delirium in clinical practice requires education and follow-up. A small sample of critical care nurses with varying ability to use the new instrument and the fact that patients' status may change rapidly making it difficult to draw any conclusions from this study.

Background: The goal of psychiatric nursing interventions is to enhance people?s ability tocope with feelings of futility, to get control of their lives and to learn coping strategies inorder to manage their mental illness and its consequences. Specialist nurses in psychiatric carecoordinate and direct nursing care based on evidence-based knowledge.Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate what kind of nursing acts specialist nurses usein the psychiatric inpatient unit and investigate how they perceive their professional role.Method: The design used was a descriptive qualitative interview study. Nine specialist nursesworking in psychiatric inpatient units were interviewed. Six of the participants were womenand three were men aged 28-53 years.
