Demens är en sjukdom som ökar i samhället till följd av att den äldre populationen ökar. Sjukdomen innebär ofta en försämrad livskvalitet för den drabbade samtidigt som det leder till samhällsekonomiska konsekvenser.  Vanligt förekommande beteendeförändringar är exempelvis oro, aggressivitet samt depression. Läkemedel är en vanlig förekommande åtgärd vid beteendeförändringar, men innebär ofta negativa konsekvenser såsom oönskade bieffekter samt onödiga kostnader. Musik är därför ett alternativt sätt till läkemedel för att lindra beteendeförändringar, då musiken skapar en lugn atmosfär och en meningsfull tillvaro. Syftet med litteraturstudien var därför att beskriva musikens påverkan på personer med demenssjukdom.Resultatet visade en lindring av oro, fysisk- och verbal aggressivitet samt depression efter det att personer med demens lyssnade på musik.

This is a qualitative study with a hermeneutic and partially inductive approach. The study?s purpose is to enhance the understanding of young adults experiences of unemployment and the importance of being employed. In this study, eight young adults participate in the project Framtid Kronoberg. The youths are 19-25 years of age.

Integration policies have failed to make diversity into anything more than occupying the same physical space. People of different cultural background still do not share their lives to any real extent. Attempts made within planning and landscape architecture to catalyst the integration process have mainly been focused on structural measures, such as residential policies. As for outdoor environments, non-verbal casual encounters in the shape of crossing paths are assumed to lie at the heart of urban social integration.The aim of the thesis is to question this assumption and, as the thesis will show, there is literature supporting this aim. Looking at the works of Gordon Allport, Lewis Coser and some of their followers, I find intercultural contact to require more complex ways of interaction in order to reduce prejudice and to generate tolerance and understanding.

Music has always been an important form of communication and it can be found in many different contexts including aesthetical, cultural and emotional forms. In the globalized society of today music can be distributed fast through radio, TV, CD: s and the Internet. For many people consumption of music is an important part of the daily life and it can contribute to shape an individual?s attitudes and personality.The main purpose of this study is to find out whether there are any differences between men and women?s musical preferences. I will apply an explorative approach using qualitative interviews to describe what causes the differences.

Sveriges befolkning blir allt äldre och i takt med detta ökar andelen personer med demens och deras behov av vård. Svårigheter med att hantera beteendestörningar såsom aggression och agitation hos personer med demens har visat sig vara ett problem för vårdpersonal. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie har varit att samman-ställa aktuell vetenskaplig litteratur avseende vad som är viktigt i omvårdnaden av personer med demenssjukdom som uppvisar problematiska beteenden samt att undersöka vilket stöd vårdpersonalen behöver för att på ett professionellt sätt kun-na bemöta dessa personer. En systematisk litteraturstudie genomfördes utefter Goodmans sju forskningssteg (SBU, 1993), där vetenskapliga artiklar hittades efter sökningar i databaserna PubMed och Cinahl. Resultatet redovisar vikten av att som vårdpersonal försöka finna eventuella bakomliggande orsaker till de prob-lematiska beteendena samt att utforma omvårdnad som anpassas till individen.

We, the authors of this essay are both students at the Bachelor Programme in Social Work at Malmö Högskola. During our education we have been reflecting on the gender perspective that is suppose to permeate the education. This essay aim to examine how some students at the Bachelor Programme in Social Work at Malmö Högskola, who identify themselves as GLBT , experience how questions regarding sex/gender and sexuality are spoken about during their education. We have a discursive perspective on how we understand norms and power of words and language. From a queerteorethic point of view we explain sex/gender and sexuality.

On the 11th of march 2006, the journal Landskrona Posten began an article series with the ambition to review the juvenile gangs in the city of Landskrona. The articles received heavy response from the readers. About six months later Landskrona was the centre of attention in the Swedish media. 22,3 percent of the city's population had voted for the nationalist party ?Sverigedemokraterna? in the municipal election.

The study has answered the questions to what extent people with disabilities are involved in SVT- and TV4- news reports and how people with disabilities are represented in news reports. The material is based on 140 news items.The study has demonstrated that news reports SVT and TV4 have different grades of misconceptions about disabled people. Disabled people are constantly being reinforced by negative disabling terms, the disability being of central importance for the news broadcast and they still occur in stereotypical depictions. Through the image of disabled people forms the bed-rock on which the attitudes towards, assumptions and expectations of disabled people are based on. They are fundamental to discrimination and exploitation that people with disabilities face on a daily basis, and contributes significantly to their systematic exclusion from mainstream society.

Inom demensvård är en trygg miljö av betydelse för människor med demens. Det används både medicinsk och terapeutisk behandling för att öka välbefinnande hos personer med demens. För att tillämpa musik och musikterapi i vården är det viktigt att ha kunskap om dess betydelse för personer med demens. När en person insjuknar i demens förändras dennes liv och det medför ett växande behov av omvårdnad. Personer med demens förmåga att kommunicera försämras och samspelet med omgivningen minskar.

The aim of this undergraduate thesis was to study what the participation in the activities of the Fontain House in Stockholm means to its members. The research questions dealt with how the members describe their participation in the activities, whether they say that it has helped them, and, in that case, in which way. Furthermore, they dealt with how the members argue about their experiences of mental illness and of social help. The study was carried out within the framework of the narrative method. As tools for analyzing the narratives, parts of An-tonovsky?s theories as well as the theoretical concepts of inclusion and exclusion as described by Madsen, were used.

Bakgrund: Beteendeförändringar som exempelvis ökad aggression, agitation och vandring är vanliga vid demens. Hur en demenssjuk person blir bemött har stor påverkan på hans eller hennes funktionsnivå. Oförmåga att arbeta personcentrerat kan leda till försämrad funktion och ökat lidande för patienter med demenssjukdom. Syfte: Belysa personcentrerad vård av patienter med demenssjukdom utifrån frågeställningarna ?vad är utmärkande för personcentrerad vård av patienter med demenssjukdom enligt vårdpersonalen?? och ?vilka effekter har personcentrerad vård för patienter med demenssjukdom??. Metod: Litteraturstudie baserad på kvantitativa och kvalitativa vetenskapliga artiklar som valdes ut enligt bestämda inklusions- och exklusionskriterier. Innehåll i artiklarna som svarade på syftet analyserades och kategoriserades. Resultat: Kärnan i personcentrerad vård ansågs vara att befrämja bevarande av personlighet och ett vanligt liv.

The aim of this study is to explore how sports journalism can include and/or exclude athletics from a national community. This study put emphasis on finding patterns from articles by Swedish sport media on non-ethnic Swedish athletics. The theories central to this study are ethnicity and nationalism, as these concepts contain reflections on why certain groups of people are excluded and/or included. Norman Faircloghs critical discourse analytical model has been selected for the study method that analyzes texts in three levels: the text level, discursive practice and social practice. Four non-ethnic Swedish athletes have been chosen to explore how they were portrayed in the media.

The purpose of our examination was to survey how one preschool works with so called language groups, if the mother tongue is important and if the informants can see any complex of problems in the inclusive/exclusive way of working with language groups in the preschool. The literature review provides for example the three most important areas of mother tongue, which are the emotional, the social and the intellectual (Ladberg, 2000). Further it describes the difference between the conceptions integration and inclusion, when today the concept inclusion is preferred (Tøssebro, 2004). We were inspired by qualitative interviews as our method and from a phenomenographic perspective described the informants? perceptions about the named phenomenon.

During the study's first stage we noticed that the Swedish term ? utanförskap? was constructed for political purposes, the term?s ambiguity what was first raised our interest. Therefore the aims of this study was to examine how social workers at the social welfare office and the labor market related project Framtid Kronoberg  as well as politicians within the administration of Arbete & Välfärd (Work & Welfare) relates to utanförskap as a social phenomenon. The study?s second aim was to examine how the aforementioned persons consider utanförskap to be counteracted among young adults.
