Researchers in the field of political corruption generally expect voters in democratic states to lose trust in corrupted politicians. However, there are cases where corrupted politicians maintain their popularity, a phenomenon studied in this thesis. Focus lies on three cases of political corruption: the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi who has been the subject of several judicial investigations and court cases; the impeached former president of Lithuania, Rolandas Paksas; and the German Christian Democratic Union's (CDU) involvement in a party funding scandal. The cases are chosen based on the method of agreement. Berlusconi, Paksas and CDU have all, in spite of their corrupt behaviour, kept or regained popular support among a large group of their country's citizens.

This study in Environmental Science examines the amendment of the EU-Directive on. Greenhouse gas emission allowance trading. The Directive is to be considered as a tool for fulfilling the obligations that the Union and its member countries have taken on through the 1997 Kyoto agreement together with the protocols proposed at that time. The flexible mechanisms of the protocol are intended as instruments for limiting the climatic changes arising from anthropogenic sources, emission allowance trading being one of these mechanisms. The results presented here consist primarily of an analysis of interviews with various experts in the field of emission control concerning the possibilities and problems attending the process of implementation.

DEKRA Industrial has identifieda need for quality assurance of the method and development of a written procedure withguidelines that lead to more uniform ways of testing.A literature study was done to get a general overview of nondestructive testing (NDT) and tosee how the method is used in different applications. European and American standards werestudied. Analytical and numerical solutions, involving flow simulation, were deemed to berather difficult and beyond the scoop of this project. The Sweden Democrats uses a term to describe a situation where ?swedes? are being discriminated against by other ethnic groups and where the elite is promoting this. The term ?svenskfientlighet? can be translated as ?swedofobia? and in this thesis a speech by the party leader Jimmie Åkesson held during the election campaign that solely was dedicated to this term is being analyzed with the help of tools developed by the scholar Ruth Wodak. Ruth Wodak has previously analyzed the rhetoric by other European right-wing-populist parties like FPÖ in Austria and has asked for other researchers to analyze the speech used by right-wing-populist and extremist parties to get a better understanding for just how these parties construct their different enemies.

Internship is a new form of interaction between the academic world and the market and a phenomena increasingly popular among elite universities in Europe. The educational system has traditionally kept an academic approach where the institutions for higher education have acted isolated without extensive influence from the market. Today pressure from the market has led to intensified interaction between the universities and companies among many European elite universities. We have carried out a situational analysis concerning interaction between the academic institutions and companies in Europe. More specifically, we looked at the potential for Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) to strengthen its position on the educational market by adjusting its strategies and implement internships as a part of the education.

År 2005 inleddes förhandlingar med Turkiet gällande medlemskap i Europeiska Unionen, detta efter en synnerligen lång process av anpassningar från den turkiska sidan. I den svenska riksdagen jublades det från höger till vänster då man enligt egen utsago länge varit en förkämpe för Turkiets inkorporering i den europeiska gemenskapen. Slutligen skulle Turkiet, detta stora muslimska land i öst en gång ansett som ett av de största hoten mot Västerlandet bli en del av detsamma; men kan man i realiteten bli det? Ser Västerlandet i allmänhet och Sverige i synnerhet verkligen på Turkiet som på vilket annat land som helst, eller bär orden inom diskursen på djupt rotade föreställningar om landet? Det är detta som studien utifrån ett teoretiskt ramverk bestående av Edward Saids Orientalism och den postkoloniala teoribildningen ämnar behandla; kan man i den svenska politiska diskursen kring Turkiet finna spår av föreställningar hemmahörande i kolonialismen och orientalismen?Turkiet har inte ett lika tydligt kolonialt förflutet som många andra länder; inte heller har Sverige någon djupt gående historia av kolonialism på det direkta viset. Att då applicera teorier tydligt förknippade med och sprungna ur kolonialismen som maktfenomen på dessa länder kan te sig något avigt; denna uppsats menar motsatsen.
