Svenska sojabönor - finns marknadsmöjligheter?
The large-scale soy cultivation has negative consequences for the habitat of local populations because of the intensive use of pesticides and the destruction of rain forests and eco-systems. GM soya, varieties are often used. The majority of Swedish people, however, do not want GM products in their food. It will be hard in future to ensure GM free food, particularly foods that come from countries where GM crops are grown on a large scale. It is very difficult to avoid cross- contamination when both GM and non-GM crops are grown in the same area.
Behov av managementverktyg i mjölkproduktionen :
For the company to work well, it is necessary with a good economy, a high qualitative production and a well working system concerning the environment: the whole cycle on the farm needs to be working. At the same time, debaters about the Environmental impacts are also requiring higher demands for the dairy farmers and therefore also the management programs. Management programs for feed evaluation calculations have been more developed over the years. Big amounts have been invested in the new feeding system with NorFor, but no one seems to have asked the dairy farmers what they themselves want to spend their money on, and what they need help with. For the dairy farmers it is necessary that the whole company is controlled in the right way, and much more than just feed evaluation is included in this.
Koldioxidavgång vid ekologisk odling på organogen jord
The background of this work is the media discussion about the effect of cultivation on peatsoils on greenhouse gas emissions. It has been argued that row sown and intensivelycultivated crops such as carrots are more likely to emit carbon dioxide than for example grassleys. The association KRAV (an association promoting organic farming) shall, from this yearadapt their Environmental policy to be more climate smart and have asked the question if thecultivation of some crops is more climate smart than others? Carbon dioxide emissions fromsoil are due to degradation of organic material and the rate is controlled by microbial activity. The microbial activity is determined by a variety of factors such as temperature, soil organicmatter quality and water content. I have measured the carbon dioxide emission from fourdifferent crops at two different farms.
Att dela perspektiv på marken : om kommunikation mellan naturreservatshandläggare och berörda markägare
How do the administrators of nature reserves experience the communication with the land owners concerned? The article is a qualitative study within the Environmental communication subject. The study has been performed through qualitative interviews with administrators of nature reserves. Being in action the administrators must know how to communicate with people. The result of the study shows the administrators lack a language to describe their experience of the communication with the landowners.

Miljöbyggnad i ombyggnadsprocessen : Miljöcertifiering av Jakobsbergsskolan i Kristinehamn
Climate change is an increasingly widely known concept. In the EU the construction sector is responsible for more than a third of the carbon dioxide emissions and 40 % of the total energy use. In Sweden, measures have been taken to prevent this climate change. By 16 targets, three of which can be linked to the construction sector, Sweden will reduce the negative trend. None of the three goals with relation to the construction sector will however be achieved before 2020.
Ett kandidatexamensarbete inom lättviktskonstruktioner .
Due to recent legal enactments regarding carbon dioxide emissions, the car industry is facing higher demands. An effective way of reducing these emissions is to minimize the weight of the vehicle. This thesis constitutes a feasibility study on whether or not it is applicable for the car industry to utilize an inner floor structure comprising composite materials. The principal was the projectSåNätt, in which the main participant was Volvo Cars Corp. In consultation with a reference group, consisting of delegates from the industry and KTH, a specification of requirements was produced.
The purpose has been to, by the means of literature studies and conversation,
give landscape architects, teachers or other interested people an increased understanding
of school gardens as a phenomenon. One episode in the essay describes
school garden?s historical background and how its ideology has changed as the
society has developed. A conversation with a spokesperson for Södermalmsskolan
in Stockholm, depict how a communal public school handles the management
of a school garden today. I have also wanted to present the conditions that society
and the schools organisation has put on the management of the garden on this
particular school.
In the year of 2007 Södermalmsskolan got the opportunity to found its school
garden thanks to the Environmental campaigns that were realized by the city of
Stockholm.
Garbage to gardens : design proposals for two decentralised waste management units in Pune, India
The population growth and urbanisation in low-income countries bring issues of poor living standards and miserable sanitation conditions onto the agenda. If well-functioning waste management systems were developed, this could master some of the problems. The already existing local informal waste handling system that is common in many low-income countries, needs to be developed with proper sorting and composting solutions to decrease the Environmental burden and improve the overall situation in the dense cities.
This master?s thesis project is performed with the intention of developing functional decentralised waste management units in the city of Pune, India.
Hygienisk kvalitet hos svensk älgfärs med avseende främst på förekomst av koagulaspositiva stafylokocker och Escherichia coli :
In this study the hygienic quality of minced moose meat was examined with
regard to the prevalence of different bacteria. The methods used are
described in NMKL, "Nordic Method Committee for Food". The results show
that the levels of Escherichia coli and coagulase positive
staphylococci in the meat are too high. The reason for this might be Environmental
factors, such as high temperature and humidity during the time when the
carcasses are hanging and when the meat is cut up..

RTLS - real time location systems : an inventory study for agriculture applications and requirements
The trend towards increasingly large farming units raises questions regarding how to better monitor production. Larger units make the impact from possible errors more severe, which increases the pressure on management supervision. To cope with management issues, prevent errors and handle increased demands on traceability and documentation, the Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) concept is making its way into various parts of agriculture.
In sectors outside agriculture, RTLS are already being used successfully to track and locate items through nodes at different levels of accuracy, such as room level or the relative or absolute position. Empirical data can be received in real time from the nodes.
MATSVINN FÖRSVINN - En kvantitativ studie om hur ett CSR-argument kan involvera konsumenten i kampen mot matsvinn i butik
Every year 67000 tons of food is wasted by Swedish retail stores. The waste implies financial losses for the retailer and it has a huge impact on the global environment. Reducing in-store food waste is thus a win-win situation for both retailers and society. The most effective way to reduce waste is primarily by optimizing the logistics of supply, but customers expect a store with a wide range of products and stuffed shelves. Thus there will always be products about to expire.
VINDKRAFTSETABLERINGAR : EN JÄMFÖRANDE STUDIE OM NÄRBOENDES INSTÄLLNING TILL VINDKRAFT OCH VINDKRAFTSETABLERINGAR I SVERIGE OCH BRASILIEN
To achieve a sustainable development, three aspects have to take equal place in the society; Environmental, economical and social. To reduce the impact on the environment and the amount of greenhouse gases supplied to the atmosphere, industrialized countries and less developed countries must start cooperating. Also the use of renewable energy sources, like solar, hydro and wind power, have to increase.Wind power has great potential as a future energy supply. It is cost efficient, quickly developed and the resource is abundant and available worldwide.Examinations made in Sweden, indicates that there are difficulties establishing wind power at the same pace as the Environmental goals, set by the Swedish government, requires. Mainly because people living nearby potential areas for wind power farms, appeal against the decision. This study aims to investigate differences between how people in Sweden and Brazil look at wind power as a future energy source and at the establishing process.
Green feed in the marine fish farming : how to communicate water benchmarks to stakeholders
Global catch fishery is said to been oppressed to its limit (Boyd & Schmittou, 1999), further implying aquaculture might be the only solution to the world demand for fishery products. The applied term aquaculture in this paper refers to the one used by NOAA (2008); breeding, rearing, and harvesting of plants and animals in all kind of water environments, including but not limited to ponds, rivers, lakes, and the ocean. According to Shamshak & Anderson (2008, p. 74) aquaculture has over the past 20 years been the fastest growing food sector with an average annual growth rate of 8.7%. It further represents approximately 37 % (Shamshak & Anderson, 2008, p.
