Scania is among the leading companies in the heavy vehicle industry. Scania also assemble Engines for their trucks and buses, as well as to external marine and industrial applications. Wrongly assembled parts leads to quality problems, which makes it important to secure that the assembly is correct. To do this Design For Assembly (DFA) is used to describe how parts should become easier to assemble. Scania?s production unit for Engine assembly has had a working method for DFA in the shape of a checklist, which is not used.

Urban planning is not only a matter of architectural trends; it is first and foremost political. This thesis seeks to understand the links between political ideas and visions for the city and the physical structure of the city. The study aims to construct a model to help understand these links, a helpful tool in analysing a city, focusing on the one hand at the physical structure of what I call "The City as a Welfare Provider" and on the other hand at "The City as a Growth Engine". It also sets out to test this model in an empirical study of Stockholm and the soon-to-be built district of Norra Station in the same city.The analysis shows that Stockholm has ambitions to be a welfare provider to its citizens, but have also adopted to a discourse of interurban competition which stresses the importance for the city to enhance economical growth. What is interesting is that the physical structures promoted in the planning documents of Stockholm are nearly exclusively those associated with the model of "The City as a Growth Engine"..

The aim of this thesis was to study librarians approach upon reference questions and available resources and also to find out if there is any connection between the nature of the reference question and the choice of resource. The purpose was also to give a deeper understanding of the reference work. Nine librarians were given ten reference questions and their reference work was tape recorded. The study was completed with seven interviews sent by email. Some of the reflections were translated under the headlines of form, subject, time, language and availability.

The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to evaluate three general query-based web search Engines. The search Engines chosen are Google, Yahoo! and Live Search. The topics, which where transformed into twenty queries, are based on real users? information needs, taken from an ask-a-question service.

This thesis considers the problems associated with searches in insufficiently geographically tagged data. The thesis was carried out at Booli Search Technologies AB, a company developing a search Engine for the Swedish real estate market.The aim of the thesis is to identify some areas of possible improvements of the company?s existing technical platform, perform a benchmarking among similar services, suggest possible solutions and lastly, build a prototype from one of the suggested solutions.The thesis starts out with defining the problems that the search Engine faces: some areas are not possible to perform searches on, the users are not presented with the full search result that they expect, some results are placed incorrectly on the map associated with the search results and results are also not described with enough geographical information. These problems are due to the fact that the data retrieved at the indexing stage in the company?s information retrieval process are insufficient and incomplete.As a result of a benchmarking process and after discussing the results, severalinteresting solutions were identified.

The purpose of this essay is to perform an evaluation regarding retrieval performance of three web search Engines. The search Engines included are All the Web, Alta Vista and Google. These have been tested using ten queries within different subject areas chosen by the author. The first twenty hits for each question have been analyzed for relevancy. Relevancy is judged on a three-point scale; 0, 0,5 and 1 where 0 goes to irrelevant and inactive or duplicate documents, 0,5 point goes to partially relevant documents and 1 point goes to highly relevant documents.

The projects goal was to make an already existing indoor positioning system useful forthe average smartphone user. This was achieved by creating an Android applicationwhich, along with a running server, continuously presents the user with all the currentneeded information. Syftet med undersökningen är att kartlägga skaderiskerna med att arbeta som marin maskinpersonal och jämföra skaderisken med anställda som har liknande arbeten iland. Undersökningen inbegriper även att kartlägga vilka typer av arbetsskador, som ger de mest allvarliga konsekvenserna för den anställde i förhållande till hur vanlig olyckan är.Undersökningen är en litteraturstudie där Arbetsmiljöverkets arbetsskadeanmälningar utgör grundmaterialet, där totalt 198 arbetsskador behandlades och kategoriserades. Transportstyrelsens statistik för ombordanställda jämfördes med Arbetsmiljöverket och Statistiska centralbyrån statistik över anställda iland. Detta för att se vilken yrkeskategori som hade högst skaderisk.Resultatet av undersökningen visar att arbetsolyckor under kategorierna ?Bära? och ?Halka/Snubbla/Trilla? och arbetssjukdomar under kategorin ?Tunga lyft/Arbetsställningar? är de arbetsskador, som ger de mest allvarliga konsekvenserna i förhållande till hur vanlig arbetsskadan är.

A cars powertrain consists of everything that is needed for its propulsion. The components in the driveline that transfer the power from the Engine to the driven wheels are not absolutely stiff, hence they will wind up due to the torque and act as torsion springs. If you suddenly demand a bigger torque by stepping on the accelerator pedal, a so called tip in manoeuvre, and that torque is acquired from the Engine as quickly as possible, the driveline will not be able to transfer that fast torque change due to its weakness and as a result it will start to oscillate. These oscillations will be transferred to the driven wheels and make the car to accelerate jerkily which will be experienced as uncomfortable by the passengers. Furthermore, there is a backlash in the driveline that will make the weakness in the driveline even more excited than it should have been if the backlash did not existed.To avoid too big problems with these oscillations there is a control system that controls the demanded torque.

The purpose of this MSc thesis is to examine the retrieval effectiveness of two Web search Engines with queries from the academic discipline of Classical Studies. The two search Engines are chosen to represent two different types Google as a broad general search Engine and Argos as a specialised search Engine for the subject of Classical Studies. The search Engines are compared for precision among the first twenty results returned for thirty queries. In order to avoid bias in the study, the queries are based on real users' information needs. Due to the subjective character of the concept of relevance, the study is performed with five different experiments with five different definitions of relevance.

Purpose/Aim: To find power structures within the blog network.Material/Method: Using keywords to find all available blog posts about the National Defence Radio Establishment from the blog search Engine Twingly, and thereafter using the same blog search Engine to find inlinks from other blogs, to those posts. The data is set into the context of the small-world networks models of Duncan J. Watts and rich-club models of Sergi Valverde och Ricard V. Sole.Main results: 5183 unique blogs have written about the subject in 22779 blog posts to which 28128 inlinks from other blogposts are made. Just over one fifth of the blogs are linkted to each other in one big network, where the remaining blogs stand without any ingoing or outgoing links.

Compressed air is an energy source that is widely used in today's trucks and buses.Compressor located next to the Engine supplies the pneumatic system with the compressed air and is lubricated with the Engine oil. Some of the oil follows the air flow in both liquid and solid phase. The solid phase, namely the carbon particles are created due to the high temperature in the compression chamber.Oil- and particles carryover softens and destroys the rubber material in the air valves and disturbs the mechanical function of various components in the pneumatic system. In order to reduce oil- and particles carryover is an Air Processing System (APS) set downstream the compressor.No method for establishment of oil- and particles carryover from the compressor exists at the moment. Therefore the filtration efficiency of APS is currently unknown.

AbstractMotor sports have been around as long as motor vehicles have been. Sports are often seen as costly polluter but in the same time the motor sports have encourages a large part of development, both for vehicles and other industries. Inventions like rear mirror and ABS brakes come from motor sports. One way to once again drive development forward while making motor sports carbon-neutral is to run the race cars on hydrogen. In this thesis, the goal is to convert a spark ignition Engine for hydrogen operation.
