This paper aims to, through a literature review, examine how to best design and adapt calf huts to meet the calf's physiological requirements and reduce the infection pressure for enteric and respiratory diseases. It illuminates how the calf relates to different temperatures and climate, which temperature control mechanisms it uses and its ability to perform these regulations, as well as providing a summary of the past decades´ research on the calf huts housing system. These two theory chapters, along with a concluding discussion, provide a better understanding of how to, especially in temperate climates, design the most suitable calf hut, which cater to the calf's both thermal comfort and physical health. The literature suggests that the calf's own temperature control works well to counteract the temperature outside the desired range, and that one of the most important factors rather is ventilation of a calf hut, which reduces moisture and pathogens. The conclusion of this paper is mainly that there is not an obvious way to place and construct a calf hutch and that most design principles contribute to both positive and negative effects simultaneously.

Former studies have shown that a considerable part of industries? energy usage can stem from idle times in the production. This thesis, carried out at Siemens Industry sector, evaluates the potential for using the control system to automatically put machines into energy saving mode during idle times. The main part of the thesis consists of a case study performed on machine tools at a Scania production site in Södertälje. Through load measurements the potential for energy savings was determined.The results show that there is a great potential for energy savings during idle times at the site.

Tail-biting in pigs is an animal welfare issue and in Sweden during 2002 the producers lost tree million Swedish crowns because of tail biting. This economic loss depends on the pigs which are discarded at slaughter because of tail biting. Tail biting can be separated into two stages, "pre-injury" and "injury". The aim of this study is to investigate if tail biting depends on environment or genetic background.A lot of research on the environments effects on the behaviour of pigs but not so much on the genetic effects has been performed. The frequency of tail biting in pig farms influence among others of environment enrichment, ventilation, gender and breed of the pig.

Tången 2 is a building situated in Stockholm, Sweden. It´s built in the 1930s and contains both residences and businesses. The property owner, Diligentia AB, wants to lower the energy use in Tången 2. This report consists of an energy audit which clarifies the specific circumstances linked to Tången 2. Collected knowledge is then used, together with the results from the literature study, to decide energy measures to proceed with.

Design of a house requires knowledge of both technology and economics. Heating and ventilation shall be designed, costs are calculated and estimated and requirements must be fulfilled. Which heating system is to be elected is also a difficult choice, especially with rising energy prices as a factor.The choice of energy system is not always given, because it depends on several factors. Below is a comparison between district heating, geothermal heat pump and electric boiler from an economic standpoint. In a previous report appears district heating and geothermal heat pump as the best options.

Jag har gjort mitt examensarbete hos Leonhard Nilsen & Sönner AS (LNS) på anlägget Rana Gruber som ligger i Storforshei kommun några mil utanför Mo i Rana. LNS är Nord-Norges största entreprenör. Jag har valt att lägga focus på luftkvaliten i underjordsdelen inom gruvannlägningen. Arbetet innefattar problem som kan uppstå i en djup gruva men även förslag till förbättringar. Gruvans nivåer har två luftschakt som förser gruvan med luft för att förse annläggninger med frisktluft.

In this paper we have theoretically built a house designed for people with impaired mobility. Theessay begins with an introduction in which the purpose of the work, the methodology and thedepth-research part is presented. Then the layout that explains how we intend to adapt the housefor the demands detailed in the depth-research part is presented. In the same chapter variousstructural components, such as different floors and walls, are specified.In the selection of materials we have taken into account the criteria of our specialization andadaptation to the aesthetic aspects, where we evaluate materials based upon our wishes regardingtechnique and form. There are also other aspects that are important in the selection of materials,including that these are adapted to technical traits of the construction elements and installations.In a later chapter the technical installations such as ventilation systems, heating systems,electricity and sanitation are presented, where both technical and financial aspects are describedin detail.

This candidate.?s work includes designing of a house with it.?s structural components andinstallations. The house had to be actual with Building Regulations (Boverkets Byggregler).Beside designing of all the crucial systems necessary for completing of claimed regulations evenan optional topic within building engineering had to be chosen.The task included designing of heating, ventilation, sanitation and electricity systems. Structuralengineering models has been made in compliance with Eurocodes. Materials for facades, floorsand roof were chosen and evaluated.As recessed portion of the work, evaluating of possibilities in designing of a glass roof waschosen.

Ekonomiska aspekter och krav på minskad energianvändning leder bland annat till tilläggsisolering av vindsbjälklag och byte av uppvärmningssystem. Åtgärderna ger ett kallare och fuktigare klimat på vinden vilket gynnar mögeltillväxt. Minst 60 % av alla traditionella vindar med självdrag kan anses ha riklig tillväxt av mögelsvamp (Ahrenens och Borglund 2007). Syftet med denna studie är att ta ett steg i rätt riktning om vilka åtgärder som kan göras på de vindar som idag är angripna.I denna studie har tre vindars fukttillstånd utretts och jämförts. Ett av objekten har simulerats och utsatts för olika åtgärder.

A large proportion of the energy consumption is in the building industry and a large part goes to heating our homes and premises. In the developing countries' development now threatens the large consumption of energy in our earth's climate. It is in the West world that we must be good role models in terms of energy efficiency. One solution to reduce energy consumption for heating of buildings may be to continue to build low energy houses and passive houses, but it is also about rebuilding the buildings that currently have high energy consumption such as the old Million program Houses. These buildings will be standing many years and their energy consumption will not diminish over time by itself and energy prices will certainly not diminish in the future.

Bakgrund: Många av patienterna på en neurointensivvårdsavdelning (NIVA) vårdas med respirator under en längre eller kortare period av vårdtiden. Neurointensivvårdspatienterna bedöms ibland utifrån de kriterier för urträning och extubering som används på allmänna intensivvårdspatienter. Detta kan leda till för tidig extubation med reintubation som följd. Syfte: Redogöra för vilka kriterier som ska bedömas hos neurointensivvårdspatienter inför en extubering. Metod: Litteraturstudie.

?Our common future? heter rapporten som skrevs av Världskommissionen (1987). Rapporten som senare lade grunden till begreppet hållbar utveckling. Utifrån hållbar utveckling så har begreppet CSR myntats. Ett begrepp som används bland företag för att beskriva arbetet utifrån ekonomiska sociala och miljömässiga aspekter.

I detta examensarbete undersöks potentiella åtgärder för att energieffektivisera havsvattensakvariet Havets Hus, beläget på Sveriges västkust. Driftsförhållandena på Havets Hus har kartlagts och beräkningar och datasimuleringar utförts för att fastställa åtgärdsförslag med syfte att effektivisera energiförbrukningen i anläggningen.Klimatdata och energiförbrukningsstatistik har samlats in och redovisas. Mätningar och beräkningar på anläggningen har utförts för att fastställa driftsförhållandena. Utgående från driftsförhållandena har datasimuleringsmodeller skapats med vars hjälp beräkningar görs för att åskådliggöra effekterna av föreslagna åtgärder.Driftsförhållandena för ett publikt havsvattensakvarium med stor variation på både besökarantal och temperatur på ingående havsvatten är unika. De är inte direkt jämförbara med driftsförhållandena i andra anläggningar i Sverige utan påminner mera om den avfuktningsproblematik som uppstår i länder med tropiskt klimat.Resultatet är att den största potentialen att spara energi finns i att byta ut systemet där intagsluften regleras med återluft till ett system med ett variabelt luftflöde.

Denna rapport beskriver energianvändningen vid massa- och pappersbruket SCA Packaging Obbola AB för 2008. För att komma fram till resultat har krävts ett omfattande arbete med att klargöra produktionsprocessen ur ett energiperspektiv. Fabriker av den här typen kan synas vara likartade, i och med att de tar in ved som råvara och tillverkar papper. På grund av specifika förutsättningar och lokala lösningar på processproblem så krävs dock ett gediget undersökande arbete för att förstå processen. En stor del av insamlandet av information har bestått i att undersöka interna dokument samt att genomföra informella intervjuer.

Sweden is considered to have one of the world's highest animal welfare standards in agriculture. Despite this, there are shortcomings in animal husbandry. One example is overcrowding, which is a way to increase stock size without making costly investments in the buildings. It can be carried out systematically to increase profitability or due to, for example uneven calving during the year. The European Commission criticizes the fact that stocking density is not controlled under Swedish welfare inspections.
