Empowerment: ett flytande begrepp?

The purpose of this study was to analyse the concept of Empowerment and its meaning in the political document "En Förnyad Folkhälsopolitik" from the present Swedish government, containing guidelines and politics in the area of public health. The underlying question was if it could be considered as representative for some kind of general "Empowerment approach" since the concept is central to the very definition of social work by the International Federation of Social Workers IFSW and International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW).By comparing its definition and consequences in the document with a historical review of different contexts of Empowerment the conclusion was made that such a common approach doesn´t exist at all. The meaning of Empowerment in the central document showed some similarities with the "northamerican" version of the concept represented by the social scientist Charles Murray, which is just one of the political meanings of Empowerment. Alternative ways of understanding the concept was also presented such as being a tool of a constant conflict between central political principles or as a fashionable but not important word. Another alternative was to consider it a means of power through witch different political discourses tries to dominate the world..

Jana Sanskriti  Forumteater, en väg att skapa empowerment?  : en etnografisk studie

Uppsatsen har som syfte att utifrån Jana Sanskritis arbete, lyfta upp och diskutera forumteaterns möjligheter att skapa Empowerment hos deltagarna. Jana Sanskriti är både en teatergrupp och en rörelse i nordöstra Indien som arbetar med forumteater i den Västbengaliska landsbygden, utifrån en övertygelse att forumteater är en metod som möjliggör en frigörelse från förtryck.   Uppsatsens frågeställningar är: Hur arbetar Jana Sanskriti? Hur kan man skapa Empowerment med forumteater som metod? På vilket/vilka sätt stödjer forumteatermetoden skapandet av Empowerment för deltagarna?  Studien har en etnografisk ansats. Genom fältstudier hos Jana Sanskriti och en diskussion runt gruppens återkommande arbete i byarna med samma forumteaterföreställning har begreppet Empowerment belysts.   Fokus har riktats på föreställningen Shonar Meye som handlar om mäns våld mot kvinnor.  I resultatdelen presenteras Jana Sanskritis arbete, där det också fram- kommer att det är gruppens återkommande besök i byarna med samma  forumteaterföreställning som är den enskilt största faktorn till skapandet av Empowerment. .

Female empowerment genom trädplantering: Hur Green Belt Movement har skapat förutsättningar för demokratisering i Kenya

Den här uppsatsen behandlar kopplingen mellan female Empowerment och demokratisering. Med utgångspunkt i en maximalistisk definition av demokrati, hävdas att female Empowerment är en nödvändig förutsättning för att en demokratiseringsprocess ska kunna lyckas.I uppsatsen analyseras den kenyanska miljöorganisationen Green Belt Movement:s arbete utifrån teorier om female Empowerment. Kvinnor i Kenya är traditionellt underordnade männen och saknar inflytande och möjligheter att styra över sina egna liv. Inom Green Belt Movement har kvinnor fått en ledande roll och givits möjligheten att påverka sin situation. Analysen slår fast att organisationen har lyckats skapa female Empowerment i flera aspekter bland de kvinnor som är aktiva i dess verksamhet.

Distriktssköterskans roll vid empowerment hos äldre individer med diabetes typ 2 : Systematisk Litteraturstudie

Distriktssköterskans roll är av stor betydelse vid införandet av ett Empowerment baserat förhållningssätt gentemot den äldre individen med diabetes typ 2. Empowerment är ett begrepp som uppkommit i samband den humanistiska människosynen och används i syfte att öka patienternas egenvårdsförmåga och självstyre i skötseln av sin diabetes. Livskvalitén ökar av individens delaktighet och självbestämmande, att själv kunna ansvara för sin sjukdom med stöd av distriktssköterskan. Empowerment baserad utbildning i grupp vid återkommande träffar för att få riklig kunskap om diabetes typ 2, med möjlighet till individuella träffar där individerna skapar sina egna mål är av största vikt för att bedriva egenvård. Lagar och författningar som styr distriktssköterskans arbete genomsyras av humanism.

Empowerment - Ett framgångskoncept?

Vårt syfte med detta arbete är att ge en inblick i hur Empowerment som styrkoncept fungerar i praktiken. Detta undersöker vi för att nuvarande och framtida ledare ska få en bättre förståelse för Empowerment och de effekter som uppstår när det används, för att kunna bidra till att de får större nytta av konceptet i framtiden. En hermeneutisk tolkningsmetod är använd för att uppnå det syfte vi har med arbetet. Genomförandet av arbetet är baserat på en kvalitativ metod, där en fallstudie med fem intervjuer utförts. Då arbetet kommit fram till ändpunkten har vi fått en förståelse för att de medarbetare i en organisation som använder Empowerment som styrkoncept till största del ser på konceptet så positivt som teorierna säger om det.

?Du får aldrig plocka bort en dröm? Vad betyder empowerment för arbetskonsulenter, som arbetar med brukarstöd för daglig verksamhet?

Empowerment har speciellt inom vårdsektorn blivit ett centralt begrepp, som samstämmigt anses vara ett otydligt begrepp. Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva hur arbetskonsulenter/stödpersoner upplever och tillämpar begreppet Empowerment i sitt arbete med att få ut brukare/deltagare, med olika psykiska funktionsnedsättningar på arbetsmarknaden. I studien genomfördes sju individuella intervjuer med stödpersoner, som arbetade på varsin enhet inom en privat organisation. Därefter gjordes en tematisk analys. Resultatet pekar på att man i första hand ser Empowerment som något på individnivå där begrepp som brukarinflytande, självständighet, självkänsla, egenmakt, stärkande och bemyndigande är nyckelord.

Empowerment i rehabilitering: rehabiliteringsprocessens möjligheter att skapa personlig kraft

Ökande sjuktal ökar behovet av effektiv rehabilitering. För att kunna förbättra dagens rehabiliteringsinsatser krävs en överblick över deras innehåll och resultat. Ett antagande i denna studie var att om kraftskapande årgärder återfanns i en rehabiliteringsprocess skulle detta återspeglas i en upplevelse av Empowerment hos dem som rehabiliterats. Studiens syfte var att kartlägga några rehabiliteringsaktörers insatser för att se vad dessa gett för resultat i form av Empowerment hos dem som rehabiliterats. Två aktörer studerades, Arbetsförmedlingen och Piteå Kommun.

The overall aim of the paper is to examinehow access to microcredit considered leading to Empowerment of women. To get an idea ofwhat a microloansorganization is the Grameen Bank is used as an example.

Har rock en roll för hälsan? : En fokusgruppsstudie på hur musicerande i grupp inverkar på vuxna deltagarnas välbefinnande och empowerment

The objective of this qualitative study was to contribute to the understanding of how musical activities affect the participants' well-being and Empowerment and to investigate which fac-tors contribute to that effect. Invitations were sent to 13 adult participants in a rock music school in the middle part of Sweden. 7 persons (4 men, 3 women) participated in the study. 4 themes were discussed in focus groups to highlight how informants were affected by the ac-tivity and what factors were important in the context. Results showed that music activities impact on participants' well-being and Empowerment through several factors.Themes that appeared were: 1) focus on the present through music, 2) personal development, 3) meaningful leisure activity 4) the group properties.
