This report deals with the attitudes within municipalities of open source software and open standards and if open source software may be an option to gain open standards. The aim has been to find out if open source software and open standards would be able to solve the lock-in problems that municipalities have against proprietary software. The study is conducted as an exploratory, inductive and qualitative study with depth interviews of subjectively selected informants as data collection method. A literature review has also been implemented by the relevant books and articles. Some economic determinants of municipalities to make use of open source software have not been considered in this study.

The Lugnetgymnasium in Falun has a graphic education that supplies a color printer, which is availablefor the students in their hall. The printer is a Ricoh AFC 6513 and it is a model that can handlevariable data. It was bought in the autumn of 2002. The teachers of the graphic education want to makeuse of the variable data function and procure a variable data software. The purpose of this project is toevaluate variable data software?s, so that the most suitable choice of software can be made for the graphiceducation.

Detta kan göra att systemen är dyra att underhålla, inte uppträder som förväntat eller inte går att införa ny funktionalitet i. Dessa system är i regel väsentliga för organisationens verksamhet och bör därför inte nyutvecklas för då riskerar organisationen förlust av verksamhetskritisk information. Lösningen på underhållsproblem och dåligt skapade system är istället att göra en software reengineering. Detta kan medföra att systemet bibehåller kritisk verksamhetsinformation samt har en bättre systemlösning, vilket leder till lägre underhållskostnader och mer genomtänkt arkitektur.

This thesis has been done at the Unversity of Örebro for Örebro University Hospital (USÖ). In our work we have developed a product for hearing tests to determine hearing thresholds of small children. Our product contains software and a control surface for controlling two separate screens. One of the demands was that our software could handle big file libraries. Reliability and simplicity were essential for the user.In our work we have utilized programming of both microcontrollers and Windows software.

The objective of this work was to evaluate and implement a number of energy saving functions for a specific embedded system. The functions were then grouped into a number of energy levels with known properties in terms of functionality, energy consumption, and transition time between the levels.The embedded system consisted of an AT91 ARM9 processor, GSM/GPRS modem, display, Ethernet and other peripheral units. Some energy saving methods that were considered were suspend to RAM, suspend to disk, frequency scaling, and methods for saving energy in the modem, Ethernet, USB and display backlight. The functions were grouped into levels and an interface was specified for controlling the energy level.It proved possible to get known properties within the defined energy levels, even though the paritioning of functions into these levels proved to be sub-optimal in a typical application usage scenario because it was designed for mainly energy consumption, not usage.The final result is a number of energy saving functions grouped into levels, which are controllable via an application interface. Rising complexity in the development of real-time systems has made it crucial to have reusable components and a more flexible way of configuring these components into a coherent system. Aspect-oriented system development (AOSD) is a technique that allows one to put a system?s crosscutting concerns into"modules"that are called aspects. Applying AOSD in real-time and embedded system development one can expect reductions in the complexity of the system design and development. A problem with AOSD in its current form is that it does not support predictability in the time domain.

Vår uppgift har varit att utveckla och förbättra Svalsons produktsortiment av eldrivna skjutluckor. Vi som har arbetat med att utveckla produkten är tre studenter från Luleå tekniska universitet, Institutionen i Skellefteå. Under arbetets gång har vi gjort det möjligt att reglera skjutluckornas hastighet, vilket inte är praktiskt möjligt på de produkter företaget har ute på marknaden i dag. Utöver det har vi utvecklat en fjärrkontroll, som kommer att ge personalen större flexibilitet då de idag bara kan använda sig av en kontroll som vanligtvis är placerad precis intill luckan. Slutligen har vi utvecklat en möjlighet att kontrollera och justera skjutluckorna via Internet.

The purpose of this report is to analyze the advantages of using programme software to monitor masshauling instead of using the conventional method. A comparsion between different programs will also be conducted in an attempt to determine the most affordable. This report is written for NCC Construction AB to help them choose a software most fitting for future projects.The report is based upon literature such as information taken from the developers website, existing reports with similar context, interviews with sellers of the software and interviews with people working in the building sector.The result of this report shows that there are several advantages with investing in a software that helps the management of a project and that it is something that should be taken under consideration instead of the existing method. Topcon is a clear favorite following the inquiries comparisons as done, when they deliver a complete system and not only a supplement to the current approach. Scanlaser are just in the beginning of its development, and is so far only out with an early version of the software, while Topcon has been brought further in development and therefore has more features in the program.
