Background: As a part of a national health control program, Statens VeterinärmedicinskaAnstalt performs diagnostics to screen flocks for certain pathogens causing high mortality,morbidity and/or serious economical losses. There are several viruses in the programincluding IBDV (infectious bursal disease virus), IBV (infectious bronchitis virus) and NDV(Newcastle disease virus). Method: 96 serum samples were collected from different poultryflocks in Sweden and analyzed by ELISA, which are currently used in the health controlprogram as well as by a commercial prototype of a multiplex immunoassay manufactured byLuminex Corp., which is currently under evaluation at the United States Department ofAgriculture USDA. This 4-plex assay detects antibodies for the three above-mentionedviruses as well as antibodies of avian reovirus. In the context of this study the ELISAs run inroutine diagnostics as well as a REO ELISA were used as the standard for comparison.Result: The antibody concentration in serum from vaccinated chickens was high while theantibody concentration level in serum from not vaccinated chickens was low.

Botulism is a serious disease with high mortality that can affect horses. Due to this about 20-30 percent of the horses in Sweden are vaccinated against botulism. The purpose of this study was to see how common botulism is in the Swedish horse population and to se if a connection between feeding with haylage and botulism could be seen. In addition to this, the study aimed to find how common vaccination against botulism is among Swedish horses and on what grounds the diagnosis botulism is made. Medical records of horses being diagnosed with botulism at all the major large animal hospitals in Sweden between 1995-2005 were searched. In addition to this the database where general practitioners report their cases as well as the cases with botulism reported to the insurance companies were included. The results of this study show that only 0,03 percent of the Swedish horse population has been diagnosed with botulism during the time period this study covers. In all the cases included in this study the diagnosis was made based on clinical signs and in none of the cases verification by isolating the toxin was possible. In all cases where forage is noted in the journals the horse has been feed haylage which indicate that there is a connection between the use of haylage and botulism. Three horses died despite being partially vaccinated against botulism type B which indicate that a correct vaccination has to be done before the horse get any protection or that the correct diagnosis was not botulism type B..

Hjärtsvikt är ett sjukdomstillstånd som utmanar patienten både fysisk, psykisk och socialt och utgör idag den vanligaste diagnosen för patienter över 65 år. Därmed är det även den vanligaste inläggningsorsaken för patienter i denna åldersgrupp. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att belysa hur patienter som lever med hjärtsvikt upplever sin hälsa och egenvård. Metoden grundar sig på Polit och Beck (2012) genomförande av en litteraturstudie där en nio-stegsmodell använts som mall för utförandet av litteraturstudien. Sammanlagt elva vetenskapliga kvalitativa studier granskades efter sökningar i de elektroniska databaserna CINAHL och PubMed.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka vad vårdpersonalen inom kommunens särskilda boenden hade för kunskaper om och attityder till MRSA och dess hygienrutiner. Studien hade en beskrivande och jämförande design. Genom ett bekvämlighetsurval valdes två kommunala boenden ut, ett i Gästrikland och ett i Hälsingland. Enkäter lämnades ut till vårdpersonalen (n= 109), varav 88 besvarades. Enkäten innehöll 13 påståenden och 13 attitydfrågor angående personalens kunskaper om MRSA och dess hygienrutiner.

Bakgrund: Att skada sig själv är ingen ny företeelse utan tvärtom ett gammalt fenomen. I Sverige är det svårt att uppskatta antalet personer som skadar sig eftersom det finns få studier gjorda och för att det finns ett stort mörkertal som aldrig uppmärksammas. Att skära sig i huden är förmodligen det vanligaste sättet att skada sig på och orsakerna till självskadebeteendet varierar. Syfte: Syftet med litteraturstudien var att beskriva omvårdnad av patienter med självskadebeteende. Metod: Studien är baserad på 10 vetenskapliga artiklar.

Every year about 30000 people have a stroke. It is caused by either a bleeding or a blood clot, and depending on where the damage is, the patient can get different types of difficulties following after the stroke. About 40 % of all stroke patients sufferfrom some kind of speech and/or communication difficulty, like aphasia or dysarthria. As hospital staff it´s important to know how to communicate with these people, to get a deeper understanding regards their needs.Aim:The aim of this study is to out of a patient's perspectivedescribeexperiences ofcommunication difficulties that can follow after a stroke.Method:A content analysis with a qualitative approach was used to analyse five autobiographies.Results:The result showed in what way stroke patients experienced their communication difficulties, and how they felt about the hospital staffs treatment related to their communication difficulties. During the analysis two major themes emerged: suffering and wellbeing.

The object of this thesis is to discuss the limits of the hypertext concept. The issue is whether the concept of hypertext necessarily depends on the conditions of the electronic media and www, or if the concept of hypertext more likely is founded on certain textual structures and strategies. In the light of contributions to hypertext theory during the 1990s, this thesis compares different views on hypertext, and concludes with an evaluation. The poem it the authors own translation of the original Danish title det, written in 1969 by the system-poet Inger Christensen, is the object of this case study. The poem is analysed with respect to its structural organisation and literary composition.

Huvudfrågan i arbetet är hur produktivitet och säkerhet kombineras i de säkerhetslösningar som existerar idag samt huruvida högre säkerhet leder till ökad komplexitet. Det tillvägagångssätt som använts består av en lastmätning av Secure Socket Layer (SSL), och Pretty Good Privacy (PGP), samt en teoretisk jämförelse av säkerhetslösningarna PGP, SSL och Secure Electronic Transaction (SET). Detta innebär att PGP som har jämförelsevis hög säkerhet när det kommer till kryptering även är den säkerhetslösning är mest resurskrävande. SSL däremot är mindre säkert med betydligt lägre resursanvändning. Generellt kan man med facit i hand säga att den lösning som är säkrast även är den mest komplexa.

Background:Malnutrition is a nursing issue that causes both physical and psychological suffering of those who are affected. In order to achieve care that is safe and has a good quality, it must be based on the assessment and actions of the state. District nurses play a central role in this work. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe the district nurses' work with identifying and addressing malnutrition in older people in nursing Home Care of the Community. Method: Six interviews with district nurses were conducted.

Bakgrund: Litteratur som tidigare behandlat området visar att rollen som närstående har förändrats under 1900-talet. Rollen som närstående till någon som vårdas i livets slutskede på en vårdinrättning innebär en mycket påfrestande situation. Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att beskriva upplevelsen av att vara närstående till en patient som befinner sig i livets slutskede. Metod: Litteraturstudien bygger på åtta vetenskapliga artiklar som har analyserats med innehållsanalys. Resultat: Det framkom att närstående ofta upplever att de befinner sig i en utsatt situation.

Bakgrund: Övervikt är ett folkhälsoproblem i västvärlden. Att leva med övervikt kan innebära ett stort lidande. Sjuksköterskan är ofta den som har mest regelbundna kontakter med överviktiga patienter. Sjuksköterskans uppgift är att bemöta patienter på ett värdigt sätt oavsett ålder, utseende, funktion eller prestationsförmåga. Syfte: Syftet med litteraturstudien var att belysa bemötandet av patienter med övervikt i hälso- och sjukvården.

As the ability to computerize processes and tasks increase, the proliferation of complex systems in our society continues. How these systems are deployed in the organizations where they are meant to be utilized has been shown to have a large impact on how well they function.In January of 2011 the Enköping hospital initiated the deployment of an IT-support for drug management, a module in the general health care system Cambio COSMIC. Other health care providers in the county, and in the rest of Sweden, have had mixed feelings toward the module. Some have outright refused the module, claiming that it is detrimental to patient safety. One of the arguments for deploying the module in Enköping, however, was that it was needed to improve patient safety.The Enköping hospital is considered to be a well organized institution with good leadership and earlier good experiences regarding IT-systems.

People have utilised and influenced the boreal forest for many centuries. Prior to the industrial revolution during the 19th century, however, human use primarily only had a low impact on the forest. When the timberfrontier swept over the country, the Swedish forests came to change for ever. The study site for this thesis is situated in the northern part of the county of Västerbotten, Sweden, and has previously been a National forest. Today the area is an ecopark and the land is owned by the forest company Sveaskog.

Bakgrund: Anorexia nervosa innebär för en människa svår viktnedgång, som är en konsekvens av dennes rädsla att gå upp i vikt. Omvårdnaden består till stor del av kontrollerad behandling av de fysiska symtomen, vilket kan resultera i en maktkamp då människor med anorexia nervosa inte inser att de behöver hjälp och inte vill bli friska. Detta utmanar skapandet av en vårdrelation. En fungerande vårdrelation är avgörande för patienters tillfrisknande.Syfte: Att beskriva patienters och sjuksköterskors upplevelser av vårdrelationen i omvårdnaden av anorexia nervosa.Metod: Studien är baserad på en kvalitativ litteraturstudie.
