Information Technology (IT) makes it possible to electronically distribute data between actorswho are in geographically diverse areas. Nowadays, information is sent less frequently throughtraditional correspondence in favor of faster electronic equivalents via the internet.Despite effective IT environmentand secure encryption techniques choose some actors to sendinformation through physical delivery. This phenomenon occurs in those working withconfidential information as it is handled by a number of rules and safety regulations.Based on a set of rules and requirements, we have looked over the possibility of sending sensitiveinformation electronically over the internet. The aim was to find general guidelines for howcompanies and organizations should manage and send sensitive information over insecurenetworks. This led us to our research question: How can information be exchanged betweenactors in geographically diverse areas be categorized and encrypted so that it can be transportedover the internet without security or integrity deficiencies?To answer the question, there was a case study at a defense company.

ganization of knowledge at a museum library: Library of the Museum of Ethnography in Stockholm in the 20th and the early 21st century [65][pdf.gif] The purpose of this masters thesis is to investigate the organization of knowledge at the Library of the Museum of Ethnography in Stockholm during the 20th and the early 21st century. The investigation is focusing on the development of the organization of knowledge, of the catalogues, of the classification system and of the information retrieval. The thesis examines the factors which force the development of the activity at the library and of the organization of knowledge. The study uses a qualitative approach which is based on investigations of different types of catalogues, of the electronic database, of the classification system, of the subject indexing and on interviews. A describing analysis is used.

The purpose of the essay is to by means of a quantitative method investigate what the portrayal of GLBT-people looks like in a selection of Swedish and New Zealand newspapers. The essay focuses on aspects such as the gender ratio between GLBT-people who are mentioned and also those who are allowed to speak out in the newspapers. Also in what proportions the newspapers portrays the different fractions of the GLBT-term, what subjects are covered and what types of sources are used are areas of interest.The analysis is conducted through a quantitative research method where two Swedish newspapers (Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter) and two New Zealand newspapers (The Dominion Post and The New Zealand Herald) were selected. Three periods of 15 days were selected for each newspaper and electronic databases were used in order to try and collect all articles with relevance for this study.The theoretical background consists of Tiina Rosenberg?s theories about media?s role in the individuals? identity shaping, Nina Björk?s feminist theories connected to gender and power, and the patriarchal structure of society, and also Anders Sahlstrand?s accounts of journalism?s use of sources and their effect on the audience?s perception of the news presented.The main results from the analysis points towards preponderance in the occurrence of male homosexuality and male homosexuals.

Detta arbete utgör en sammanhållen bild av den elektroniska legitimationens (e-legitimationens) framväxt i Sverige, vilket är en viktig förutsättning för utvecklingen av säkra offentliga elektroniska tjänster inom den elektroniska förvaltningen. Eftersom statsförvaltningens styrning historiskt uppfattats som relativt otydlig har området med tiden kommit att präglas av olika enskilda aktörers egna insatser, intressen och föreställningar. Studiens bidrag är att beskriva och analysera framväxten av den svenska e-legitimationen med hjälp av de tre analysperspektiven deltagande, föreställningar samt legitimitet. Jag har i studien intresserat mig för vad som skett historiskt och hur detta kan kopplas till det som sker i nutid kring e-legitimationer. Särskild vikt har lagts vid aspekter av icketeknisk natur varvid studien kan ses som en motvikt till den tydligt teknikfokuserade utredning kring den framtida e-legitimationen som genomfördes under hösten 2010.

Detta arbete behandlar EDI (Electronic Data Interchange). EDI är en teknik som innebär att standardiserade dokument skall kunna överföras elektroniskt från ett datorsystem till ett annat, med ingen eller begränsad mänsklig inblandning. Jag har försökt att inrikta min undersökning mot små och medelstora företag.De nyckelfrågställningar som jag valt att undersöka är följande: Vad talar för EDI och vilka skäl finns det till ett införande? Vilka förväntningar har företag på EDI vid ett införande? Vilka krav ställs det på organisationer som står inför ett införande av EDI? Vilka hinder finns för små och medelstora företag att införa EDI? Säkerhet i samband med EDI? Dessa frågeställningar har jag genom litteraturstudier, surveyundersökningar och en fallstudie samlat material till. Efter att materialet samlats in och analyserats så har jag dragit slutsatser utifrån mina frågeställningar.

Utvecklingen av medborgare samt företags användande av Internet har ökat dramatiskt under de senaste fem åren. Det ökande Internetanvändandet ledde till att statskontoret 1999 fick i uppdrag av regeringen att ta fram olika förslag samt underlag som skulle ligga till grund för begreppet 24-timmars myndigheten. Tjänsten är beräknad att tas tillbruk i Sverige år 2005. 24-timmars myndigheten kommer tillämpa ett antal olika säkerhetslösningar, därav elektronisk signering. Denna utredning skall belysa hur stort inflytande säkerhetslösningen elektronisk signering kommer att ha på användaracceptansen av denna tjänst.

This two years master?s thesis in Library and Information Sciences aims to investigate and put the services of 118100 Svar På Allt (SPA, an SMS mobile question and answer service) and Fråga biblioteket (FB, a library operated e-mail reference service) into the context of the reference encounter. Questions sent to SPA and their subsequent answers are analysed, and part of these questions are forwarded to FB for comparative studies. Both of the formats are compared to the reference encounter as a whole. The framing of the question originates in the assumption that there may be a need for further negotiation of the questions submitted to the aforementioned formats.

Bakgrund: Personer som använder Internet kan bli övervakade och profilerade av bland annat spionprogram och cookies på webbsidor. Dessa spion-program och dolda filer kan samla ihop information om användaren som skickas tillbaka till sändaren. Detta sker ofta utan användarens vetskap. Företag som placerar spionprogram i fildelningsprogram har syftet att samla information för att sedan rikta reklam till privatpersoner. Den information som kommer tillbaka kan säljas vidare i undersökande syfte för reklam till en tredje part.

Det saknas metoder att mäta informationssäkerhet inom företag och företagets tillgångar har förändrats från ett fokus på maskiner och råvaror till kunskap (intellektuellt kapital). Rapporten utforskar om det finns delar av företags intellektuella kapital som beskyddar företagets tillgångar och processer. Detta kapital kallas säkerhetskapital. Hur skulle företags informationssäkerhet kunna tydliggöras genom dess intellektuella kapital och hur kan begrepp inom informationssäkerhet och företagsvärdering hänga samman? Syftet med uppsatsen är att öka förståelsen hur informationssäkerhet är relaterat till intellektuellt kapital. Rapporten bygger på litteraturstudier om intellektuellt kapital och informationssäkerhet.

Most of the portable electronic devices use a battery as a primary power source. Nowadays, when the applications are becoming smaller and smaller and more power efficient, the designer needs to concentrate more on reducing power consumption, using secondary power sources and introducing power storage devices. Multiple power source availability and a power storage device on the board will make the applications much more useful and efficient in everyday use. This thesis proposes a power supply unit (PSU) for wireless sensor platforms which is capable of supplying a sensor node with energy from multiple sources, as well as status information from the PSU. Present power storage devices, like electric double-layer capacitors (EDLCs) and batteries, have become more and more common as their characteristics have developed.

The subject of this Master?s thesis is the process of change in a public library context, the implementation of the Stockholm City Library?s homepage Biblioteket.se. The aim is to examine the factors that influence this particular change and how they affect the process and extent of change in practice. The study designed as a qualitative case study is based primarily on document analysis, and supplemented by an interview. DiMaggio?s and Powell?s three mechanisms of change; coercive, mimetic and normative isomorphism, is applied.

Syftet med studien har varit att utreda vilka möjligheter som finns för småföretag att använda sig av elektronisk affärskommunikation i form av EDI. Vi erbjuder genom uppsatsen denna grupp företag, småföretagen, en introduktion till EDI och hoppas på så vis hjälpa dem att komma igång med elektronisk affärskommunikation. Med småföretag avses i denna studie den definition som NUTEK presenterar, nämligen företag med mindre än 50 anställda eller som har en omsättning som understiger tio miljoner euro.Utöver att undersöka vilka möjligheter som finns för småföretag tittar vi även på hur förutsättningar och tekniska aspekter påverkar småföretagens inställning till ett införande av en EDI-lösning. För att finna svar på våra frågeställningar utför vi en kvalitativ studie som baserar sig på en triangulering av tre metoder (observation, tidigare studier och intervjuer).Vår empiriska studie bygger på fyra urvalsgruppers syn på EDI och de möjligheter som dessa anser att en EDI-lösning medför.Vi har genom vår studie funnit att det finns goda möjligheter för småföretag att använda sig av EDI. What is the posibilities and threats in the future?Material/Method: A qualitative method has been used. Four interviewes, one personale interview with a policeofficer from Uppsala and three focusgroupinterviwes with people from Stockholm, have been done. Then the results from the interviewes have been compared with earlier theories and reaserches. By reading publicdocuments, press releases and reports from the government, I have gather information for the essay.Main results: Even if the public are aware of the cameras and knows that they allmoust allways are whatched by the electronic eye, they don´t seem to care that much about the constant surveillance.
