As a pet owner you are likely to someday face the decision to euthanize your pet and as a veterinarian or veterinary technician you are the one to perform this euthanasia. The reason for euthanasia may be depending on the animal, for instance illness, age and behavioral problems or depending on the needs of the owner or the society, so called convenience euthanasia. Many different euthanasia methods can be used when putting an animal to sleep. The method preferred in animal hospitals is pharmacological euthanasia either by inhalation of anesthetics or by injection of a euthanasia agent. If the pet owner wishes to be present during the procedure it is important to prepare him for what will happen. Many animals are sedated before the euthanasia in order to reduce anxiety and to ensure a softer transition between life and death. The euthanasia agent can then be administrated for instance intravenously or intraperitonealy.

On 1 January 2007 abolished Sweden as one of the last countries in EU the wealth tax. This wealth tax was in Sweden for almost 100 years. The purpose of this study was to examine young offenders? attitudes towards crime, and to the penalty they have been sentenced to as juveniles. More specifically its aim was to examine an intervention program called Galaxen, specifically used  to deal with  juveniles  in Växjö. This intervention program consists mainly of conversations with social workers from social services,  aiming  towards  better  self-awareness  and  the  ability  to  understand  the  consequences  of one?s actions.

Places like nightclubs or pubs are frequently visited in order to find partners for love, sex and relationships. This study examins behavioral patterns and trends among young adults in these environments. A computer-based questionnaire has been implemented on entertainment establishments - two studentclubs, one youth club and three nightclubs - in Malmoe and Lund in southern Sweden. The emprical material contains at most 149 answers, and at least 109. Sex, love and relationships are less important than expected, but are still some of few big reasons for visiting nightclubs.

There are several competing views on how to best utilize air power. Following his quantitative study of air power, Robert Pape developed a theory which focuses on undermining the target state's military strategy. According to Pape it is possible to explain the outcome as a result of military vulnerability. This essay seeks to determine if Pape's theory can predict the outcome of Operation Unified Protector. By using a mixed methods approach on four hypotheses, it will be determined if the operation was a successful case of coercion, if NATO acted according to Pape's model and whether this achieved the desired effects or not. The results reveal that the theory could not successfully predict the outcome of the conflict.

The DISA method is a universal program developed for teenage girls to prevent depression. The program includes cognitive behavioral techniques are suppose to change negative pattern of thinking, give practice of communication, strategies of problem solution and exercises to strengthen the social network. The purpose of this study is to find out how a group of teenage boys were affected by the DISA program and what factors that may have impacted the outcome. Material from three different studies have been used, a quantitative study in terms of data from self-assessment form CES-D, materials from two semi-structured focus group interviews with the boys and material from a questionnaire filled out by the boys on two occasions during the DISA method. The result of the CES-D indicates that the boys had less depressive symptoms after the final group meeting compared to the first group meeting and also a year later. Analysis of the material from focus group interviews and questionnaire have been made from a communication theory and systems theory perspective and indicate a shift to greater cohesion in the group and demonstrates that communication between the boy-group and group leaders had importance for the outcome.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to survey what personal encounter at the library can signify, and to examine Swedish public libraries? policies for personal encounter. The posed questions are: What does personal encounter at the library signify? How are users and library staff represented in the collected policies? What do the policies say about digital encounter? 290 e-mail queries were sent to Swedish public libraries in May 2010. Of 140 responses, 107 stated that they did not have a written policy on personal encounter.

Calculated and measured energy in residential buildings is going to differ. The reason to this may be due to many factors. In this study there is a study on how these factors affect the energy use in a building. To get an insight in what defines energy, there is first a description of energy supply both worldwide and used in Sweden, followed by a description of the energy balance. In this study energy will be studied in residential buildings only.

There is a need for correct and adequate pain assessment in horses. Methadone is used in pain management in horses but the full pharmacokinetic picture of methadone is not yet known. The aim of this pilot study was to develop a behaviour protocol and suggest a reliable recording method for use in a larger research project with an aim to potentially correlate behaviours to concentration of methadone in blood. In this study two coldblooded trotters were given methadone intravenously with doses of 0.1 mg/kg for horse 1 and 0.2 mg/kg for horse 2. The horses were videotaped pre and post methadone administration.

Cows are ruminants and they need fibers in their feed and sufficient eating time to function psychologically and physiologically. Many of our cows don?t get enough forage and too much concentrates, which given in the wrong way may cause health and behavior problems. Too much concentrates at once makes the pH in the rumen sink and this may cause decreased fiber utilization since the microbes in the rumen are negatively affected by this. The cow may also get serious problems such as laminitis and abomasal dislocation.

Studien ämnar undersöka hur man kan marknadsföra och finansiera en islamisk bank i Sverige, vilka nyckelfaktorer som finns samt vilka som går att använda för en lyckad positionering i den svenska bankmarknaden. Vi har använt oss utav kvantitativa och kvalitativa ansatser genom primär data i form av intervjuer och en enkätstudie. Vi har kombinerat marknadsföringsteorinValue Innovation med finansieringsteorin Bootstrapping i syfte att få en undersökning som är övergripande för hela uppsatsen.Resultaten tyder på att marknadsföringen av en nyetablerad islamisk bank i Sverige bör göras med fokus på att den är i linje med islamiska principer, men även att den följer vissa etiska principer, för att bredda målgruppen till andra än muslimer. Grundfinansieringen bör skötas av utländska investerare på ett sätt som undgår de restriktioner som finns gällande inflöde av utländskt kapital..

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) är en funktionell mag-tarmsjukdom som är mycket vanlig i västvärlden. Orsaken till sjukdomen är inte klarlagd, men man tror att flera faktorer spelar en roll. Sjukdomen karakteriseras av en rubbning i avföringsmönstret tillsammans med smärta och/eller en obehagskänsla från buken, men symtomen varierar ofta från person till person. Behandling av IBS går ut på att minska de mest besvärande symtomen, men i många fall är behandlingen inte tillräckligt effektiv.Syftet med detta arbete var att utvärdera effektiviteten av två läkemedel som används för behandling av IBS med förstoppning, linaklotid (Constella®) och lubiproston (Amitiza®), genom att främst titta på hur patienternas buksmärta, obehagskänsla och uppblåsthet påverkas. Sökningar efter relevanta kliniska prövningar där läkemedlen jämfördes med placebo gjordes i databasen PubMed; tre studier om linaklotid och två studier om lubiproston hittades.Studierna visade att samtliga förbättringar i buksmärta, obehagskänsla och uppblåsthet var statistiskt signifikanta.
