This master?s paper first presents some of the principal theories and concepts developed by the poverty researchers Rowntree, Titmuss, Townsend, Sen and Lister. These theoretical frameworks are then related to two documents from the EU and Sweden concerning combating poverty and social exclusion, bearing on the establishment of the ?Year 2010 against Poverty?. Finally, I discuss the value in practice of these theories and policy documents, as regards reducing poverty in Europe.It has become clear in this investigation that the theories and concepts from earlier research are still relevant to the formulation of contemporary policy programmes, and that earlier research helps us to avoid old traps in fighting poverty.

The integration of the Internet in our society has shaped alot of the things we do in our lives. The Web allows us to achieve certain things directly through our computers, such as reading the paper and paying our bills. But this integration has also lead to another interesting change. Activists have begun to unload their operations onto the Net instead of holding on to the more traditional demonstrations performed in squares. This study aims to look into the world of cyberactivism and examine how cyberactivists experience the way activism has changed as a result of using the Internet.

This study is about different teacher?s ´conception of remedial classes and its function in Today´s School. ?A school for everyone? the utopia that all schools and teachers aspire for. All pupils, regardless of ethnic background, class, and religious affiliation should be able to go to school without being segregated and are seen as different.

Fruktsamheten i Sverige har följt den ekonomiska konjunkturen under de senaste decennierna. Detta till trots att en period av arbetslöshet har en positiv inverkan på individens sannolikhet att föda barn. Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att ta reda på vilka som föder färre barn när arbetsmarknadsläget försämras. Syftet är också att ta reda på om de minskade fruktsamhetstalen leder till en långvarig minskning i födelsetalen eller om barnafödandet hinner återhämta sig då det är bättre tider. För att analysera efterfrågan på barn används teorier om den totala efterfrågan på barn samt teorier om den optimala tidpunkten att skaffa barn.

Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka den svenska regleringen på spelmarknaden inom Sveriges gränser. Dels vilket motiv som ligger bakom regleringen och vad det har fått för effekter på marknaden och samhället. Detta jämförs med om man skulle ha haft en helt oreglerad marknad med hjälp av grundläggande nationalekonomisk mikroekonomisk teori. Uppsatsens slutsatser är att regleringen motiveras främst av sociala skäl från statligt håll p g a av problemet med externa effekter, asymmetrisk information (konsumentsäkerhet) och ur omfördelningssynpunkt. Ett oreglerat tillstånd av marknaden har ett osäkert utfall vad gäller de externa effekterna men de skulle säkerligen öka.

For the past decades, culture has been given a role as a factor for local and regional development. But what is meant by development and in what ways culture can be of importance in this aspect can be unclear. This thesis examines the perception of the role for local and regional development of one specific cultural place and network ? the cultural cooperative Not Quite in Fengersfors, Sweden. I study the way the role as developer is expressed and interpreted in the discourse of the cultural workers who are members of the network and in the discourse of public cultural policy in the region Västra Götaland and in Åmål municipality.

Vikten läggs på att med Value at Risk ta reda på ett möjligt sämsta utfall som är ett resultat av placering i olika risknivåer. Metod: Vi har för var och en av de tre utvalda bankerna utfört en simulering baserad utifrånderas rekommendationer. Hänsyn har tagits till individers olika riskbenägenhet samt en begränsad tidshorisont.

The intention with this study is to investigate how schools are affected by state and municipal documents when they organize the education for children with special needs. The study is based on following questions.How do decisions on state and municipal level of politics affect the decisions that the principals make concerning organization, and do the school leaders think that the decisions are made on the right level of liability?What is the relationship between economic decisions and pedagogical decisions?What decides whether the schools have children with special needs integrated in their ordinary classes, or if they receive segregated remedial courses, and what are the views on an equivalent education?The study is conducted through interviews with principals of three schools, one politician on municipal level and one special education teacher. The interviews are linked to an historic background as well as current studies and discourses. The study shows that there are contradictions between state, municipality and school goals.

This study aims to explore how employment of people with intellectual disabilities has grown from only a few participants in the 1960 to be a statutory right. The aim is further to describe the progress and how theories about disability, normalization and social integration relate to the activity. Particular attention is given to the conditions of the labour market and how it influences the activity. Does the ambition to get activity closer the labour market changes and if there are changing, in what way? Is it important that employment resemble or can lead to a common work? The method is to study and analysis periodicals and newspapers articles and make interviews.

During the last decades, brand equity has been a priority topic for both practitioners and academics. In accordance with the structural changes in the economic settings caused by the so-called "new economy", corporations being confronted with a shift on perceived business value structure from tangible assets to intangibles. On the other hand firms increasingly are adopting more responsible behaviour towards their societies. In this context, one critical question is to understand how corporate conduct may affect brand equity. The purpose of this study was to find how brand equity (BE) measurement methods embrace corporate responsibility (CR), based on a literature review.

Det är också att se vad aktieprisbeteendet på ex-dagen kan säga om utvecklingen av marknadens effektivitet.Frågeställning: Går det att finna en signifikant skillnad mellan prisfallet på ex-dagen och storleken på utdelningen efter justering för indexrörelser? Vad kan man utifrån aktieprisets beteende på ex-dagen säga om utvecklingen av marknadens effektivitet?Tillvägagångssätt: Vi har använt oss av en kvantitativ datainsamling och gjort hypotesprövningar för att kunna dra slutsatser. Materialet är hämtat från databaserna Datastream och Ecowin.Slutsatser: Det går att för vissa år finna en signifikant skillnad mellan aktieprisfallet och utdelningens storlek. Av de tolv år vi undersökt har det visat sig att det för fem år kan sägas att prisfallet varit signifikant lägre än utdelningsbeloppet.

SYFTE: Huvudsyftet med denna studie är att undersöka om det är möjligt att utnyttja marknadens osäkerhet inför kvartalsrapporter. METOD: Metodmässigt bygger vår studie på sekundärdata, med fokus på Ericssons historiska slutkurser på aktier och optioner. Vi har prognostiserat den implicita volatiliteten inför kvartalsrapporter för att sedan utforma lämpliga deltaneutrala optionsstrategier som vi testar på nästkommande år. TEORI: Vi utgår från tidigare studier om att den implicita volatiliteten stiger inför kvartalsrapporter vilket vi vill testa. Dessutom testas teorin om svag marknadseffektivitet.

Sammanfattning Hur utvecklas kursen vid en nyintroduktion i jämförelse med Affärsvärldens generalindex (AFGX)? Uppsatsen redovisar utvecklingen för 57 aktier vid introduktionsdagen, efter en dag, en vecka en månad, tre månader och ett år. Slutsatsen är att det finns skillnader, de är signifikanta efter en dag och efter ett år. Efter en dag har kursen i genomsnitt gått ner ett antal procentenheter och för AFGX var motsvarande genomsnitt svagt positivt. Efter ett år är skillnaden mycket stor med 94 % i avkastning för nyintroducerade aktier och 13,1 % i avkastning för AFGX.

Syftet med denna uppsats har varit att undersöka storbankernas etiska fonder. Samtliga fonder jämfördes med varandra och med marknaden för att undersöka hur dessa har presterat i avseende på risk och avkastning. Uppsatsen syftar även till att vägleda bland storbankernas etiska fonder, d.v.s. kunna erbjuda läsaren en bild av vilka fonder som kan vara intressanta ur ett placeringsperspektiv. Studien är av kvantitativ karaktär och utfördes med hjälp av fonddata inhämtad från respektive storbank.

Girls with foreign background is the group that is most left outside the sports movement in Sweden and the ones with the least sports habit. Sports assumed to provide an arena for integration that these girls are being left outside from. The Swedish sports movement has adapted the conditions for them as a way to encourage them to participate in sports, but there are still lots of girls with foreign background that stands outside the sports movement. One input that the Swedish National Association has done for children and young adults is to adopt the Drive-in-sport, which can work as an entrance to the sports movement. The aim of the study is therefore to investigate which barriers, motivators and requests girls in Sweden with foreign background have to participate in Drive-in-sports.
