Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find out how much influence underlying factors have in connection to the internationalization of Born Global firms. Methodology: This study has a qualitative approach in which data is obtained mainly through interviews and secondary data which consists previous theories about the internationalization in small and medium sized firms and recent theories that entitle these firms as Born Global. Conclusion: Based on the existing theories and the qualitative data, we have concluded that the underlying factors for the Born Global firm?s internationalization are abilities and opportunities to create insidership in relevant networks. The most crucial underlying factors for Born Global firm?s internationalization are the ability to create processes to break old patterns of thoughts and the ability to ally with right partners. .

This is a master thesis from Uppsala University in collaboration with B Locket AB (more known as www.blocket.se). B Locket AB is a large ad-company from Sweden, located in Stockholm.Search engines on the market today are becoming more and more complex. When they were first introduced, they only had one function and that was to produce search results containing the string that the user had typed. Today, users want it to be able to spellcheck, produce more results and sort search results on specific fields as well. Preferably, all these features should not affect the performance as a whole.The reason to why these demands have come up is that users are getting more and more used to internet services as a whole and they want everything to be as easy as possible.The user ability has become a substantially more important area in the computer industry and this needs to be taken into account when it comes to B Locket AB and its search engine.

This paper is an account of the inventory I've made of documents in the archive at Museum Gustavianum, Collections storage Husbyborg, relating to the excavations in Asine, Greece, in the 1920s. The aim of this inventory has been to establish which of the documents in the Husbyborg archives that belong to the department of Classical Studies at Uppsala University. Documents belonging to other archives have been found alongside the one mentioned above and those are the Original documentation (loan from Carolina) and the personal archive of Professor Axel W. Persson. The documents have been arranged according to the General Archive Scheme (Allmänna arkivschemat) seeing that the department of Classical Studies already had a series named Documents relating to the departments archeological collections, and the inventory I've made will be incorporated with that.

This thesis describes the introduction of Web 2.0 education into Swedish LIS education with emphasis on the driving forces and obstacles in the process. It also discusses the possibilities of estimating the appropriate time for the start of new educational courses introducing new technologies, when it is uncertain if the technologies in question will sustain for a long enough period of time to make the educational effort worthwhile. The data on the Web 2.0 education was collected during the spring of 2010 from the Web pages of the five LIS departments in Sweden, namely Borås, Lund, Umeå, Uppsala and Växjö, as well as by 10 interviews during November and December 2010 with two representatives from each LIS department..The key finding is that Web 2.0 is covered in Swedish LIS education and embracing both practical and theoretical issues. The main driving forces have been both the needs of the profession and an academic research interest. It is concluded that Rogers??S-curves? as described in ?Diffusion of Innovation? can be used as a tool in order to improve the understanding of when to introduce education in new technologies.

Calle Strand: Brian Wilson presents Smile! ? a study of the circumstances surrounding theabandonment of Smile - Uppsala University, Department of Musicology, C-essay.This essay is about the course of events that led to the abandonment of the Beach Boys albumSmile in 1967. The purpose of the essay is to differentiate the medial assumption of why Smilewas never released and also investigate to what extent media have influenced this assumption.The medial assumption is compared to actual events of the time of the abandonment andthe difference is then being discussed in a media-theoretical perspective.The theoretical framework is based on theories by Denis McQuail. His ideas aboutmedia's influences on the reception of its audience are of great importance for the essay andthe notions of agenga-setting and framing has a central role.Finally the conclusion is drawn that the medial assumption is a simplified and distortedexplanation to why Smile was never released. The actual events discover several alternativereasons, but media choose to focus on the assumption that gain them the most (they set theagenda and frame the information to their advantage) and present it as the only reason to theabandonment of Smile..

This report is a case study of ?citizen forums? in the municipality of Uppsala. These forums are arranged to make people participate more in local politics. The aim of this study is to find out if the opinions and the wishes coming from the citizens are later involved in the planning process etc made by the authorities. The aim is also to explain why or why not the opinions from the citizens are of any importance.My empirical data come from interviews that I have made with seven different respondents, both politicians and civil servants.

Mikael Tuominen: Fri improvisation - hur tänker musikern?  Uppsala Universitet, musikvetenskap vt -98.Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka musikestetiken bakom fri improvisation sedd ur musikerns synvinkel. Undersökningen är framför allt baserad på litteratur skriven av verksamma musiker inom genren och på artiklar som delvis bygger på intervjuer med musiker. I arbetet med texterna används hermeneutisk och komparativ metod.I uppsatsen visas att genrebegränsningen för fri improvisation ligger i metoden. Denna går ut på att musiken skapas i nuet.

Den här uppsatsen undersöker om styrdokumenten och förskolornas arbetsmetoder har stöd i forskningen vad gäller språkkunskaper, språkutveckling och kognition hos tvåspråkiga barn. I uppsatsen presenteras en litteraturöversikt för att sammanfatta några forskningsresultat nationellt och internationellt, samt en empirisk studie omfattande fyra kommuner i Uppsala län, där syftet är att undersöka mer konkret hur kommunerna arbetar med modersmålsstöd i förskolorna. En del av uppsatsen undersöker också möjligheten för modersmålsstöd i de nationella minoritetsspråken.Litteraturen visar att mängden input är viktig vad gäller språkkunskaper i allmänhet, samt att risken är stor för språkbyte ifall det inte finns något stöd utifrån för att stötta utvecklingen av ett minoritetsspråk i ett majoritetsspråksamhälle. Resultatet av kommunstudien visar att kommunerna har svårt att följa styrdokumenten fullt ut i fråga om att barn med annat modersmål ska kunna utveckla sitt modersmål. Inputen riskerar att bli väldigt begränsad, så som de undersökta kommunerna arbetar med modersmålsstödet idag..

But then small changes in themodel could have major economic consequences.The thesis has generated results that show common weaknesses among the variousprojects and their project managers' general opinions about the project model. I linje med tidigare forskning bör adoptivföräldrar bli mer öppna för att adoptera ett barn med funktionsnedsättning eftersom det är färre och färre friska barn som blir aktuella för adoption (Glidden, 2000, s.397; SOU 2003:49, s.144-145). Studiens syfte var att öka kunskapen om hur nöjda adoptivföräldrar är med samhällets stöd före, under och efter genomförd adoption av ett barn med funktionsnedsättning. Studiens frågeställning var om adoptivföräldrar till barn med funktionsnedsättning anser att de har fått tillräckligt med stöd från samhället före, under och efter genomförd adoption. För att besvara frågeställningen användes en kvantitativ metod, vilket bestod av en enkätundersökning som var riktad till 31 adoptivföräldrar. Efter inkomna svar gjordes analys av empirin och en resultatredovisning där vi använde teorierna om anknytning och empowerment.

Uppsatsens syfte har varit att undersöka lärarstudenters inställning till grannspråksundervisning i den egna framtida yrkesutövningen. Mer specifikt har jag undersökt om inställningen styrs av egna tidigare erfarenheter, utbildningen inom lärarprogrammet och/eller geografisk placering av lärosäte.Resultaten utgörs av svaren på den enkät som delats ut till lärarstudenter inom ämnet svenska på Malmö högskola, Linköpings universitet, Karlstad universitet, Uppsala universitet och Umeå universitet. Totalt 85 informanter har deltagit i undersökningen.Av resultaten att döma har tidigare grannspråkskontakt och geografisk placering av lärosäte inte särskilt stark påverkan på lärarstudenters inställning till grannspråksundervisning, istället är det grannspråksundervisning under lärarutbildningen som påverkar lärarstudenters inställning. Enligt mina resultat bör grannspråk alltså ingå som enskild kurs inom lärarprogrammet vid alla lärosäten, om en positiv inställning till grannspråksundervisning är målet. Dock verkar det krävas mer än en positiv inställning om grannspråksundervisning ska få ökad prioritet i svenskämnet..

The aim of this study is to combine queer theories with quantitative methods. In social sciences, queer theories are being widely and increasingly used. Quantitative method is also widely used, and as a traditional method it can be regarded as a cornerstone in social sciences, sociology in particular. However, the two perspectives, queer theories and quantitative method, seem at a first glance to be very different in their understanding of social phenomena. Queer theories have, with some exceptions, mainly focused on qualitative research concerning such phenomena as sexuality, while the field of science is quite diverse.
