This paper examines the consequences of membership and participation in immigrant associations on individual immigrants? political integration and indirect political participation with reference to Swedish society. The theoretical underpinnings consist of a social structural outlook on social capital, combined with the Civic Voluntarism Model, both of which focus on the potential role of social networks for moving people into political action. After a presentation of parallel qualitative data over the experiences of individual members in a Finnish and Bosnian-Hercegovinian organisation, it is suggested that immigrant associations support the political integration of their members into the host society. Firstly, the case studies indicate that members of immigrant associations gain the opportunity to augment their civic skills, which is a significant prerequisite for political participation.

A church in rural Vester Egede from the earliest Christian period in Denmark e.g. the early 1100, a baptismal font is found showing a woman breastfeeding two animals. She is said to be a typical early roman Luxuria, in mild appearance. However, what makes her unique is that she appears standing on the top of her head, her womb serving as font. The main question is how come that a baptismal font like this is to be found in a church, leading to the sub question, if this font really has a Christian origin or could it be rooted in Norse, pre-Christian tradition, alternatively is the font an expression of a syncretism between the two colliding cultures.

Ethanol has a long history as a motor fuel and is both enviromentally friendly has a high efficiency.According to the EU commissions directives for motor fuels, 5, 75 % of all the fuels in Sweden should be renewable in 2010.

Universeum är ett upplevelsecentrum för naturvetenskap och teknik, ett så kallat Science Centre.I vårt arbete undersöker vi hur vetenskap bäst kommuniceras till barn och ungdomar via textskyltar på ett Science Centre. Vi analyserar vilket språk som bör användas och hur skyltarnas layout ska utformas för att väcka intresse, ge information och lust att lära mer inomnaturvetenskap och teknik. I den här uppsatsen försöker vi förklara vad som orsakar problematiska civila samhällen, det vill säga civila samhällen som inte bidrar till demokratisk konsolidering. Undersökningen är en fallstudie av Bosnien-Hercegovina, ett etniskt splittrat land som fått mycket internationellt bistånd. På det individuella planet handlar politisk konsumtion till stor del om att uttrycka en etisk, politisk eller miljömässig åsikt genom att välja och välja bort varor på marknaden. Denna uppsats flyttar fokus till kollektiva aktörer och betraktar politisk konsumtion som ett verktyg. Syftet är att besvara huruvida sociala rörelser kan och faktiskt använder sig av detta. The aim of this study about post-conflict economic, social and political reintegration of ex-combatants is to understand how such a process should be prepared for in order to help as many traumatized and sometimes destructive or disabled soldiers as possible to re-establish themselves as functioning civilians as well as preparing communities for their return. In order to do this I have focused on Africa and in particular the DDR-process of post war Sierra Leone. My study concludes that the relation between ex-combatants and civilians and the prospect of a positive future are crucial to a successful reintegration process..

Denna uppsats behandlar frågan: Hur bör det amerikanska kampanjfinansieringssystemet till val av president reformeras - mot ett system som fokuserar på frihet eller ett system som fokuserar på rättvisa? Som frågeställningen vittnar om är uppsatsen skriven ur ett normativt analysperspektiv där de klassiska värdena frihet och rättvisa i kombination med insamlad data om amerikansk kampanjfinansiering mynnar ut i en analys. Två alternativa väga presenteras, antingen att släppa systemet fritt eller att öka kontrollen för att minska skillnaderna som finns. Argumentationen ger en bild av hur annorlunda systemet skulle kunna se ut givet en förändring.
