Purpose There are almost infinite numbers of ways to build dairy farms in Sweden. When building a new free stall barn you have the possibility to affect both working environment and animal welfare for many years to come. The construction costs are influenced by which type of barn that is built and what functions it contains, for example one can predict that automatic milking systems are more expensive to integrate than milking parlours. But what is the real cost of today for the construction of free stall barns with milking centres and how is it affected by construction methods and functions? Is the labour time influenced by the building costs? These are some of the questions this report will try to answer.

After I heard that two deadly accidents in farming 2003 were created by work with cattle, I got the idea of writing this degree project. So far there are not too many reports written about safety for the worker nor the animal. Therefore it will fit in with a report about safe handling of free stalled cattle. The Swedish Board of Agriculture would also like to do an information material about outside stalled cattle with this degree project as a background. The collecting of material was made by visiting farmers. The goal was to visit 15 ? 20 herds and when this is being written 19 herds have been visited.

In this project the focus has been on the system for recombination at Oskarshamn 2. The recombining systems have on several occasions switched paths due to low pressure before the last ejector that?s feeding the recombiner. Of the mentioned reason, events and several measuring points have been analyzed in this report since the installation of the recombining systems.In order to prove theories and demonstrate what may be the cause of this problem, we used heat balance calculations by the program Probera. Using the program, we can demonstrate that the catalytic process does not reach the desired temperature with the amount of combustible substance.

Metabolic diseases in dairy cows are considered to increase the risk for claw lesions, most of all laminitis, sole haemorrhages and sole ulcers, but also to increase the risk for environmental claw lesions. The aim of this study was to compare claw health in 27 Swedish dairy farms, 18 with high incidence of metabolic diseases and 9 with low incidence. Data on claw health status was retrieved from recordings at routine claw trimmings and analysed on herd level regarding the prevalence of: any lesion, interdigital dermatitis, heel-horn erosion, sole haemorrhages, sole ulcer, lameness, abnormal claw shape, and other diseases (abscess in the white line, limb disorders, double sole, laminitic groove, white line disease, interdigital phlegmon, interdigital hyperplasia, toe abscess and verucose dermatitis). Mean prevalence of any lesion for herds with low incidence of metabolic diseases was 48 % and in herds with high incidence 41 %, and there was no statistical difference between the two groups. Sveriges kommuner har många verksamhetsområden, vilket gör IT-driften komplex och många kommuner har flera hundra IT-system i drift. Vår hypotes är att detta är negativt för användarnöjdheten. Genom en fallstudie vid en avgränsad del av en mellanstor kommun undersöks användarnöjdheten med en enkätundersökning och intervjuer. Resultatet av undersökningen visar att många användare har behov av utbildning inom IT. Vår analys behandlar användarnas behov och förbättringsförslag presenteras.

Målet om ett långsiktigt ekologiskt hållbart Sverige kan inte nås utan en hållbar transportpolitik och infrastruktur. Järnvägen ses generellt som ett mer miljövänligt transportslag och ett ökat nyttjande av denna är därmed viktigt. Det leder dock till ett ökat behov av drift, underhåll och viss nybyggnation, samt till behovet av att se till dess miljöpåverkande faktorer. En miljöanpassad offentlig upphandling, således en hållbar upphandling av dessa entreprenader är ett steg närmare en hållbar utveckling. Syftet med miljökrav vid upphandling är att minska järnvägssektorns negativa miljö- och klimatpåverkan, och att främja miljöarbetets utveckling.

Most of the goats in the world exist in the developing countries where they are important in the meat industry. In Europe, goats are mostly kept for milk production although the interest for meat is growing. Goats have a thin carcass with only small amounts of intramuscular fat, which gives a lean meat. This thin subcutaneous fat cover can cause cold shortening when chilling the carcass. By using electrical stimulation cold shortening can be prevented.

Vid tillfällen då det uppstår driftsstörningar i ett informationssystem (IS) kan personalen som ansvarar för drift och förvaltning av IS vara i behov av externt teknikstöd för att eliminera dessa störningar och därmed säkerställa verksamhetens tillgänglighet till IS (Brandt, 1998). Det som är av intresse i detta arbete är att undersöka hur personal i drifts- och förvaltningsorganisationen upplever datorrelaterad support från en extern serviceleverantör samt vilka faktorer som påverkar denna upplevelse.Undersökningen har genomförts som en fallstudie med intervjuer som informationssamlande teknik. Resultatet visar på att kunderna i stort sett är nöjda med den support de erhåller men att det finns delar av dervicen som inte är helt tillfredsställande..

Many interactive products constructed today is not produced towards a specific targetaudience and how they will interact with the product. This master's thesis follows the designprocess in the development of the Let's Walk webapplication. In the designprocess has users of the webapplikation been identified, prototypes developed and an interactive version has been evaluated. The Let's Walk webapplication is a fully working system used to administrate Let's Walk, an exercise competition between companies. Experts and users have been involved to evaluate the Let's walk high-fidelity webapplication prototype.

Examensarbetet har haft som syfte att få fram en färdig konceptlösning för att på ett effektivt sätt kunna frakta kabeltrummor i stål med en ytterdiameter på fyra meter i en container med endast 2.58 meters dörröppning, genom att göra kabeltrumman delbar. En lösning som väl i drift utgör en betydande ekonomisk fördel för uppdragsgivaren. Examensarbetet har resulterat i ett koncept som innebär att uteslutandeskruvförband används för att kunna dela och montera en kabeltrumma. Vi har underarbetet konstaterat att vår lösning inte innebär försämrade hållfasthetsegenskaper.Förutom konstruktionsfasen har arbetet även innefattat framtagande av en packplanför container med standardiserade mått samt en monteringsanvisning..

För operatören är det viktigt att tågen är tillgängliga när de är planerade att användas. För att hålla tågen i drift behöver de underhållas. Oplanerade stopp på grund av driftstörningar och fel kostar både pengar och tid för operatören. Utöver det påverkar ett stillastående tåg även resterande tåg som trafikerar spåren.Med detta examensarbete är målsättningen att förbättra det förebyggande underhållet för traktionsmotor liknande MSG-3 analysen för flygplan. Målet är att säkerställa rätt innehåll i underhållsprogrammet för att hindra oplanerade stopp.

Feed costs constitute a large part of the expenses of dairy farmers. Pasture is a high quality feed with a low cost. However, feeding with concentrates has been shown to enhance milk yield (Leaver, 1985; Bargo et al., 2003; Stockdale, 2004). The purpose with this study was to investigate how milk yield and milk composition were affected as the concentrate proportion in the diet decreased. Pasture behaviour was examined to see if the different concentrate levels affected the time cows spent grazing and ruminating.

The purpose of this study was to investigate parents' knowledge about diet and dental caries. The survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire consisting of 19 questions regarding knowledge of diet and caries, and preventive measures. The questionnaires were distributed to parents who were visiting a dental hygienist or prophylaxis nurse with their children aged 0-3 years. A total of 88 completed surveys were collected. The study showed that the majority of the parents had knowledge about diet and dental caries.

Half of Sweden?s 140 000-150 000 sows are culled and replaced by 75 000 gilts annually. Culling of old sows is necessary and allows new breeding material to enter the herd. However, many of the culled sows are young, and have not yet become profitable at the time for culling. Therefore, it is an important question for the pig industry, how to raise gilts to sows with a high and sustainable production level.
