The purpose of the following essay has been to identify four men?s momentums of their volunteer access to treatment for their disruptive gender-based violence. The questions that have been asked in the entrance of this field have been divided into the following questions: (i) is it possible to identify the processes of change that leads to turning points into the interviewed men's treatment of violence, (ii) how do the interviewed men, themselves, reflect on their turning points into treatment, and (iii) are there other, implicit, interpretations and analyzes of men's access into treatment that I can discern in their stories? As a point of departure of the analysis one theoretical perspective has been used to explain and analyze men?s access to treatment, the sociological life course perspective, focusing on the concept of turning points.The method to approach this field has been qualitative interviews with a life story oriented approach which means that, focus has been to let the four interviewed men describe their lives from early childhood to their adulthood and from their histories identify contingent processes to their access of treatment. The study resulted in a division of two parts, one part consisting the processes that have been identified by the men?s stories of present tense of violent outbursts.

Extensive planting of the tree species lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta var. latifolia) during the 1970s and 80s has resulted in large areas now being available for commercial thinning. However, the varying quality of the stands creates a problem. The purpose of this study was to investigate, at the Torsby district of the Stora Enso forest company, how well the present computer records of the stands correspond to reality and determine which stands are, from a qualitative perspective, suited for timber production. Finding variables that indicate better stands would give Stora Enso the possibility of selecting qualitative stands which are more profitable to thin. The study included 32 stands containing at least 70 % Pinus contorta.

Vid kvinnohuset i Örebro har ett barnprojekt startats där två barnpedagoger utvecklat en arbetsmetod som kallas Oasenmodellen. Syftet med studien är att utifrån Oasenmodellens arbetsmetod fördjupa kunskapen om (1) hur de centrala behov hos barn som vistas på kvinnohus kan mötas, och (2) vad en sådan arbetsmetod kan tillföra barnet. Tolkningsramen består av två delar; en teoretisk del och en begreppspresentation. Den teoretiska delen är avgränsad till att röra det kognitiva perspektivet vilket ansågs särskilt relevant med tanke på hur barnets tankar och uppfattning om sin situation kan raseras och omorganiseras i och med ett uppbrott från hemmiljön och en flytt till ett kvinnohus. För att kunna besvara syftet om hur barns behov på kvinnohus kan mötas behövdes först en identifiering av vilka centrala behov som föreligger för denna specifika grupp av barn, vilka presenteras i den andra delen av tolkningsramen.

Muskuloskeletala skador är ett stort problem hos hästar som tränas och tävlas i kapplöpning, och orsakar smärta med påföljande hälta för individen och ger även ekonomiska förluster inom industrin. Av dessa är stressfrakturer i tredje metakarpalbenet distalt på frambenet vanligast och utgången är ofta katastrofal med avslut på karriären och i vissa fall slakt. För denna typ av skada finns alltid en preexisterande patologi i benvävnaden. Träningen är högintensiv och kräver en fysisk adaptation av rörelseapparaten. Den kraftiga mekaniska belastningen kan kopplas till predilektionsplatser för frakturerna, där mikroskador i benvävnad utvecklas till fullständiga frakturer.

This is a qualitative study designed to investigate how professional support group leaders talk about their role as supervisor of support groups for children and adolescents with problematic home situations. We also examine how these supervisors talk about the method they use and how they talk about the individual child. We have chosen critical discourse analysis to help us explore if there are different ways to talk about these territories. Our questions are:How does the support group leader talk about his role?How does the support group leader talk about the method?How does the support group leader talk about the individual child?The theories we have chosen to use in the analysis of our material is Aaron Antonovsky's Sense of Coherence and social constructivism.

In 1513 the Florentine humanists Niccolò Machiavelli composed one of the most famous, but also ambiguously interpret, work in the history of politics, Il Principe. Machiavelli´s book The Prince revealed the true nature of politics in Italy in the beginning of the sixteenth century and gives very straightforward advice on how to act to become a successful and powerful political being. Machiavelli´s creation and insights in the reality of politics have be much discredited and condemned in its lack of moral consideration and violent nature. Still it has been read under the centuries with a fascination and eager to understand the structure of power and how to master it. My purpose with this study is to apply this Machiavellian idea of the capable prince on to the earlier research of the Swedish duke Karl, later on King Karl IX.

Opioider är vitt använt på smådjur som smärtlindring och för att minska behovet av anestesimedel. Opioider har också nyttjats på hästar så långt som 70 år tillbaka i tiden men användandet har varit begränsat och kontroversiellt då hästar lätt exciterar på grund av opioider. Metadon är en ?-receptoragonist och detta är den receptor som främst står för opioidernas analgetiska effekt. Metadon är inte godkänd för användning på djur i Sverige men används ändå ofta off-label på grund av sin goda smärtlindrande förmåga.

Opioidplåster avsedda för humant bruk används idag även för smärtlindring av djur eftersom det inte finns några registrerade veterinärmediciniska opioidplåster. För humant bruk finns plåster innehållande fentanyl och buprenorfin. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att granska studier i farmakokinetik och dynamik för att undersöka den vetenskapliga grunden för användningen av opioidplåster till djurslagen hund, katt och häst. Plåster kan vara ett sätt att administrera läkemedel transdermalt till den systemiska cirkulationen. Avsikten med plåster är att uppnå jämna koncentrationer i plasma (steady state) som varar under den tid som plåstret finns på plats, vanligen 72 h för människa. Vid användningen av fentanylplåster uppnåddes steady state hos människa efter 14 h.

Today most dosages used in horse medicine are based on studies in adult horses. Since there are differences between adult and neonatal horses with respect to different pharmacological parameters this can cause problems when administring drugs to neonatal foals. Neonatal sepsis is a common cause of morbidity and mortality in foals and aggressive antibiotic treatment is needed immediately when sepsis is suspected. In Sweden the combination of trimethoprim/sulphadiazine and bensylpenicillin is often used as the initial treatment. When administering drugs, interactions can occur between the drugs and endogenous substances.

To contribute to a better environment, Stockholms Stad has set at target of becoming fossil fuel free by the year of 2050. The construction of new districts is done with this goal in mind; energy efficiency and renewable energy sources are examples of methods to achieve this.Solar energy is considered to be a sustainable energy source and the most common techniques to harvest solar energy in Sweden are solar cells and solar collectors which produce electricity and heat respectively. This report aims to investigate whether an investment in any of these systems would prove to be economically beneficial at Kvarnholmen, a district under construction in eastern Nacka, Stockholm.Since the finished blueprints only cover a small portion of Kvarnholmen, the report examines the possibilities for a house where construction has already begun, Nya Kvarnen.

The aim of this study was to describe how body language of humans affects the domestic dog (Canis familiaris) and how it can be implanted in the stressed situation that occur at an animal hospital. The subject is brought to notice because the author has experienced that dogs can get more stressed when a stressed and nervous owner is attending. Humans affect each other through posture, facial expression, voice and movement, and are often driven by their emotions, which can differentiate the verbal communication from the non-verbal communication. This occurs both consciously and unconsciously. Every human uses body language but not everyone knows how it is used or how to understand it.
