The senior essay examines the geographical imaginations, notions of Self and community that were mobilized in the media and by the government in conjunction with an event, namely, the space voyage of Christer Fuglesang ? the first Swedish astronaut in space on December ___ 2006. The study is a critical investigation of media discourses, representations of space, and geographical imaginations that were triggered by the event. The specific issues addressed by this study are (a) which representations of Sweden were mobilized in narrating the event? (b) In what ways has Fuglesang´s space voyage influenced the image of Sweden? (c) How was the event rallied vis-à-vis discourses of entrepreneurial culture and neoliberal growth by the government? (d) Which themes and clichés were mustered in the media dramaturgy of the event? (e) Which topics were excluded in media narratives and representation of the event? (f) Have familiar geographical imaginations, notions of Self and community been reconfigured? If so, how?The present study analyzes narratives of the event in the two largest newspapers in Sweden - Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter, as well the two biggest TV-channels ? Swedish Television and TV4.

This essay has an aim to map out the discourses in the debate around local self government and national equivalence, which are both essential democratic values. The essay is delimited to the area of the comprehensive school. Interviews have been made with key persons in different positions in a selected municipality. I also use material that has been written in the context of Ansvarskommittén. The material is analysed using an integrated discourse analysis.

SammanfattningDetta arbete tar upp de viktigaste fysiologiska förändringarna hos den åldrande hästen, hur dessa påverkar hästens beteende och behov, och hur det i sin tur påverkar den omvårdnad hästen har behov av. Sjukdomar som i större utsträckning drabbar äldre hästar än yngre tas upp, och fokus ligger främst på att så långt det är möjligt förebygga dessa. I de fall detta inte är möjligt ligger fokus på att göra livet för den sjuka hästen så symtomfritt som möjligt. Den åldrande hästens näringsbehov tas upp, samt hur detta kan påverkas av olika sjukdomar. This study is a critical discourse analysis of Swedish newspaper articles about prostitution. The purpose of the study is to investigate which discourse/discourses about prostitution that is/are adressed in the articles and identify the power relations and meanings that are constructed by the different subject posititions in the articles. Apart from critical discourse analysis social constructionism and a discussion about gender are applied in the analysis. The results supports findings in earlier research about prostitutionin Sweden; that the debate is focused around prostitution as sexual domination or prostitution regarded as a voluntary choice which rises demands of human rights for sexworkers. No prostitutes or buyers of sex where given the opportunity to comment on the matter, only journalists, politicians, social workers and policemen.

This study describes and reviews horse stable equipment from companies who builds and sells the equipment. In the study the companies various equipment was compared with regulations in the law of prevention of cruelty to animals. The purpose with this study was to find out if the companies stable equipment are approved according to the regulations within this area. The study used at five randomly picked companies.This study showed that three of the five examined companies refered, in one way or another, to the law of prevention of cruelty to animals on their website. Unfortunately not any of the companies referred to todays existing law of prevention of cruelty to animals.

In this paper I'm trying to trace, analyze and emphasize Kathy Acker?s Great Expectations and Alison Knowles?s The Big Book in regard to the books in/finite im/possibilities. I analyze them through historical changes in the books format and structure, especially ones proposed by Mallarmé, Duchamp and Fluxus. To analyze the texts more closely attention is directed to how Acker and Knowles challenge the conventional narrative, in regard to the body and language/voice and sound. I give specific emphasizes to thoughts posted by écriture féminine, while also adding Mara Lee?s temporalities in regard to body resistance and time.

AbstraktThe purpose of this study is to examine how Swedish politicians and textbooks in social science choose to describe communism, this in order to see if there is a main discourse that controls what communism is associated with. The study is structured by the following question: How does Swedish politicians and textbooks choose to describe communism, is there a main discourse that controls how language is used? The method chosen for the analysis is discourse analysis. Chain analogy is used to structure the studied texts discursive content. Four textbooks in social science are analyzed and a number of public government documents that contains discussions about communism and the agency Forum för levande historia.The analysis shows that there is a clear discourse among leading politicians that dictates that communism is to be associated with a spectrum of negative words and concepts, but when it comes to the textbooks there isn?t an equally clear discourse and the textbooks differ among themselves in general content.

In recent years the liberal representative democracy has been subject of a substantial critique because of its inability to accommodate difference and createa genuinely democratic political process. One such critique comes from the theory of deliberative democracy. Supporters of deliberative democracy try to promote a model of democracy that take its vantage point in free and equal deliberationbetween all relevant actors in a political community. This model has with some success opposed the aggregative model of democracy, and in important ways turned the attention to the potential of deliberative processes.However, the deliberative model is still somewhat underdeveloped when it comes to issues of diversity and difference. This essay deals with such deficiencies by analysing deliberative democracy in the light of the critiquelaunched by difference- and radical democrats.

Bakgrund: Flertal studier visar ett samband mellan regelbunden fysiskaktivitet och livskvalité bland äldre.Syftet med studien var att beskriva hur fysiskt aktiva äldre individer uppleverhälsa, livskvalité, känsla av sammanhang och hur det kan vara enförutsättning för fysisk aktivitet. Kan KASAM-livsfrågeformulär bidra tillökad förståelse för individens upplevda hälsa och fysiska aktivitet.Metod: Kvalitativ och kvantitativ. Utifrån kvantitativ ansats användesKASAM-livsfrågeformulär med 29 frågor uppdelat utifrån treområdeskomponenter; begriplighet, hanterbarhet och meningsfullhet. Somkvalitativt komplement gjordes 15 intervjuer. Data analyserades medinnehållsanalys.

Syftet med denna studie har varit att studera psykosociala faktorers påverkan på skaderisken hos ungdomslandslagsspelare i fotboll. Tvångsmässig passion är en central faktor som studerats i relation till skada. Även faktorerna antal träningstimmar per vecka, antal spelade matcher, stress, själförtroende och motivation har studerats i relation till skada. En kvantitativ design har använts där 300 svenska ungdomslandslagsspelare i fotboll ingått som undersökningsdeltagare. Använda mätinstrument i undersökningen har varitPANAS, PSS, Grit-scale, PCLDS, Passion Scale, SCI samt SMS.

Bakgrund: Livet förändras för individer som drabbats av en brännskada. Många får beståendeärr och funktionsnedsättning som innebär stora sociala, fysiska och psykiska utmaningar sompåverkar deras liv. Brännskada är ett trauma som uppstår när huden kommer i kontakt medvärme. Huden fungerar som skydd för inre organ, reglerar kroppstemperatur ochvätskemängd, fungerar som känsel och kontaktyta samt infektionsbarriär.Syfte: Syftet var att belysa individers upplevelser av livet efter en brännskada.Metod: En allmän litteraturstudie genomfördes baserad på kvalitativa och kvantitativavetenskapliga artiklar.Resultat: Resultatet visade att individer som drabbats av en brännskada upplevde sin kroppsom främmande och kände sig begränsad i vardagen på grund av funktionsnedsättning ochsynliga ärr. Stödet från närstående var ovärderligt för dessa personer och det hjälpte demgenom den långa rehabiliteringen.

Bakgrund: Fenomenet självskadebeteende har blivit allt vanligare i vårt samhälle och väcker många reaktioner hos omgivningen. Sjuksköterskor möter patienter som skadar sig själva i flera olika miljöer. Det har dock visat sig att sjuksköterskor själva utrycker bristfällig kunskap då de upplever det svårt att bemöta patienter med självskadebeteende.Syfte: Syftet med litteraturstudien var att belysa faktorer som påverkar sjuksköterskors attityder till patienter med självskadebeteende, samt dess konsekvenser för omvårdnaden.Metod: En allmän litteraturstudie, där empiriska artiklar publicerade i vetenskapliga tidskrifter har analyserats. Fynd från artiklarna som svarade på syftet har identifierats och fyra kategorier skapades.Resultat: Resultatet presenteras utifrån fyra kategorier vilka är: Sjuksköterskors känslor och tankar, Sjuksköterskors erfarenhet och genus, Sjuksköterskors arbetsmiljö och Sjuksköterskors behov av utbildning. Detta är faktorer till sjuksköterskors attityder och påverkar den omvårdnad som patienterna får.Diskussion: Genom att påverka bakomliggande faktorer till sjuksköterskors attityder skulle de kunna förändras i en positiv riktning.
