How should a fair income tax system be designed? Since Estonia became the first country to introduce a flat tax on incomes in 1994, this question has been in focus of public debate. The aim of is this thesis is to show that a flat income tax system, combining a proportional tax rate on all incomes with an allowance exempt from tax, is consistent with the demands of justice. In order to achieve this I construct a two level argument using normative method. The first part consists in the justification of a specific ethical theory which is derived from to notion of human Dignity.

The purpose of this essay has been to examine the public`s view of the Swedish eldercare during 2006. This study uses discourse analysis as a research method, the reference material has been articles from the newspaper Dagens Nyheter. The aim of the research has been to find central themes, conflicts and consensus in the discourse of eldercare. The analysis resulted in four main subjects which were based on four main questions; the questions of responsibility and execution, the question of contents, and the question of where the eldercare should take place. The analysis of conflicts and relations of consensus in the discourse of eldercare resulted in two different main views; the traditional and a more modern.

Background:Approximately 300 children get a malign cancer diagnosis every year in Sweden, 80 % of them survive. Parents of the children who have a cancer diagnosis experienced that they didn't have mental health, nurses care of parents are to keep a mental health so they can handle their parent role. Nurses should meet families through their life-world because caring should be done with Dignity and integrity.Aim:The aim of this study was to describe how parents experience the daily life with a child who has a cancer diagnosis.Method:The method used in this study was a literature study based on autobiography, which means analysis of autobiographies. Four books were analyzed.Results:Four categories emerged from the analysis of the autobiographies, experience of powerless, desire of a regular, experience of anxiety and fear, to experience joy and have hope.Conclusion:This study shows how life changes when a child in the family gets a cancer diagnosis and how it affected the parents. The study points out the importants to create a great relationship between the nurses and the family so they can have a good care..

Vi har valt att belysa skam i den somatiska vården, då vi upplever att det sällan talas om skam som är förknippad med somatisk sjukdom. För att skapa balans i tillvaron och stärka välbefinnandet, den fysiska och psykiska hälsan bör patienten mötas med respekt och värdighet. Sjuksköterskan skall enligt ICN lindra lidande, återställa och främja hälsa, förebygga sjukdom vara öppen inför andra människors värderingar och upprätthålla en miljö där det värnas om mänskliga rättigheter. Vård skall enligt HSL ges med respekt och på lika villkor och den enskilda människans värdighet skall beaktas. Syftet med studien var att belysa patienters beskrivningar av företeelser som leder till skam.

To be able to say something about the relationship between those two actors I have been using two municipalities as examples.

The European Union has faced lots of criticisms over the last couple of years when it comes to how refugees are treated in Europe. The Lisbon Treaty states in Article 2 that the European Union is founded on respect for human freedom, Dignity and equality. Values such as democracy, rule of law, respect for human rights and that the rights of persons belonging to minorities should be respected are also something that the Union should be based on. How is it then that the Roma people, which are Europe's largest minority, are being persecuted all over Europe, that they get deported and have their camps destroyed? Why are refugees from North Africa being sent back before they even have a chance to seek asylum?  In this essay I have examined how the EU are treating refugees and tried to distinguish if there are any differences in how they treat internal and external refugees.

Palliative care is founded on a holistic attitude, with the goal to alleviate suffering when a cure is no longer possible. Palliative care affirms life and regards dying as a normal process, providing possibilities of a quality time for the patient and family. Studies show that an increasing number of people choose to live the final phase of their life in their own home. A requirement for end of life care is an effective team work, where the nurse is responsible for more advanced care, and the caregiver?s provides the immediate care.

Syftet med studien var att explorativt undersöka vilken betydelse hästen har för brittiska soldater och veteraner som varit ute i krig och återvänt med någon form av ohälsa. Studiens frågeställningar var: Hur används hästen på Horseback UK  som en del i tillfrisknandet för brittiska soldater och veteraner som varit ute i krig? Hur beskriver brittiska soldater och veteraner som varit ute i krig hästens betydelse för livskvalitén? För att besvara frågeställningarna tillämpades en metod som bestod av kvalitativa intervjuer. Intervjuerna utfördes på Horseback UK i Skottland som är en välgörenhetsorganisation, skapad för att ge en trygg och säker miljö. De arbetar med hjälp av hästar för att hjälpa de som tjänstgör eller tjänstgjort i den brittiska armén och kommit tillbaka med någon form fysisk eller psykisk ohälsa.

Sammanfattning Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att belysa patienters syn på sin omvårdnad avseende integritet och värdighet vid sjukhusvistelse. Designen var en deskriptiv litteraturstudie och artiklar hämtades från databaserna Academic Search Elite, Cinahl och Medline via PubMed.Resultatet i denna studie visar att omgivning och arkitektoniska miljöer är framtonande orsaker till patienters negativa upplevelser i vården. Kommunikativa svårigheter och utebliven information om medicinska åtgärder och undersökningar, tillsammans med personalens bemötande och beteende, gör att patienters integritet och värdighet åsidosätts. Vårdtagarna vill känna delaktighet i sin vård och få information om sin situation vilket stärker känslan av att de behandlas med respekt från vårdpersonalens sida. Etiska kränkningar av patienters integritet och värdighet, under sjukhusvistelse, är i stort beroende av vårdpersonalens agerande vid vårdsituationer där patienter blottas eller utsätts för undersökningar utan tillräckligt skydd runt patienten.

The aim of the study was to investigate how a community motivates and ensures the implementation of its values and how this document affected personnel of meaning, vision and daily operations. The study was based on semi-structured interviews, in which nine respondents were interviewed in a city in southern Sweden. Interviews dealt with three different themes, all concerned organization or set of values. The analysis was based partly on how organizations and institutions build up and maintain their legitimacy. The analysis was also explained by the new institutional theory and its concepts isomorphism.

Värdighet är en viktig del i omvårdnaden som ofta negligeras. Värdigheten hotas i ögonblicket då patienten inkommer till vårdavdelningen. Trots ett behov finns det inga klara riktlinjer för hur sjuksköterskan ska handla i bevarandet av patienters värdighet. En litteraturstudie som utgår från humanvetenskapen genomfördes för att få djupare kunskap och förståelse om bevarande av värdighet hos patienter. Syftet var att beskriva hur patienters värdighet bevaras inom omvårdnad.

This is a study concerning the conventions surrounding death and it´s rituals during the latter half ofthe 21th century. The study´s main material is the official magazine of SBF - Sweden´s funeral association ? Memento. By studying the undertaker and the self-image of his services at an intervalof years from 1945 to 2005, one is able to notice certain changes of values concerning what afuneral, a chest and a tombstone really is ? or rather how the meaning of these symbols of death slowly shifts from the ?Dignity? of death towards the self-expression of the individual.In the 1940´s towards the 80´s, there is much talk of giving the dead a ?dignified? funeral and burial, and this is how the undertaker defends himself against public critique of his or her´sprofession´s ?trade with death?.

Identity includes an individual´s self-image and the consciousness about their self. It is about being the same person despite changes in their life situation. The identity often get´s fragile because of the disease. Beacuse of the individual´s feeling of lost identity there may arise a conflict between the person and people in his or her surroundings. They may no longer see the sick person in the same way as they used to.

SammanfattningDenna studie syftar till att undersöka hur enhetschefer inom äldreomsorgen resonerar kring begreppet värdighet hos äldre personer som bor på särskilt boende, samt hur de ser till att deras personal omsätter värdighet i det praktiska arbetet. Värdighetsbegreppet diskuteras främst i förhållande till komponenterna bemötande och självbestämmande. Studien genomfördes med en kvalitativ forskningsmetod i form av semisstrukturerade intervjuer med fem enhetschefer inom äldreomsorgen. I analysen användes fyra olika teorier om värdighet, nämligen (I) meritvärdighet, (II) värdighet som moralisk resning, (III) identitetsvärdighet samt (IV) människovärde. Studien visar att begreppet värdighet rymmer en mängd olika beståndsdelar enligt enhetschefer för äldreomsorgen.
