The outset of this thesis is to raise questions on how we design for the mobile context and the capabilities of smartphones. Not only the presentation but also the use of input and interaction between a service and a user.This work evolves around sign up forms and answers the question: How does the sign up process affect the holistic perspective of a digital service regarding usability and user experience? This thesis consists of a case studies, and design experiments conducted on Twitter, Instagram and Randos sign up processes to explore if and how the usability, and the user experience could be affected and im- proved.This concluded some important aspects to be considered when designing sign up forms for a digital service.The usability, and the user experience is not only affected by user interaction, and the choice of input method but it?s also affected by which data the service is requesting, and more important; if that data is motivated to request by the service..

Tidigare utförda servicebulletiner och luftvärdighetsdirektiv på flygplanet SE-KOL finns nedförda och redovisade i handskrivna dokument. För att på ett enkelt och smidigt sätt kunna ta fram status avseende SB och AD har innehållet i handskrivna originalhandlingar överförts till ett digitalt system i vilket utförda åtgärder blivit överskådliga och sökbara. Rapporten beskriver det överföringsarbete som legat till grund för den digitala listan samt det granskningsarbete som gjorts mellan utförda åtgärder och originaldokument från luftfartsmyndigheter och tillverkare, för att fastställa SB/AD-status för flygplan SE-KOL.Utifrån tidigare utrustningslistor, datalistor och tekniska dokument har en uppdaterad utrustningslista sammanställts med ökad överskådlighet samt sökbarhet, ur vilken information om flygplanets fortlöpande utrustningsstatus kan tas fram. Utrustningslistan som skapats är det underlag som senare tänkt användas vid överföring av flygplanets utrustning till ett bättre uppföljningssystem..

The study examines medias impact on every day racism through Agenda Setting and Framing. Prior studies on the subject are either conducted from an American perspective, or are several years of age. In this study we highlight how todays media depicts our society and how it affects the concept of the world on an individual level. The study is a content analysis of the case study on the news stories ?The hunt for the unregistered immigrants?, which have been analyzed through critical discourse analysis.

Forskare och medier larmar om att allt fler m?nniskor drabbas av kunskapsresistens, vilket inneb?r att ha en ovilja att ta till sig etablerad kunskap. Detta ben?mns som ett hot mot det demokratiska samh?llet och det g?r att se hur fenomenet igenk?nns bland kontroversiella fr?gor. I ljuset av detta har jag gjort en kvalitativ intervjustudie f?r att ta reda p? hur unga m?n bekr?ftar sin kunskap med avseende p? tre omtvistade fr?gor som har en plats inom samh?llskunskapsundervisningen; klimatf?r?ndringarna, vaccin och migration.

The focus of this thesis is a specific part of Swedish library policy called library plans. A library plan is a political document created with the purpose of constituting a platform for co-operation between different library systems within a municipality, e.g. through determining and analysing the needs for library activities within municipalities in Sweden.This thesis´ aim is to investigate whether library plans are, or can be used as, a tool for change and thereby increase legitimacy for public libraries in Sweden.We have examined aspects of library plans using theories from change management to determine whether these plans include tools focusing on conditions in organisations that could result in an improved and stronger position in the society for public library. Through the use of theories from new institutionalism we opted for an understanding of the interaction between the libraries and the context in which they are part of.Upon examining 23 library plans, we discovered similarities as well as diversities among them. From our study we have drawn the conclusion that it is important to analyse the specific needs of each different municipality and to consider these individual conditions and needs when developing and composing the library plan.

The aim of this master's thesis is to study what attitude public libraries in Sweden show towards video games. By using critical discourse analysis as both theory and method we analyse several texts emerging from a debate mainly discussed in blogs. Main topics in the debate are video games in the library, the purpose of the public library and Library 2.0. Our analysis focus on views expressed concerning the work and purpose of the public library, the librarian and the library user - and to identify the main visible discourses in the discussion.Our findings consist of two discourses representing two different views in the debate. We call these two discourses the general educational discourse and the interactive discourse.

Syftet med studien har varit att bidra med kunskap om hur IKT (informations- och kommunikationsteknologi) kan användas vid skolors studiebesök på museer.Det teoretiska arbetet grundas i en sociokulturell teoritradition vilken har kompletterats med contextual model of learning, diskursanalys, multimodal diskursanalys, och multiliteracitet.Metoden ramas in av en etnografisk ansats, vilken inrymmer fältarbete, deltagandeobservationer, videodokumentation och fokusgruppsintervjuer, med metoden stimulated recall.Resultatet belyser hur elever har använt mobil teknik och multimodala språkformer för att lösa uppgifter vid ett museibesök. I studien upplevde eleverna att de mobila resurserna var enkla att hantera. Samtidigt inverkade den digitala tekniken och sammanhanget på hur eleverna kunde uttrycka sig. I situationen uppstod hierarkier kopplade till resurshanteringen, då mobilen gav användarna förhandlings- och tolkningsfördelar. Ett angeläget område för framtida forskning är att utveckla mer kunskap om hur etiska frågor bör hanteras i förhållande till de multispråk som utvecklas vid användning av IKT.

TitleThe profession of Children's Librarians. Identity and vocation.AbstractThe aim of this Master's thesis is to investigate the professional identity of Children's Librarians in order to contribute to a deeper understanding to the professions of librarians. This places the thesis in the field of Library and Information Science that studies the profession. The definition we use to understand profession suggests that all librarians take an active part in negotiating their professional role and library enterprise.Our empirical material consists of interviews with eight Children's Librarians. Using a qualitative method was the best way to gain an understanding for the participant's own experiences of their professional identity.

Syftet med denna undersökning är att få en förståelse kring hur unga kvinnliga studenter använder sig av det sociala mediet Instagram. Studien ämnar svara på vilka funktioner Instagram fyller för unga kvinnliga studenter samt vilken betydelse detta sociala medium har i deras vardagliga liv.FRÅGESTÄLLNING: Syftet har specificerats i följande frågeställning: - Hur används Instagram av unga kvinnliga studenter?METOD OCH MATERIAL: Kvalitativa individuella intervjuer med fyra kvinnliga studenter i 23-års ålder.HUVUDRESULTAT : Studien visar på att en viktig funktion med Instagram är att interagera med andra människor och vara deltagande i den sociala gemenskapen på forumet. Det  ramkom även att tre av fyra kvinnliga studenter ser på forumet som ett verktyg för att kunna bygga ett personligt varumärke och att det är ett enkelt sätt att hålla sina nära och kära uppdaterade kring sitt vardagsliv.   .

This Master's thesis in Library and Information Science aims to explore if personal patterns can be detected in web-searching. It is based on a study where the search sessions of nine test persons were video-recorded, transcribed into logs and analysed.A major objective was to find out whether there is a correlation between individual searchers' personal attributes and their web search behaviour. The logs were therefore compared with the test persons' results in a learning style test (Kolb's Learning Style Inventory) and with interview answers about information behaviour and personal background.While several patterns were indeed discovered, none of them turned out to be strictly personal. The nine test persons could be divided into five types of searchers: the purely analytic searcher; the generally analytic searcher; the balanced searcher; the mixed searcher and the browser. All types of searchers were found to have the attribute learning style in common.

The current curriculum requires a well functioning school library and an active use of it. In junior school grades 1-3 the children primarily learn basic skills. Knowledge about libraries and how to use them and different media is part of these skills. Therefore my intention was to investigate how school libraries in junior schools look, how they are used in the training and how they could be used in junior school education. I focus on the pedagogic role of the school library and the library as information center.I begin by going through what the school law and the curriculum say - or do not say - about the use of the school library.

Denna rapport berättar om vårt arbete med att ta fram ett inredningskoncept till den nya kårpuben i Eskilstuna. Vi har med hjälp av våra kunskaper inom informationsdesign och rumslig gestaltning arbetat fram ett förslag, anpassat efter uppdragsgivarens önskemål. Våra uppdragsgivare är Kårhusstiftelsen och Mälardalens studentkår. De ville att inredningskonceptet skulle vara målgruppsanpassat med funktion, flexibilitet och nytänkande i fokus. Då kårpubens personal till största del består av ideell arbetskraft ville de även att inredningskonceptet skulle underlätta det dagliga underhållet av verksamheten.

Rapporten grundar sig på en studie i att utröna möjligheterna för att förenkla och effektivisera Metrias kartproduktion genom användning av Arc View 3.1 samt Arc View tillsammans med Adobes programvaror Illustrator och Photoshop. Två kartor skapades under arbetets gång, en översiktskarta och en centralortskarta över Gällivare. Moment som ingick var: Terrängskuggning, adressättning, symbol- och färgsättning av kartor samt test av kartframställning med hjälp av Adobes programvaror. Olika höjd- och solvinklar prövades vid terrängskuggning. Adressättning av vägar gjordes till en interaktiv funktion där gatuadressen fördes över från fastighetsdataregistret till GSD-Ekonomiska kartans vägskikt.

The purpose of this paper is to increase knowledge and understanding of how an identity is constructed on the internet and if it is different from the everyday identity. To analyze this, I have studied the theories of how identity is constructed in everyday life and then applied this on the empirical data that I have collected. In this study, I have chosen to pursue a qualitative approach using semi-structured interviews to gather the empirical data. In the study, six informants participated and all of them has an active social life both on and off the internet. The results that I have found in this study shows that an identity online is constructed in a similar way as it does in real life, however, some limitations that exist in everyday life do not exist online.

Detta kandidatarbete fokuserar på att undersöka aspekter som kan förstärka en användares upplevelse inom digitala spel. De aspekter som vi valt att fokusera på är användandet av Oculus Rift och Motion Capture då de tar upp viktiga punkter som Virtual Reality, närvaro och inlevelse i spel. Vi valde även att fokusera vår produktion mot skräckgenren då detta är ett område vi båda har stor passion för i diverse media. I vårt arbete har vi fått fram en hypotes om att spel som fokuserar på att lämna karaktären i ett tomt skal (ingen personlighet), lämnar en större chans för inlevelse hos spelaren då användarens egna känslor speglas på karaktären. Användandet av Oculus Rift och realistiska röresler via Motion Capture har en tendens att även stärka detta..
