Syftet med detta arbete är att undersöka hur förändring av material påverkar varseblivningen av objekt när formen lämnas oförändrad. Detta kan vara av intresse då spel med realistisk grafisk stil blir mer och mer högupplöst vilket samtidigt ställer högre krav på de grafiska utvecklarna att framställa verklighetstrogna material.Jag har utfört en kvalitativ undersökning med personintervjuer av sex personer. Dessa sex personer har fått se tre objekt där de fått definiera objektets syfte. Intervjupersonerna fick sedan se objekten med olika material där mina frågor haft som mål att få respondenten att motivera uppfattat material samt det uppfattade materialets egenskaper. De intervjuades motiveringar om objekt och material har jag sedan tolkat utifrån litteratur om psykologi, främst om kategorisering som George Lakoffs bok "Women, Fire, and Dangerous Things" (1990) beskriver.Min undersökning har visat att uppfattningen av textur kan förändra ett objekts syfte och funktion.

The purpose of this study was to find out why the law that regulates downloading copyrighted material does not work and which of the most important main reasons lies behind downloading behaviour. The phenomenon being well investigated earlier has actualized a new demand for normative investigation in connection with the hot debated IPRED-law.Using qualitative method comprising of interviews with three typical file sharers and anchored in Max Webers action typology, rational choice theory and the norm model followed by two assessment models, we found that four important reasons lies behind downloading behaviour: 1) economical reasons was the most central and frequent determinant followed by 2) accessibility and comfort, and 3) social acceptance and moral and also 4) habits. Although the content of the law was correctly provided by the interviewees, it was clear that they did not perceive the impact of the law as meaningful or threatening.The results, being compatible with previous research, are discussed in terms of the named theories and assessment models. We suggest further research to take into account peoples norms as the new IPRED-law soon will be functional as well as studies from a perspective of the legal rights of the individual..

Superficial digital flexor tendon injuries are common causes of premature retirement or pre-longed convalescence periods for race horses. The curve gradient at Täby Galopp race track is very small and most races as well as high speed training are done on the left rein. It is believed that the horses left foreleg is under considerably more strain then the right foreleg when being ridden on the left rein during gallop at high speed. During gallop on the left rein the horse puts its entire weight on the left foreleg when regaining ground contact. The purpose of this study has been to find out, through analyzing the statistics concerning the horses that visited the ATG clinic at Täby during a period between January 2003 and September 2006, whether there is a higher frequency of superficial digital flexor tendon injuries on the left leg rather than the right and if so, can this support the theory that the design of the race track in combination with continuous left rein races can be a contributing cause of these injuries. The result of the study shows that 57% of the tendon injuries occurred on the left front leg and 38% on the right front leg. The difference is not large enough to support the above theory of the underlying cause of these injuries..

The study shows the current need for security solutions concerning work with information in different areas.Investigations will show important solutions for printers? needs to meet the increasingly harder demands forfast and safe digital communications. Important factors to be analyzed in the investigations are: access todifferent types of information, workers authority of information, access to the data base register internallyand externally, production solutions for an effective fault detection and data base solutions fororders and distribution.Planned and unplanned stops result in a standard of value in interruptions. The last few years a lot of media air time has been devoted to training, sports, health and weightloss on a more personal level then before. The new media arena is beeing used at its´ maximumto broadcast wievs on how we should eat, look, exercise and live. This thesis is trying to makebetter understanding on what people in general think is important when it comes to physicaltraining and motivation with the aid of digital media and IT systems. The thesis describes aworkshop that was conducted within the frames of Participatory Design and the outcome of thatworkshop. The workshop was conducted with a group of lead users (in this case instructors at avery large fitness center in Umeå, Sweden) and the main question was ?How can IT be used toachive a positive effect on physical exercise if motivation is the focus??.

Bakgrund: De senaste åren har alltmer musik börjat distribueras digitalt via Internet. Detta har framförallt skett via fildelningsnätverk men under de senaste två åren har allt fler legala tjänster växt fram. Prisnivån hos dessa tjänster är väldigt enhetlig och återförsäljarna har små marginaler på sin försäljning. Teorier påstår att Internet ger möjligheten att skära bort delar i distributionskedjan och det kan leda till lägre priser. Internet ger också ökade möjligheter att ändra priser på daglig basis.

De senaste decennierna har en rad streckkodstekniker utvecklats för att grafiskt representera digital information. Gemensamt för dessa är en strävan efter hög densitet, det vill säga kapacitet att lagra mycket data på en liten yta. Densiteten begränsas emellertid av kravet på precision vid tolkning av den digitala datan, eftersom felaktigheter i digital data kan resultera i omfattande informationsförlust.Analog information, exempelvis ljud, är däremot inte beroende av exakthet hos underliggande data i samma utsträckning. En analog ljudsignal kan beskrivas och återges approximativt, och ändå tolkas korrekt av en lyssnare. Detta faktum gör att det finns fördelar med att representera ett ljud utifrån dess analoga egenskaper.

An old and well known problem in sawmilling is to determine which dimensions /products those are most profitable to produce. Existing optimization models maximize the value of the log. In other words, based upon the market prices of the dimensions the models calculate the best way to split the log. Yet there is a great uncertainty if the most well paid dimensions really are the most profitable to produce. The costs of the process from lumber to sawn products are hard to determine and are therefore often left out from the optimization process. In this study the economic contribution of different dimensions/products are analysed.

Inre motivation är per definition en drivkraft i beteendet drivet av intresse och tillfredställelse för arbetet i sig, utan närvaron av yttre belöningar. Då monetära belöningar är väldigt utbrett och kostar företag stora summor är det av intresse att även studera hur motivation påverkas av hur arbetet i sig ser ut.Syftet med denna studie är att med ett kvantitativt förhållningssätt beskriva och analysera vilka dimensioner i arbetet och dess miljö som predicerar inre motivation.De prediktorer som utifrån tidigare teori valts ut är tron på sin egen kompetens, tillhörighet, autonomi, feedback, personlig utveckling och arbetets meningsfullhet. För att besvara syftet har en enkät delats ut till 211 anställda inom organisationen Skandia Advise.Statistiska analyser av resultatet visar att inre motivation till 25 % prediceras av de sex dimensionerna tillsammans. Enbart tron på sin egen kompetens och personlig utveckling är säkerställda som enskilda prediktorer för inre motivation inom Skandia Advise vilket bör tas under beaktning i ett nytt belöningssystem..

De senaste årtiondena har det hänt mycket inom digital teknik i vårt samhälle och människan har mer eller mindre gjort sig beroende av dem. Det talas även om att små barn måste lära sig hantera digitala verktyg och många förskolor runt om i vårt land har nu infört surfplattor till sina avdelningar, men det finns delade meningar angående hur och när och om surfplattan används i förskolan. Bakgrunden till undersökningen kom genom att jag upptäckte dessa  splittrade meningar i användandet av digitala verktyg. Denna kvantitativa undersökning syftar till att få en bild över hur användandet av surfplattan i förskolans verksamhet ser ut i dagsläget.Undersökningen har gjorts med hjälp av enkäter som skickats ut via mail till personal på förskolor runt om i landet. Studien utgår ifrån ett sociokulturellt perspektiv på barns utveckling och samhällets struktur. Resultatet visar att de som idag har tillgång till surfplattan har en positiv syn på användandet och den används till stor del på ett pedagogiskt sätt men samtidigt också som tidsfördriv..

Examensarbetet handlade om att ta fram ett användarvänligt gränssnitt för digital-tv över IP, detta gränssnitt skulle fungera både på en set-top box och på en dator. En set-top box är en mottagare som tar emot en digital kanal och gör om den så den kan visas på en analog tv. Det här gränssnittet skulle också ha ett antal tjänster och vara baserat på HTML. Användargränssnittet skulle ersätta ett så kallat middleware. Detta middleware är länken mellan maskin och människa.

Highland Group AB was helping a customer of theirs to create an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV), a project Highland has never been involved with before. For the wishbone arms of the wheel suspension, traditional manufacturing methods and tubes with cylindrical or square shaped cross section was preferred. We performed a simulation where the ATV was driving on a bumpy road too see the forces involved. With the results we proceeded to calculate the strength of the concepts to find out which is best suited for the tough environment in which the ATV is used. The concept that turned out to be the best was a wishbone made of circular cross section, which had good structural strength and did fulfill the demands that we required for the construction.

There are experiential products that through a digital transformation wholly or partially have taken new place in our everyday lives. Just a few years ago, we had music on CDs, movies on tape and books in bookshelves. In Sweden, we are now facing a transformation when the e-book begins to take place alongside the printed book.This paper focuses on what values play a role in the attitude towards ebooks among a selected group of Swedish book bloggers. A qualitative content analysis was performed on blog posts concerning the ebook from twelve different Swedish book blogs. The posts were then coded into categories and values.

Genom en kritisk diskursanalys söker jag svaret på vilka diskurser som finns i mitt urval av dokument. Med sociokulturellt perspektiv som teoretisk grund väljer jag att titta på kunskap och lärande. Utgångspunkt för analysen är Europarådets rekommendationer inom programmet Utbildning 2010, där ett underlag gavs i form av åtta nyckelkompetenser för livslångt lärande (EU 2006a). Jag tittar på digital kompetens, som är en av nyckelkompetenserna som varje europeisk medborgare ska utveckla. Jag analyserar också dokument som finns med i processen för den reformerade svenska gymnasieskolan Gy 2011.
