Vi omges sta?ndigt av ljus i va?r vardag, det finns naturligt ljus samt artificiellt. A?ven under de gra? dagarna finns det ljus och dess na?rvaro a?r alltid da?r a?ven om den inte alltid a?r som klarast. I detta kandidatarbete beskrivs ljuset ur olika synvinklar, men framfo?rallt hur Rembrandt och impressionisterna i sina konstverk anva?nt ljuset i sitt skapande.

The objective of this thesis was to present a design proposal on a modular mechanicalstructure for a nanosatellite. The size of the structure should follow the CubeSatstandards. This standard divides satellites in units (U), where 1U is equivalent to acube where sides measure 100 mm. 2U corresponds to the same volume and size as2 assembled 1U structures, and so on. The focus was to develop a structure in theorder of 3U and 6U.At the integration in the satellite launch rocket, there are a couple of differentinterfaces, where the structure is adapted to common ones; P-POD and CSD.

During 2001-2002 a prototype, IMIS (Integrated Mobile Information System) was developed at BTH (Blekinge University of Technology) to demonstrate how mobile IT-systems can be used in healthcare. The prototype was based on the activity theory of Engeström. An ongoing project started in spring 2003. The purpose of the project is further development of IMIS with special focus in the diabetes healthcare. Participants in the project are scientists and students at BTH, ALMI Företagspartner, Blekinge FoU-enhet, Barndiabetesförbundet Blekinge, Blekinge Diabetesförening, Vårdcentralen Ronneby and Vårdcentralen Sölvesborg.

This study presents an alternate viewpoint to the strive to overcome the gap between research and practitioners within paper prototyping in interaction design. Earlier research identifies three aspects of this gap, which is:Practitioners being unaware of interaction design methods and theoriesPractitioners being aware, but choosing not to apply these methods and theories, due to time, budget and constraints of labourPractitioners and research having different perspective on similar design issuesOur study was done by carrying out qualitative interviews with interaction designers based on two digital design bureaus. One of the bureaus has an expressed link to research: the other has not. Our hypothesis is that the gap would manifest as a difference in work practice between the two bureaus.Our study shows that the two bureaus have similarities in work practice and that this work practice is based on scientific methods and theories, but is adapted to fit the client and/or the project. We conclude that the overcoming of the gap might not be necessary.

It is important that the language in textbooks for foreign language learners reflects the language that the learners would encounter in real life. For this reason, the presence of the thousand most common nouns in two Swedish textbooks in Spanish for upper secondary school is observed in this study. Furthermore, this study aims to examine how these nouns occur in order to determine if their pattern of occurence favours the learning and consolidation of words. The main materials that have been used are A Frequency Dictionary of Spanish by Davies (2006) and the word search program available in the digital versions of the textbooks. The results show that the presence of the thousand most common Spanish nouns does reflect the frequency information presented in the frequency dictionary but not all thousand nouns are included.

Internets utveckling har skapat nya förutsättningar för många företag i medieindustrin. För Sveriges Radio AB märks detta exempelvis i den problematik som uppstått i att integrera den digitala verksamheten i produktivitetsmätandet. Syftet med uppsatsen är därför att studera SR och identifiera vilka problem som finns i användandet av ett traditionellt produktivitetsmått, för att sedan analysera och bidra till diskussion kring vad som är relevant att mäta i Internetbaserad verksamhet. Uppsatsen är en explorativ studie av kvalitativ karaktär där vald teori samt två modeller som beskriver kategorisering av prestationsmått och produktivitet och dess koppling till andra relevanta begrepp utgör grunden för analys och diskussion. De slutsatser som framkommit är att de traditionella produktivitetsmåttet tappat relevans och att nya metoder för att mäta output och värde i digital verksamhet är önskvärt.

Image editing software offers unlimited possibilities to alter an image. Provided that digitalinnovation is not altogether positive, it is important to develop knowledge of its negative sides. Thispaper examines the use of digital image processing from a critical IS perspective. Throughqualitative interviews with professional retouchers, the study provides a picture of their ethicalrelation to the software they use for retouching images in advertising. Though, it turns out that thecustomers who order the retouching holds responsibility for what is altered.

Today's children characterized and named according to Palfrey and Gasser for digital natives. Children are shaped by the use of media and ICT (Information- and Communication Technology) in a natural way. If their participation in environments where the media and ICT is common, it leads to other conditionsthan the previous generations. The purpose of this study was to understand and describe what teachers say and do to create involvement in children's use of media and ICT tools. The former media education development works carried out at preschools in Piteå municipality was the starting point and inspiration for the study. Study was based on a qualitative approach. Qualitative interviews and participant observations were carried out at one preschool in Piteå.

Dagens ungdomar lever i en värld där digitala medier ständigt är närvarande. I följande studie analyseras elva högstadieungdomars syn på digitala medier i en skolkontext respektive en privat/fritidskontext. Ungdomarna har fått göra sin röst hörd genom intervjuer. Generellt sett är eleverna positivt inställda till digitala medier. Digitala medier hjälper dem att kommunicera med vänner, familj, släkt och lärare samtidigt som medierna erbjuder spel, underhållning och tillhandahåller verktyg för att exempelvis skriva, hantera och spara information och skolarbeten.

The student union of Karlstad University is always working for the better for the students, so they can feel safe and that their time at the university is trouble free. To get the students to sign up for a membership, the organization have to inform the students about their work and the benefits that a membership brings. The problem is that the target audience is broadbecause there are all students at Karlstad University that are of different sexes, ages and nationalities, this can cause problems when the information must be adapted to each individual in order to make it interesting. The organizations various work areas have not reached the entire audience and therefore requires an information film in which all the areas can be presented in an attractive way that makes it easy for the audience to absorb the information. A strong trend in the world of information films are the so called infographics.

Tidningskompaniet, a publishing agency in Göteborg, has during the spring of 2003 developed a customermagazine for Göteborgsvarvet, a Half Marathon Race in Göteborg. If realized the magazine shallbe distributed to former participants of the race twice a year and will be financed by adverts.As part of the editorial concept, development of a graphic profile will be made for the magazine. Thisdegree project will result in the production of a »dummy« magazine to be presented to the client and tobe used by the advertisement sales people in their work.The magazine, named »Varvet«, will convey the message that anyone can run Göteborgsvarvet. Theintention is to give the magazine a »youthful and sporty« image.The work in this degree project has comprised designing the magazine in co-operation with an editorialconcept developer and a project leader at Tidningskompaniet, and also the production of 18 magazinepages including prepress work. The magazine has been made into a strictly sectionized product,with a mix of short and long articles with lighter material and strict how-to-do-it guides.

Master thesis work at ITN (Department of Science and Technology) in the areas of A/D-construction and RF-circuit design. Major goal of project were to research suitable possibilities for implementations of direct conversion in transceivers operating in the 160MHz band, theoretic study followed by development of components in the construction environment Cadence. Suitable A/D- converter and other important parts were selected at the end of the theoretic study. Subsampling technique was applied to make A/D sample requirements more realistic to achieve. Besides lowering requirements on A/D-converter it allows a more simple construction, which saves more components than subsampling adds.

Samhället står inför stora utmaningar då undersköterskeyrket hotas med stora pensionsavgångar och för få sökande elever till vård och omsorgsprogrammet. Detta kommer att ha en stor påverkan på oss alla då undersköterskeyrket ingår i Sveriges största yrkesområde.I vår studie har vi valt att undersöka elever på vård och omsorgsprogrammet, för att se hur de reflekterar över sin utbildning och se hur social bakgrund är med och påverkar val man gör. Till vår hjälp har vi använt oss av teorier från Pierre Bourdieu, Thomas Brante, Bernt Gustavsson och Gerd Lindgren för att skapa en förståelse kring denna problematik.För att få en bredd i vår studie har vi valt att använda en kvantitativ metod i form av enkäter som vi lämnade ut till gymnasielever på vård och omsorgsprogrammet. Resultatet av enkäterna visar bland annat på att elevernas sociala bakgrund har en viss inverkan på gymnasievalet och utbildning. Resultatet visar även att många av eleverna har som mål att studera vidare efter gymnasiet vilket leder till ett stort rekryteringsbehov som drabbar hela vård- och omsorgssektorn..
