Most swedish newspapers have a homepage where their news are presented. Existing guidelines describing how to write for the web often recommends you to keep it short and stay objective. But how about longer pieces of content presented in the print version? What will become of reports, interviews and essays as we?ve come to know them as the printed newspaper goes digital?Interviews with representatives of five swedish newspapers shows that the extent to wich content is being published on the web is connected to the overall purpose of the web presence. The fact that many newspapers does not publish longer pieces of text on the web rather seems to be an economic issue, than a matter of good readability.Past studies shows that longer pieces of text may well work on the web, if the reader?s interest is big enough.

Tekniska system i förskolan : 3-5 åringars uppfattningar om mobiltelefoni

 This report will describe a project between two students from Karlstad University and Markus Norström from Hovercraft solutions. The project aim was to develop a cabin for the hovercraft 380TD. The project was divided into two sub parts; one concerning the design of the cabin and one concerning the engineering. Throughout this rapport you can follow the engineering part of the project. The project has followed a systematic product development process resulting in optimized results for material selection and engineering solutions.

Den optimala bloggen : En kvalitativ studie om bloggläsares attityder och idéer kring bloggdesign

The purpose of this study is to examine which aspects of blogs and blog design that are important to blog readers but also to find new ideas for blog design. From a qualitative standpoint we have examined how seven users experience that blogs design, structure and functionalities affects the general experience of the blog. The study also examines how the users wish to interact with a blog. During two design workshops we let seven active blog readers imagine and sketch out the design and functionalities they would like in a blog. We put this in relation to theories about the anatomy of blogs, methods of design, social navigation and virtual communities.The major finding is that the aspects most important to blog readers are navigation, structure and social interaction.

Social media have become a bigger and bigger aspect of daily life for many ages and especially within the youth culture growing from digital interactions. At the same time libraries seems eager to use this medium to reach out to the youth to inform and to educate. But do we know enough about how these two groups? views each other to be effective at this work? And is it even something that is wanted? What?s the image of social media from their point of view?The goal of this study is to investigate the image of social media from the point of view of two groups, librarians and youth. The study is based on a qualitative approach with a random selection of candidates.

Design av komponentbaserade entitetssystem

Ett entitetssystem är ett sätt att hantera entiteter i ett spel och är ett relativt nytt och outforskat område. Syftet med det här arbetet är att utvärdera två olika entitetssystem, en aggregationsbaserad design och en dataorienterad design samt bidra med hur en dataorienterad design kan se ut och realiseras. Entitetssystemen implementeras i programmeringsspråket C++ tillsammans med ett exempelspel som används för att utvärdera entitetssystemen. Entitetsystemens effektivitet uppmäts i uppdaterade entiteter per sekund och antalet cachemissar per sekund genom ett experiment med exempelspelet. Det dataorienterade entitetssystemet visar på mindre cachemissar och fler uppdaterade entiteter per sekund när det totala antalet entiteter och antalet entiteter som dör per sekund varieras.

Från ax till möbel : förnyelsebara material som möbler

Förnyelsebara och/eller miljövänliga plaster som t.ex. biokompositer är ett eftersatt område inom möbelindustrin, där utvecklingen hittills ofta har inriktats på återvunna material. Jag har koncentrerat mitt projekt till detta område med inriktning på det förnyelsebara materialet veteglutenkomposit(VG) i samarbete med forskningsföretaget STFI-Packforsk och gjort ett flertal experiment i materialet. Det slutgiltiga resultatet har blivit en komposterbar stol i VG och ett flertal urnor samt materialprover. En av de stora fördelarna med materialet är att det är komposterbart och redan efter några veckor bryts ner vid kompostering, vilket bidrar till att dess miljöpåverkan blir så liten som möjligt.Vetegluten är en restprodukt från produktionen av etanol och kan när det blandas med glycerol och pressas under högt tryck och värme bilda materialet VG.

SKARV

Arbetet kretsar kring tre huvudkategorier. Hållbarhet, designprocess och kriminalvård. Första delen innehåller informationssökning för att skapa en stabil grund till arbetet. Efterhand övertar ett parallellt arbete med de tre huvudkategorierna som till sist utmynnar i en produktionsfas där tillverkning på Industritextil Job sker för att ta fram en skiljevägg i skala 1:1. Stor vikt läggs vid att sätta sig in i vilka behov som bör lösas på anstalten.

Hur designar man en e-handelssite: : är designers och dokumenterad forskning överens?

This paper examines and summarizes rules, guidelines and methods for how an e-commerce site should be designed, which elements it should contain and where these should be placed. Our approach consists of two phases. First we comprise relevant research within the target area. This is then divided into logical themes and is used as a foundation for an interview guide, which will be used in the second phase. After this, in the second phase, we conduct qualitative interviews with designers that are actively working with design of e--?commerce  sites.

Lekflöde i Varbergaskogen : Affordans som synsätt vid formgivning av en naturslinga för barn

Drawing on earlier research, and using observations as the method, this study presents a design of a nature playscape for children. Applying outdoor pedagogy to the fundamental structure of a specific location, the study proposes a design of a playscape, over a more obvious design, for instance one based around a quiz walk.The theoretical framework is Gibson?s theory of affordance, and the goal has been to create a "play flow". The study concludes that spatial rhetorics can be an important tool when teaching children about nature..

Undersökning av Södra-transportörernas användande av KOLA-systemet

The purpose of this study was to create a picture of Södra´s round wood transporters usage, and positive or negative experiences of the KOLA-system. The KOLA-system, owned and managed by SDC, is a program for handling timber orders and displaying their locations on digital maps. The study was conducted as a twenty-three question internet-based survey. Of those asked to complete the survey, 57 percent chose to answer the questions. The results of the study indicated that several of the transporters found the system quite good and used it to a large extent. The system also had many deficiencies however, and there was clear potential for further increasing the usage of the system.

?Ett fantastiskt redskap!? En studie om hur personer i åldern 65 ? 75 år använder och upplever Internet i sin vardag

The main purpose of this master thesis is to investigate how six elderly individuals, 65-75 years old, use and perceive Internet in their everyday life. The focus in this study is to enlighten elderly people as Internet-users.In 2010 many elderly people are still digital excluded. In Europe and in Sweden efforts are made to educate citizens to use the Internet, and that benefits of the digital society should be available to all.This study is based on the following questions: what made the informants take an interest in the Internet in the first place? How and for what purpose do they use it? And how do the informants regard to their own Internet usage and its importance in society?We interviewed six people aged 65-75 years old, using semi-structured questions. The data was analyzed by using the theory developed by Hektor concerning Internet and information behaviour in everyday life.

The Low Line : ett gestaltningsförslag med inspiration från The High Line

In the summer of 2009 the High Line opened in New York, a park built on an out-of use elevated rail viaduct. The park meanders its way through the buildings and allows the visitor to see the city from a totally different perspecive than we are used to.I have made a Design proposal in Eriksdalslunden, Stockholm, with inspiration from the High Line. The proposal is based on design ideas of a park I logically call the Low Line, as the place isn't elevated as in New York, but lowered. The two places have some similarities, mainly the strong urban identity and the tracks crossing both areas. They also have very obvious differences, above all the fact that Eriksdalslunden is situated in a swale and is defined in a third dimension by the high bridges that crosses the area.The High Line is designed by James Corner Field Operations, and they have been working using their motto 'Keep it Simple, Keep it Wild, Keep it Quiet and Keep it Slow' during the whole process, words that normally aren't associated to Manhattan.

Design and implementation of a 5GHz radio front-end module

The overall goal of this diploma work is to produce a design of a 5 GHz radio frontend using Agilent Advanced Design System (ADS) and then build a working prototype. Using this prototype to determine if RF circuits at 5 GHz can be successfully produced using distributed components on a laminate substrate. The design process for the radio front-end consists of two stages. In the first stage the distributed components are designed and simulated, and in the second stage all components are merged into a PCB. This PCB is then manufactured and assembled.

Therefore it is essential how the working environment is designed in an office. Working in an office means a lot of information processing and we can see large changes taking place.
