I analysen har jag utgått från ett genusperspektiv.Huvudresultat:Jag har funnit en framställning av femininitet och två framställningar av maskulinitet i "The Vampire Diaries". De båda maskulina framställningarna liknar varandra samtidigt som det finns skillnader mellan dem.

The aim of this essay is to study Diaries and letters from Swedish soldiers during the Great Nordic War, more specifically those written during the campaign 1707-1721 against Russia, in search of religious coping and religious parables. The theoretic framework is evolved around Kenneth Pargament?s theory about religious coping, and Ana-Maria Rizzuto?s theory about object relations. The method used can be described as hermeneutic.The questions at hand were:- How did Swedish soldiers during the war against Russia relate to God, and express image of God and religious concepts?- Did the soldiers express themselves in terms of spiritual coping and in that case to what extent?The conclusions were that the soldiers used religious coping as a method of survival.

During the last year?s Swedish agriculture have had difficult times, with decreasing prices and at the same time increasing production costs, which has led to bad profitability and faith in the future. The dairies in Sweden have also had a rough time and there have been large rationalizations during the years. In the beginning of the 20th century there were almost 1700 Diaries in the Swedish countryside. There has been a large technical development during the 20th century resulting in a decrease in Diaries to only 46 in the whole country today. They are owned by 15 diary companies, of which 7 large and dominate on the market and the rest are small-scale companies. With this development the confidence and feeling for the diary companies also has decreased.

The purpose of this essay is to examine how the supernatural and the occult are portrayed inpopular culture. To be able to do this, I have chosen to perform a discourse analysis of the twofirst novels in the L. J Smith series The Vampire Diaries. The novels are called TheAwakening and The Struggle.I apply the following questions in my analysis to narrow down the perspective further.?In what situations are supernatural used in the books and what part does it play??How does the supernatural affect the main characters and how is this portrayed in the novel??How is the supernatural portrayed depending on the gender of the character?I will focus mostly on the vampires since they generally are the ones who introduce thesupernatural elements into the story.I am applying gender theory in my discourse analyses of the novels, to hopefully be able togive a wider picture of the supernatural in relation to gender in the novels.I begin with analyzing the main discourses in the story, revolving around the supernatural.Secondly I analyze what impact the supernatural has on the main character.

The aim of this study is to examine the information behavior of younger seniors with a special focus on the Internet. Using a qualitative method consisting of a case study, including observations, Diaries, questionnaires, and information Diaries, we were able to compare the information behavior of the seniors in their use of the Internet, with the information behavior in their everyday life. The result of the study shows that the respondents led very active lives and used many different information sources in everyday life. They did not only seek information, but also assimilated it, often with a purpose to mediate it to other people. The motives behind the information use in everyday life were mainly connected to their life situations.

Aims: The aim of this study was to describe how patients that received a patient diary after their stay at an intensive care unit (ICU) had used the diary and if they found it useful for dealing with their stay in the ICU. The study also aimed to investigate if the patients felt a need for discussing their stay in the ICU and the diary with a registered nurse.Method: The study was performed as an interview study with explorative design. Six informants participated in the study. Recorded personal interviews were held with the informants. The recorded material was transcribed and analysed using qualitative content analysis on a manifest level.Results: This study shows that informants have used their Diaries to establish a conception of what they have experienced during their stay in the ICU.

The purpose of this thesis is to find out if people have changed the way in which they write since the introduction of the internet. Men and women have been writing books, articles, letters, Diaries and different types of literature for centuries. To give the reader some background about the weblog as a literary media, this thesis has a whole chapter on half-public literature that includes the history of letters and Diaries. The weblog is a unique way for anyone to be whoever they want, whether it be a man or woman, old or young. The reader has no possible way of knowing if the script is true or not.

Purpose: The aim of this thesis has been to study and obtain greater understanding of the consequences of active social media use. Specifically, in terms of social identity, social life and the sense of belonging. Secondly, the thesis studies the consequences of disconnecting and for a limited amount of time opt out of the social media context.Method/material:  The study is based on an explorative, cultural ethnographically-inspired method, in which four respondents were studied: two men and two women, all frequent users of social media. This was done in three steps: initial interviews, followed by social media Diaries and finally a focus group. By allowing these methods to complement each other, the goal was to create an overall picture of the importance of social media in their everyday lives.The study's focus lies on the week in which the respondents kept social media Diaries.

In the discourse of teaching it?s often mentioned that the pupil?s previous knowledge and experience plays an important part in the process of learning. For the teachers it?s in general crucial to be familiar with their pupils abilities and skills, talents and shortcomings in order to successfully teach them. Knowledge and an understanding of their pupils, also helps the teacher to organize and customize a successful teaching for each individual.

This work is meant to contribute to the research of adaptation studies by focusing on a special case: the transformation of a fictional diary into a movie. In order to sustain the form of the literary source the adaptation to movie requires certain strategies. Först of all, the diary genre is characterized by a one-dimensional narration. Second, Diaries only supply a few written dialogues, hence this "void" has to be compensated and filled by media specific measures. Third, the investigated diary is a story of individualization and emancipation of a single woman.

This paper investigates the relationship between the two modernist writers Katherine Mansfield and Virginia Woolf. The two authors had a frail and complicated friendship that influenced their fiction and fictional characters more than the general public knows. My paper investigates how Woolf can have found her fictional story ideas direct from their friendship. With a comparative theory I?m finding and giving examples of how their friendship is reflected in their fictional stories, and I?m backing up my examples with citations from their own Diaries, letters and notebooks.

Abstract:According to the curriculum of the Swedish school the pupils should develop their historical consciousness. The aim of this study was to find out which pupils develop this consciousness by listing to an historical novel, talking about that book and writing stories. The study went on for four weeks and the subject of the teaching was the Middle Ages. 28 pupils took part and a variety of methods were used: 1: questionnaire about the lives of the pupils, 2: Making observations of their attitude to the teaching and 3: story writing. The results show that the social background does not influence the development of an historical consciousness.
