Kolik är ett vanligt sjukdomskomplex hos hästar som i vissa fall kan kräva kirurgisk behandling. Kirurgisk behandling är dyrt och komplicerat varför många studier har gjorts för att försöka förklara vad som påverkar prognosen efter buköppning. Resultaten i de olika studierna skiljer sig åt i många fall, vilket gör det intressant att undersöka hur prognosen ser ut för de hästar som genomgår kirurgisk behandling av kolik vid Universitetsdjursjukhuset (UDS) i Uppsala. Syftet med studien var att undersöka och beskriva prognosen för hästar som genomgått bukkirurgi på UDS samt att undersöka hästägarnas inställning till buköppning. Studien är en retrospektiv studie kombinerat med en telefonintervju med ägarna till inkluderade hästar. Av de hästar som togs till operation överlevde 60.2 % så att de skickades hem, överlevnad fram till hemgång räknat på de hästar som överlevde operation och uppvak var 81.5 %.

The schools purpose is to educate students according to events that are of current interest and take place in present time. According to Swedish curriculum, Lpf94, all Swedish education should include and discuss the problems surrounding durable development. The purpose of the study is to se how the textbooks in History, Social studies and Geography and their contents meet the demands of the curriculum. The study shows that only the textbooks in geography meets the demands that the curriculums have on durable development.

Android is one of the leading software platforms for the new generation of smartphones. The market for applications is growing rapidly. So to be able to compete with such large competition the applications need a solid and stable development methodology. Therefore have we created an application based on a test-driven development, to investigate if the methodology was applicable on the Android platform. The conclusion is that Android?s suitability for test-driven development is dependent on the application that is being developed and if difficulties concerning the testing framework can be avoided.

Dagens samtida konflikter skiljer sig ganska markant ifrån den typ av krigsföring som vi är vana att se den, exempelvis under andra världskriget där reguljära förband stred mot varandra med de allierade på ena sidan fronten och axelmakterna på den andra. I dagens konflikter är nyttjandet av irreguljära förband vanligt förekommande vilket har lett till att reguljära förband måste strida på helt andra villkor och omständigheter än förut.Under Vietnamkriget startades Operation Fenix i syfte att bemöta denna nya typ av krigsföring och de metoder som användes av den amerikanska underrättelsetjänsten var något som inte hade prövats tidigare. Tyvärr gav dessa metoder inte det underrättelsevärde som det var tänkt till en början men frågan står fortfarande kvar hur dessa metoder påverkade VCIs (Viet Cong Infrastructure)  krigföringsförmåga.Syftet med denna uppsats är att i en fallstudie granska om de metoder som Operation Fenix använde under Vietnamkriget var effektiva gentemot irreguljära styrkor samt om det finns något stöd gentemot dessa metoder i militärteorin.I uppsatsen används en teoriprövande fallstudie där David Galulas teorier implementeras i ett analysverktyg skapat utav de tre pelarna i krigföringsförmågor där varje faktor analyseras och slutligen sammanfogas till resultat till den givna frågeställningen.Denna uppsats visar på att de effekter Operation Fenix hade på de irreguljära moståndarna har ett visst samband med de teorier David Galula skapat gällande Counterinsurgency Warfare..

This report is about an investigation which has been done as an assignment in aninternational company. An Intranet has been implemented in parts of this company, andprimarily there is a local group of people in the company which is responsible for thelocal Intranet as an informationsystem. This local group of people is also responsiblefor further development of the use of Intranet as an informationssystem in the localorganisation. To create a starting-point for this development, I have done aninvestigation that deals with:· acceptance of Intranet as informationssystem among members of the industrialmanagement.- what factors affect acceptance of Intranet in a negative way- what factors affect acceptance of Intranet in a positive way· rules by which further development of Intranet is supposed to be based on· existing and needed Intranet-applications..

Distributed system development is a common occurrence in today?s technological and global world. Because the consequences of its geographically distributed nature it creates barriers between people that affects their communication and collaboration efforts in the distributed context. Despite a lot of technological breakthroughs over the last decades and the occurrence of video-conference applications and other tools for communication and collaboration, cultural and geographical issues have so far not yet been completely resolved. In this study I have made a literature study over distributed system development to form a set of central factors that affects the distributed development process.

The purpose of this case study is to see how all the involved parties; students, custodians and teachers look upon ?A meeting of learning ? personal development dialogue that is led by children and young people?, on a school south of Stockholm. Our questions at issue were to see what the students had learned from their personal development dialogue, if the custodians had received all the information they expected to get from a personal development dialogue, and last but not least if all the involved parties; students, custodians and teachers, wanted to continue with this model? We used interviews and paper questionnaires to collect answers to our case study and the questions at issue. In both the interviews and paper questionnaires we could see that an overwhelming majority had a positive opinion about students leading and ?owning? their personal development dialogue, especially the students themselves.

This thesis is performed in collaboration with Kraftpowercon AB in Surte, Sweden. Focus has been on to identify the powerlosses in one of Kraftpowercons halfbridge DC-DC converters. First theoretical calculations are made, the calculations is verified with measurements of six different operation modes. In a later stage, methods like soft switching and synchronous rectifying are proposed to increase the efficiency for the converter. To achieve softswitching for the halfbridge, the LLC resonant converter topologies are implemented and examined.

The objective of this study was investigating social worker?s perspective of how alcohol consumption can affect, and what elements in the social environment that may be of significance for, alcohol consumption and development of identity. The questions at issue were: Do social workers experience any positive effects from alcohol consumption in 16-17 year-old girls with problematic alcohol consumption and what influence do the effects have on self esteem, self image and development of identity? What do social workers experience are the negative effects from alcohol consumption on self esteem, self image and development of identity? How important do social workers find the social environment and how do they believe the social environment affect the alcohol consumption and development of identity? This was investigated with a qualitative approach from a social worker?s perspective, hence social workers were interviewed. The study?s theoretical basis was Symbolic Interactionism and Erikson?s theory of Psychosocial Development.

Today many companies are using advertising agencies in marketing. That makes the advertising agencies responsible for delivering their clients messages and values to the final customer. Therefore it is very important that communication between an advertising agency and their client works in a way that they have similar marketing goals, despite all the factors that may distract this communication.The object of this essay is to study communication between advertising agencies and their clients, especially when it comes to setting up goals and that way highlight the problems that may occur and to make both the advertising agencies and their clients understand the importance of successful communication.We have done our research by interviewing representatives from advertising agencies and clients to advertising agencies. The interviews have given us some understanding on the subject which we have based our theories on, so we have used an inductive and hermeneutic approach to the subject.By modifying the theories we chose from the beginning and adapting them to the results of our research we have tried to show the advertising agencies and their clients the importance of effective and reliable communication between them. We also want to highlight the problems that may occur in the communication and give advice that hopefully can be used to improve the communication.The communication seems to work well and so does, according to our interviewees the co-operation overall.

Denna studie undersöker hur elever i årskurs 4 uppfattar likhetstecknet. Syftet är att undersöka om elevernas uppfattningar av likhetstecknet kan förklaras av dess framställning i läroböckerna. Tre svenska läromedelsserier för årskurs 1 till 3 studeras där uppgifter med likhetstecknets kategoriseras och klassificeras. Studien visar att likhetstecknet i nio fall av tio presenteras på traditionellt vis, det vill säga där räkneoperation är lika med svar (t.ex. 2+5=7).

Dahl also states that there are several factors that effect the development of democracy. In today?s world it is mostly developing countries that have failed to bring about democratic changes.

Under våra fältstudiedagar tyckte vi oss kunna se att patienter ofta kan vara orolig då vi som anestesisjuksköterskor möter dem på operation. Framförallt när patienten väl har kommit till operation och snart ska få sin anestesi. Som det ser ut idag är det på operation anestesisjuksköterskor möter sin patient för första gången, alltså i patientens intraoperativa fas. Detta beror oftast på att det inte finns tid eller ges någon möjlighet att ha något pre- eller postoperativt möte. Under denna korta tid skapa en relation med patienten och dämpa eventuell oro samtidigt som verksamheten idag har en tendens till att vilja effektivisera bort en del av denna viktiga och redan korta tid.

Rapid urbanization causes competition over land use between green area preservation and urban development in cities and greatly affects ecosystems as well as human well-being. This conflict is significant all around the world as many cities are now replacing existing green areas with new developments. The area around Dag Hammarskjöld's väg in Uppsala is currently experiencing the same conflict, as the need that the city has for new housing represents a threat for the many valuable green areas that are in the site. The purpose of this project was to understand how the need of urban development and the preservation of green areas could be balanced. This understanding would thereafter be used to make a design proposal for the area around Dag Hammarskjöld's väg.

The aim was to describe the experiences of couples where the male partner had undergone radical prostatectomy due to prostate cancer. Furthermore, the study explored how the operation had affected their sexual life, whether the couples had received enough post surgical support and information concerning these issues, and to describe the kind of support and information these couples desired. Twenty men and ten partners participated. All the men experienced a varying degree of post surgical erectile dysfunction and only five men had received support concerning their sexual life. Eleven men desired professional visiting support activities.
