I dagens samhälle ökar datoranvändandet stadigt och datorerna blir snabbare och snabbare. Trots detta står utvecklingen på ett område i det närmaste still, gränssnitten till våra operativsystemet. Den stora majoriteten av dagens gränssnitt bygger på samma principer som när de introducerades för över 20 år sedan, dessa principer kallas för WIMP vilket står för window, icon, menu och pointing device. Då operativsystemet kan sägas vara basen för allt arbete med en dator och till väldigt stor del styr effektiviteten i användningen, kan man undra varför inte mer har hänt på detta område. Syftet med vår undersökning är att visa på att det dels finns tydliga användbarhetsproblem med dagens dominerande gränssnitt, samt att det finns flera alternativ som erbjuder annorlunda lösningar.

Problem: The corrugated board industry is highly affected by customer uncertainty, various demands and short delivery times. In combination with a complex multi-step production process managers have to be able to identify bottle-necks and gain knowledge and understanding of how different changes in process will affect the production output. <br/><br/>Purpose: The purpose of this master thesis is twofold, (1) to examine applicability of complexity theory through agent-based modelling on a production process (2) to identify improvement areas in order to increase the production output at SKS production site in Eslöv, by modelling and simulating the production process through an agent-based model. <br/><br/>Method: The chosen method of this study is a combination of a case study and a complex system approach. The empirical data was collected through interviews, observation and document studies which were analysed through an agent-based simulation model.

One way to spread information and messages to the employees is by using internal Storytelling. The use of internal Storytelling aims to create an environment to build up an engaged personnel. Organizations use internal Storytelling when they want to create collective stories and frame of references among the employees within the organization, and also spread the values of the brand and information about the organization.Problem statement: How can internal marketing be affected by internal Storytelling?Method: Our study is based on a case-study of SCA Packaging Sweden AB.

Problem discussion: That empowerment and autonomy can lead to desirable effects on employees is clear. Previous research has found correlations between empowerment and e.g. motivation, job satisfaction, productivity, loyalty and commitment. However, a control problem arises when employees have more freedom in decision-making which could potentially lead to undesirable outcomes. It thus becomes a type of dilemma for management and managers where you have to try to balance a restrictive use of the control system (to maintain control) and an enabling use (to promote empowerment).Purpose: The purpose of this study is therefore to identify how a company can use its control system in order to achieve empowerment while maintaining acceptable levels of control.

As competing organizations struggle to become more effective, one field stands out as one of the vital keys to success; internal communication. Even small errors in information handling can end up into obstacles that seem impossible to overcome. Managers constantly need to adjust the internal communication to fit variables that mirror the structure of the organization. This thesis is a study about how and in what magnitude structure affects organization?s internal communication.We have done qualitative interviews with McDonald?s and Diesel, two different global organizations within the branch of service business.

Bakgrund: Tiden har blivit en av de viktigaste resurserna i världen. Tidspressen har ökat och drabbar alltfler arbetare och ledare med ohälsa i arbetslivet. Risken är stor att organisationer missar en del av sitt lärande och sinprestanda då det blivit allt svårare att hantera tidsproblematiken.Syfte: Attundersöka vad som begränsar tid, men också vad som frigör den hos chefer ochinom organisationer samt hur dessa aktivt arbetar med tidsproblematiken och dess upplevelser.Design/metod/tillvägagångssätt: Uppsatsen inspireras av socialkonstruktivism och grundad teori. Det ingår i chefernasarbete att hantera flera tidsdimensioner samt gränser. På så sätt har de benägenhet att utveckla nya strategier för att både kunna hantera och optimera tid.Resultat: Påfrestningen av att alltid vara tillgänglig, hantera en stor mängd information samt svårigheten att prioritera informationen beskrivs som tidskrävande.

Bakgrund: Målstyrning är ett styrsätt som används i nittio procent av Sveriges kommuner. Enligt forskare i ämnet målstyrning inom offentliga verksamheter har det emellertid ofta påpekats en rad problem som att mål ofta är vaga och att det råder brist på dialog mellan politiker och tjänstemän. Tidigare undersökningar har främst fokuserat på målformulering och befunnit sig på en övergripande nivå. Detta arbete studerar hur chefer inom bildnings- och socialförvaltning upplever målstyrning inom en svensk kommun. Detta på grund av att det inte har gjorts i samma utsträckning samt för att se hur styrsättet fungerar för de som använder målstyrning i verkligheten.Syfte: Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur målstyrning upplevs som styrmetod av förvaltningschefer och verksamhetschefer inom en svensk kommun.Metod: För att kunna besvara syftet har en deduktiv fallstudie gjorts på två förvaltningar, bildnings- och socialförvaltningen, inom en kommun i Östergötland.

70 percent of Sweden´s municipalities say they do not have vacant rental flats and a shortage is emerging, during the same time are 1.1 million young people ready to enter the housing market. In order to curb the housing shortage, have the Swedish politicians since the postwar period chosen to stimulate the market with subsidies to increase new production and to control that what is built is in the right direction. The construction industry is perceived as conservative, and many argue that the state keeps it under their wings, which has led to that the development not has progressed in the same way as other, non-subsidy regulated industries.The purpose of ours bachelor thesis is to provide an overall picture and describe the underlying problems of the housing shortage at the rental market. In addition, we want to present theories about where possible actions could take place in the market, by illuminate the problem from the differente actors perspective.To fulfill our purpose and provide a deeper understanding of the problem we have chosen a qualitative approach. We interviewed nine different actors on the Swedish housing market, two managers, two to representatives of Halmstad Municipality, a representative for the construction operators and four different interest groups.

BACKGROUND: Project based structures has become more and more common in the organizations of today. As the project based structures are given a more central role in the organizations the interdependencies between the projects are getting more attention. These structures need a new type of control to meet the unique challenges that arise. The researchthat has been done has been concentrated around the project form and the projects internal control, the area of multi-project management is therefore relatively unexplored. The few existing studies on the subject focus on projects in the construction industry why research inmore complex fields of business have been requested.PURPOSE: The purpose of this thesis is to explore and analyze how knowledge intense multi-project organizations manage their project activities, and to determine how different organizational characteristics affect the need for management control systems.METHODOLOGY: The empirical data has been collected through interviews with personnel in BT Products R&D, Gambro R&D and AstraZeneca Development.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the connection between store layout and how it affects us as shoppers. We formed our research questions based on literature. The study was based on observations of shoppers without their knowing they were observed. We didn?t tell shoppers since the science of shopping says that shoppers pattern of movement is something that?s subconscious and if the shoppers had known it would have affected the result of the study.

ITT Flygt is a world leading company that mainly manufactures submersible pumps. A problem of ITT Flygt is that product development projects rarely manage to hold the estimated project time. It shows that something unexpected occurs in projects quite often, which results in delays. The delays can both be due to an optimistic time plan of projects and risks in product development projects which are not discovered at an early stage. This added with unforeseen delays makes it difficult for ITT Flygt to estimate the duration of their projects.The goal with the Master thesis is to examine a suitable method for simulation of project time.

For nearly twenty years people have been talking about Product models, but given that the building industry is so conservative, it is hard to implement new working methods. Product models are these days known as Building Information Modeling, BIM. People often say they work with BIM but they often forget the most important part, the information. A 3D model should be linked with characteristics and information. Information that can be invaluable for the facility manager.We have a vision that in the best of worlds the facility manager would be able to "walk" into the model and see what kind of installations are inside the wall or in the roof.
