Research indicates that a more hands-on education in mathematics could improve how students relate to mathematics. Laboratory mathematics is a way of making mathematics more concrete.  How is the purpose of laboratory mathematics perceived? This thesis has its focus on the pupils? perceptions of the purpose of laboratory mathematics, but the intention of the teacher involved is also investigated. The main research questions asked were:What is the teacher's definition of laboratory mathematics?Which is the teacher's purpose in using laboratory education?How do the students perceive the purpose of the laboratory teaching of mathematics?To answer the questions, I conducted a series of qualitative interviews.

As a result of directives from EU, with the ambition to reach environmetal goals, The German organisation Passivhaus Institut has defined a passive house. A passive house is a building that is very energy efficient and makes a small impact on the environment. The energy from the inhabitants as well as the appliances & fixtures in the building should equal the energy that is required to heat the building. A Swedish version of the passive house definition has been defined, taking into account the climate conditions and the difference in building regulations.This thesis is a request from Skanska on how it can improve and develop an ongoing passive house project, involving an infant school. The intention of this thesis is to identify difficulties & display potential development areas for infant schools.The method of research conducted is as follows: interviews of clients, ventilation consultant, consultant for heating system and an energy calculation consultant, an inspection of the infant shcool in process, investigation of completed infant schools and a study of relevant literature.From this research it was found that it is difficult for infant schools to pass the criteria for passive houses. The conclusion of this thesis provide several guidelines on how to improve the outcome of existing projects & the steps needed to be taken for future development in this area..

Several public libraries are displaying media, such as literature, on the websites of their own. The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to make a survey of the display phenomenon at Swedish public libraries. Therefore the authors of this essay seek to understand why media is being displayed on the websites of public libraries, how it is being displayed and what kind of consequences the displaying will provide according to the respondents. The theoretical framework is based on different theories where marketing and availability defines the equal summary.

Datorer och annan informations- och kommunikationsteknik har på flera sätt underlättat arbetet för många användare, men kan också bidra till kognitiva arbetsmiljöproblem och teknikstress. För att undersöka hur teknikstress uppstår på den moderna arbetsplatsen, där tekniken är en mobil och integrerad del av användarnas arbetsmiljö, behövs ett perspektiv på interaktionen mellan människan och tekniken som utforskar hela omgivningen. I den här uppsatsen föreslås ett distribuerat perspektiv på människans interaktion med teknik för att skapa en ökad förståelse för teknikstressens orsaker. Det distribuerade perspektivet har tagit undersökningen ut på fältet för att genom direktobservation och videoinspelning studera olika aspekter av interaktionen med teknik som över tid kan leda till teknikstress för användaren. Även en välbeprövad enkät om teknikstress delades ut för att samla in information om den kognitiva arbetsmiljön.

Dataspelsproblematik är ett eskalerande problem som har visat sig påverka många unga människors utveckling och välbefinnande. Syftet med denna studie var därför att undersöka ungas dataspelsproblematik, vilka konsekvenser ett överdrivet dataspelande medför samt vilken behandling som ges till unga med dataspelsproblematik. Empirin erhölls genom kvalitativa intervjuer med professionella som arbetar med denna typ av problematik vid verksamheterna Game Over och Theory in Action. Resultatet visade att dataspelsproblematik idag inte har en bestämd definition och att det är ett problem som inte är tillräckligt uppmärksammat. Synen på orsaker till dataspelsproblematik hos unga är komplext då det kan tänkas bero på många olika faktorer.

The regime theory is the dominant paradigm in the studies of urban politics in USA. It provides a set of concepts to analyse the change from government to governance in the American local politics. The regime theory postulates that governing power in local government tends to be highly fragmented. The private sector has with its control of economic resources a major influence in shaping governing decisions. In this essay I study the regime theory in a Swedish context to investigate if the theory is pertinent when studying of Swedish local governance.

The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of women's violence against men in intimate relationships, get an idea of ??what forms of expression that this type of violence has and to highlight the men's experiences of violence.There is little scientific research in the field in Sweden. Crime Prevention Council has determined that eight percent of all complaints involving domestic violence in 2010, reported by men over 18 years. You can only speculate on how large number of unreported cases is among abused men. The international studies highlight that the abused men feel ashamed of having been subjected to violence by a female partner.I have been based this essay on two theoretical premises, Per Isdal theory of "violence perspective" and Elaine Bergqvist's definition of the suppression technique.The study was conducted through a qualitative content analysis.

The aim of the study was to understand how an elementary school interpreted and worked with the law Skollagen (SFS 2010:800) concerning special needs in school additionally in which way a neuropsychiatric diagnosis might interact with the interpretation. To answer the aim we used following research problems: How does the school define the term special needs and special resources itself? How does the school identify pupils with special needs and work with them? In which way does the neuropsychiatric diagnosis affect the interpretation of the law concerning special needs when it comes to deciding whether a pupil is in need of special recourses? Skollagen (SFS 2010:800) does not define special recourses and does not indicate how the school should use them. We were therefore interested in how an elementary school defined the term and decided to work with it. We based our study upon interviews with 6 respondents whom are central in the process of providing special resources for children in school.

I undersökningen valde vi att formulera två olika syften. Initialt få en bild av hur idrottslärare definierar begreppet självkänsla och vilka undervisningsprocesser man använder sig av för främjandet av elevers självkänsla. Vi tog kontakt med en grupp idrottslärare som gav bifall till att besvara en öppen enkät utformad utifrån de två syftesformuleringar vi valt. Vi fann att medvetenheten hos respondenterna i definition av självkänsla var skiftande. En tendens i undersökningen var att vissa lärare definierade självförtroende istället för självkänsla eller definierade en syntes av begreppen självkänsla och självförtroende.

 Background and aim: Media development and digitalization has expanded the PR industry's working area. More participants are on the media market and it is becoming more and more difficult to define what PR really is and what the PR agencies/departments really do. Is PR marketing, information, event marketing or maybe propaganda? We believe that the complexity to define the term PR can lead to a loss of critical approach to the business, especially among young people. Has the PR industry managed to eliminate their negative image among students in upper secondary school and what do they associate with PR today? The aim of this essay is to examine what a selection of students associate with the term PR and if they are critical to the PR industry or not.Method/Material: The method is a quantitative survey.

In Sweden approximately ten percent of all children grows up in a family where at least one parent is having an alcohol related addiction. Since 1998 the development of group activities for children in this situation has been immense. The aim of group activities is to break the child's isolation and make them feel that they are not lonely in their experiences, give them knowledge about addiction and relive the pressure of guilt and responsibility.In a comparative study we examined studied how two different group activity models one with the conception of illness and one without, use the children's network to support the group process. The aim was also to find each models definition of the "normal family", since we understood the groupactivity as a part in the normalization process. We reached our aim through interviews with group leaders and by literature studies.

SammanfattningUppsatsen syfte är att undersöka begreppet kvartslivskris. Kvartslivskrisen är en definition på de känslor unga människor har kring sin identitet och sitt vuxenblivande. Vuxenblivandet för 80-talister idag beskrivs som en förlängd process med många olika val att ta ställning till vilket resulterar i oroskänslor kring den egna identiteten och framtiden. Kvartslivskrisen är inget allmängiltigt begrepp utan jag vill med denna undersökning se om de definitioner jag läst mig till kan sägas stämma över med informanternas upplevelser av verkligheten.För att ta reda på detta har jag genomfört fyra kvalitativa intervjuer med informanter födda under 1980-talet.De resultat som har framkommit ur analysen tyder på att många av de känslor som informanterna upplever stämmer överens med de känslor som karakteriserar kvartslivskrisen, jag har dock i den avslutande diskussionen uteslutit ordet kris och väljer att endast använda mig av ordet kvartsliv för att beskriva informanternas upplevelser kring sitt vuxenblivande. Resultaten stämmer också med den tidigare forskning jag inför uppsatsen har tagit del av, där ungdomars vuxenblivande analyseras i förhållande till samhällets alltmer individualistiska och globala tendenser. Nyckelord: Kvartslivskris, individualitet, vuxenblivande.
