Departing from Fred Dretske?s groundbreaking article, this essay explore the epistemic closure principle: the principle that states that knowledge is closed under known implication. It also explores the relationship to skepticism, various attempts to challenge and defend the principle, as well as developing a new perspective where the skeptical premise is seen as an a priori justified tautology that can be overriden by a posteriori experience. I argue that Dretske?s illuminating example makes it clear that there is an unescapable choice between either rejecting a skeptical premise ? however intuitive it may seem ? or inextricably having to admit a skeptical conclusion. .

The purpose of this study is to illustrate, analyze and discuss how a group of Swedish-born adolescents of non-Swedish descent identify themselves in relation to personal experiences of belonging and loyalty. I have chosen a qualitative research methodology in the form of one group interview and two individual interviews.The result of the study shows that the group of Swedish-born adolescents of non-Swedish descent identify themselvs with one or more nation-states in different ways depending on different concept metaphors that underlie the concept of nation in different national discourses..

The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the regulatory power, efficiency and impact of export control on Swedish arms export from the 1980s onwards, linked to the delegation of authority of permit license to the Inspectorate of Strategic Products in 1997. An increase in the administrative sector, based on a collective decision making process and established criteria and guidelines, aimed to strengthen the control of arms export to non-democratic and problematic states. In short, the aim of the study is to investigate and analyze whether there was a decrease in the arms export to problematic states or not. On one hand, it is reasonable to assume that the introduction of the new regulation entailed a more strict arms export policy. However, previous research has showed that regulations are sometimes not effective since incentives to breach these may be present.The study begins by examining the Swedish case and situation in terms of arms manufacturing and export, as well as the delegation of authority and legislation applied to the field over time.

The retailing industry has an extremely high density of brands. In order to differentiate its offer, both retailers and suppliers, are constantly forced to come up with new ways to launch their products. A collaborative strategy between two brands is called co-branding, which means that both the private label and the supplier's brand are displayed on the new product packaging. Several studies have shown that a co-branding strategy is successful, but many operators are still reluctant to use co-branding in fear of long-term losses due to potentially damaged business relations. The objective of this study is to explain how the product- and brand related value for customers, retailers and suppliers is affected by co-branding between private labels and national brands.

The aim of this paper is to expand the debate on globalization and its consequences from a theoretical perspective emphasizing social processes of exclusion and inclusion. I explore these social processes in dialogue with the Spanish social movement for the rights of irregular immigrants. The paper also aims to explore new forms of resistance in the context of globalization."The declinist thesis" argues that globalization has lead to a declining importance of the nation-state and the national citizenship as guarantees of rights. "The anti-declinist thesis" oppose to this picture arguing that rights still depend on national policies. I also discuss the functions of exclusion and inclusion inherited in the concepts of citizenship and nation-state.I outline the historical and political context of the movement and explore the ideas and organizational dimensions of the movement's "knowledge praxis".I conclude that national citizenship - in a broader sense as a description of the relationship between the individual and the state - seems to play a crucial role in the life situation and the possibilities of irregular migrants to organize and protest.

The aim of this thesis is to study the situation of minorities in Slovakia before and after the EU-membership and if EU has played a role in the situation. Also the criteria for becoming a member and other treaties regarding protection of minorities between European institutions and the accession/member states are studied. With the help of i.e. literature, relevant internet pages and yearly studies of EU, the conclusion has been made that Slovakia has made an immense change in the state?s legislation when it comes to minorities and their fundamental rights, but that changes need to be made in attitudes as well.

The swedish rule concerning the treatment of employee stock-options have changed and the new wording of the rule will be applicable for the first time in 2010. The previous wording of the rule stated that the employee shall be taxed for the stock-option when moving abroad, even if the option is not exercised. The Swedish Skatteverket and Regeringsrätten have found that this rule is in conflict with the free movement of persons within the European Union. The new wording of the rule states that the employee shall be taxed when the option is excercised, no matter where the employee is situated. In 1809 the citizens of Sweden where given the freedom to practice their Christian faith through the Swedish constitution of 1809, 16 §. This proclaimed that there should be religious freedom in Sweden, albeit restricted to Evangelical-Lutheran faith. Although after the law regarding dissenters was passed in 1860 by choosing another church than the Evangelical-Lutheran church you lost some civic rights, for example you could not become a public official. The freedom to choose religious affiliation was given through the Law of Religious Freedom in 1951. The purpose of this study is to evaluate in what way the concept of religious freedom has developed in Swedish law between 1809 and 1951.In the background I treat two historical events and one era, with focus upon religious freedom, which have in my opinion influenced the view of religious freedom in Sweden during the chosen period of 1809?1951.

Denna undersökning har med utgångspunkt ifrån två kända motivationsteorier prövat sambandetmellan aspiranters förväntningar och avbrott på Försvarsmaktens Aspirantutbildning. Detta hargenomförts genom att utifrån två motivationsteorier utveckla hypoteser som sedan har testats påstatistik över avhoppen ifrån Aspirantutbildningen 2010. Undersökningen finner tecken som pekar påatt det finns ett samband mellan förväntade fysiska krav på en utbildning och andelen frivilligaavbrott. Resultaten visar att en utbildning som förväntas vara fysiskt lätt har en större andel avhopppå egen begäran än en utbildning som förväntas vara fysiskt svår. Då jag utifrån egna erfarenhetermenar att den faktiska fysiska svårighetsnivån på samtliga inriktningar inom Aspirantutbildningen ärlikställda drar jag slutsatsen att aspiranternas förväntningar på den fysiska svårigheten är en viktigareorsak till frivilliga avhopp än den faktiska fysiska svårigheten.

Humans have always been fascinated by the thought of bringing non living objects to life. We wanted to explore the possibilities of trying to create an artefact that the audience would consider possess emotional states and have a life of its own. Syfte: Att få en djupare förståelse för vilka problem som finns med det arbetsplatsförlagda lärandet för byggelever på gymnasieskolans byggprogram. De frågeställningar som jag har arbetat för att få besvarat i min undersökning är: 1. Vilka problem finns med hur handledarskapet ser ut på byggföretagen?2. Vilka problem finns med matchningen mellan gymnasieskolans teoretiska undervisning jämfört med det som eleven får utföra?Metod: Studien är genomförd som en kvalitativ undersökning där data samlats in genom personliga intervjuer med chefer och handledare på byggföretag.Resultat: Det framgår i studien att handledarna oftast är outbildade inom handledarskapet och att detta med stor sannolikhet är relaterat till att handledarutbildning inte efterfrågas från skolans sida och att relevant information om handledarutbildningar inte tillhandahålls gentemot byggföretagen. Samtidigt finns ett problem i att byggarbetsplatserna har tidsbrist, vilket kan yttra sig i att även om man försöker arbeta med god pedagogik så finns inte tiden för detta alla gånger. Hur man ska göra för att överkomma detta framgår inte i studien.
