Today Holmen Skog finds and selects suitable thinning stands using data on upper height and basal area. These figures are often based on basic forest data that has been updated with the help of growth prediction models. The problem is that these figures are not always correct. The aim of this study was to investigate if a combination of data from a profiling laser and a digital camera for low elevation photography, can be used for collecting data on number of stems per ha, tree species mixture as well as basal area weighted mean height and upper height for stands. The possibility to use these data to assess the need for thinning cutting was also investigated.Laser data and aerial photographs were collected from a helicopter operating at an approximate height of 100 meters.

A logical cause of migration is of course immigrants which is a topic always creating discussions. When arriving in a new country a process of integration with the goal to adapt to the environment is started. This study will explore the need for integration and seeks to examine the connection between population composition and radical right opinions.To fulfill the aim, a multivariate regression analysis is done on aggregated level in Sweden with statistics concerning the year of 2010. The relation between ethnic composition and voters support for the Swedish radical right party Sverigedemokraterna is studied as well as integration as an explanatory intermediate factor operationalized through unemployment, financial assistance and trust.The results of the study indicate a positive connection between immigrants from EU/EFTA and the voter support for Sverigedemokraterna. A negative relation is identified between trust and the voter support for Sverigedemokraterna.

AbstractDuring the last five years there has been a considerable immigration from the Netherlands to Värmland in Sweden. INVA, Invest in Värmland, wanted to highlight this phenomenon and therefore contacted Karlstad University to make a survey about how extensive the immigration is and what consequences it brings for the business life and municipalities in Värmland. We were luckily chosen to perform this research and the main focus in this study has been the following questions:? Why do the Dutchmen choose to buy their house in Värmland?? What are the main reasons for leaving the Netherlands?? What consequences does the immigration cause for the business life in Värmland?? How do the Dutchmen experience the contact with Swedish authorities?To answer the questions we designed a questionnaire that was sent to 200 Dutch house purchasers. The ambition was to survey all the Dutch house purchasers in Värmland, but with the time constrains and the municipalities having problem to find complete data, we limited the survey to 200 households.

The purpose of this paper is to examine if there are any differences or similarities when it comes to teaching religion in a multicultural school versus teaching religion in a homogeneous school in Sweden. How do teachers describe religious education in schools and how do they justify their teaching strategies? What similarities or differences are there between teachers' approaches when teaching religion in homogeneous versus multicultural schools?The study is based on qualitative interviews which includes a total of four schools; two homogeneous and two multicultural. These schools have been selected with the help of the Migration Board's annual report from 2014 as well as from my own personal knowledge. One religious teacher from each of the schools was interviewed.The conclusion, among others, is that ethnic Swedish pupils do not have the same understanding of religion as students of different ethnicity.

This report describes a bachelor thesis work performed at the cloud storage company CloudMe in Linköping, Sweden. The storage service provided by CloudMe allows users to access their files seamlessly from multiple units at the same time. In the cloud there is storage provided for contacts, calendar and e-mail, which is data nowadays normally used by smart phones.Exchange ActiveSync is a protocol developed by Microsoft which, among much more, provides functionality to synchronize the previously described data. This protocol is supported by the smart phone developers and the ability to synchronize over the exchange protocol is implemented in products by default. Due to this fact it would be preferable to implement support for synchronization from CloudMe to phones over this protocol.

Detta examensarbete går ut på att skapa och undersöka en metod som istället genomför transformeringen i en databas. Denna transformering är metadatadriven, eftersom metadata är den information om data som krävs för att en transformering ska vara möjlig. Arbetet bygger därför på en metadatastudie som behandlar representation och struktur av metadata.

At Saab Aerospace in Linköping, components for measurement systems to the fighter aircraft JAS 39 Gripen are developed. In this activity you sometimes want to record the traffic transmitted on the data busses that connects different sys-tems. This traffic on the data busses is using the military standard MIL-STD-1553. This project has aimed to create a system for recording and sending 1553-data. The system is used on an ordinary personal computer, equipped with a recon- figurable I/O card that among others has a programmable logic circuit (FPGA).

Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka hur migrationserfarenheter hos moldovier som nu bor i Sverige har påverkat deras identitetsskapande. Genom intervjuer med ett levnadsberättelseperspektiv undersöks hur bilden av Europa innan migrationen påverkat beslutet att flytta, hur bilden av Moldavien har förändrats efter migrationen, samt i vilken mån det har betydelse för deras identitet. Studien visar att idéer om språk och historia får stor betydelse vid stora samhällsomvandlingar och kopplas till den egna identiteten. Informanterna omgavs i Moldavien av migrationsberättelser, vilka skapade en migrationslängtan. Moldavien pratades om som något annat och sämre än ?Europa? och de själva konstruerades som icke-européer.

This thesis investigate how energy efficient measures has spread throughout the data centers in Sweden. These questions are put up against a theoretical use of such concepts such as green IT, technological evolution, large technical systems and knowledge dissemination. These theories are used to answer the questions that are encountered during the study, such as how green IT is approached, how big of a role environmental thinking has had in the evolvement of these new technologies. The study has been conducted in a longitudinal manner, it is an observation of the phenomenon that is data centers over a longer period of time. 23 non structured interviews spanning over 27.5 hours of recorded material have been conducted alongside a study of archived material.

Simuleringar används i många sammanhang för att underlätta förståelsen för händelser och förlopp som annars kan vara svåra att överblicka. Ofta är det mycket data som ska förmedlas till användaren.I de fall visuella representationer av simuleringen ska visas i realtid måste data sållas bort så att en interaktiv bildfrekvens uppnås samtidigt som betydelsefull information inte får försvinna.Vid Totalförsvarets forskningsinstitut, FOI, används simulering och visualisering som ett verktyg för att studera de komplexa duellsituationerna mellan medel och motmedel (telekrigduellen). Ett verktyg har i detta arbete tagits fram för att kunna använda sig av de stora geografiska områden som behövs i simuleringarna.Resultatet av arbetet är en applikation som utifrån geografisk kartdata skapar ett 3D-landskap som lämpar sig för realtidssimulering..

During the 1960s and 1970s an increased interest in Native Americans can be seen in Sweden, e.g. through the establishment of organizations such as the Indian Club of Sweden. The aim of this thesis is to study the portrayal of Native Americans and its role through Albin Widén, a Swedish author, ethnologist and member of the Indian Club, and his non-fictional works on the Swedish migration to America, Swedish-America and Swedish contacts with Native Americans. The study is divided into four parts. The first part looks at the portrayal of the Native Americans in Widén?s writings, in comparison with Euro-Americans? and Europeans? traditional stereotypic images of a good and a bad Indian.

Arbetet beskriver ett systemutvecklingsarbete som innehåller kravfångst, analys och design av en data warehouse/business intelligencelösning till Svenska bordtennisförbundet. Svenska bordtennisförbundet/SBTF/ behöver utöka sitt beslutsunderlag för att kunna fatta strategiska beslut. SBTF behöver även få bättre kontroll på sin verksamhet för att kunna sätta, utvärdera och följa upp mål. SBTF önskar lösa detta genom att skapa ett data warehouse till vilket data från de olika systemen laddas för att därefter kunna presenteras för användarna genom business intelligence. I kravspecifikationen framkom att klubbarnas medlemsregister, alla tävlingsspelare, all träningsstatistik och de matcher som spelats i Sverige sedan 2011 var det dataunderlag som skulle ingå i ett data warehouse.
