Under 2011 pågick diskussioner kring bildämnet i och med att Sverige antog nya läroplaner i grundskolan och gymnasiet. Röster hördes som menade att bild är mer av ett hobbyämne samtidigt som andra visade på ämnets värde och hur viktigt det är med visuell kompetens i dagen samhälle. År 2003 gjordes en nationell utvärdering av bildämnet som visade att de flesta elever tycker att bild är roligt men inte gav dem kunskaper som var nyttiga för kommande yrke. Denna utvärdering visade också att i bildämnet arbetade elever främst med hantverksmässig metoder trots att bildtolkning och analys samt digital bild borde ha plats i undervisningen. Det har nu gått nästan 10 år sedan denna utvärdering gjordes och en ny kursplan har införts där digitalt skapande och analys är tydligare inskrivet.

It?s a survey that is made in Skellefteå Kommun by interviewing four professional workers, two at the Social Services and two at the Migration Board. The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze youth community service in the Kalmar municipality. Our focus was on juvenile offenders and predecessor of public authorities. The juvenile offenders in our study have completed youth community service. A qualitative study was undertaken which include seven interviews.
