Det här examensarbetet är en fallstudie som beskriverstadsutvecklingen i staden Dubai i Förenade arabemiraten.Examensarbetet syftar till att svara på frågornaHur har Dubai stad utvecklats från och med oljansupptäckt fram till idag? och Hur ser den övergripandeplaneringen ut för Dubais framtida stadsutveckling?METOD;Vår fallstudie är en sammanvävd redogörelse av enlitteraturstudie och egna upplevelser från en studieresai Förenade arabemiraten.Litteraturstudien bestod av tre huvuddelar. I den förstadelen var syftet att få grundläggande fakta och vi lästebland annat guideböcker och såg dokumentärer omDubai. I litteraturstudiens andra del fokuserade vi påvad som fanns vetenskapligt publicerat om Dubaisstadsutveckling fram till idag. I den tredje delen söktevi information om Dubais framtida stadsutveckling,främst dokument framtagna av Dubais myndigheter.I studieresan besökte vi Dubai i tolv dagar.

ABSTRACT There is present a lot of focus on animal welfare issues during transport and the related loading and unloading of animals. This thesis is a field study investigating the present situation of beef and dairy farms in Sweden. The predominant reasons stressing cattle when transported to abattoirs are when they are loaded and unloaded on the trucks. The aim of this thesis is to improve the handling and the loading facilities to facilitate the handling and reduce the stress for the animals as well as the personnel. The field study was done by travelling together with the transports from the farm to the abattoir in Uppsala. Three trucks where used and about 60 farms were visited January to March 2003.

The aim with this thesis was to investigate what characterises an English Arts and Crafts garden how they could be modernised in Sweden. My research was limited to 20 weeks of full-time writing and worth 30 ECTS. Through literature studies, interviews and site visits I could analyse my findings which resulted in a concrete garden design project. The Arts and Crafts was a movement that started in England during the 1880?s and evolved as a reaction towards the industrialisation. The influence came from the writings and practices of John Ruskin (1819-1900) and William Morris (1834-1896) who advocated the importance of craftsmanship. The Arts and Crafts movement also became a ?recipe for life? and was associated with a healthy and morally pure way of living.
