The purpose of my essay is to study the current debate on public library as a meeting place in the Swedish daily press. I have examined how the meeting function is used and how it is perceived and what it might mean to the public library. Through a selection process, I chose 18 relevant newspaper articles from the year 2006 to 2012. By implementing a content analysis, three themes were distinguished; ?the meeting place as a place to reside on?, ?the meeting place as an inclusion? and ?the meeting place as a culture and activity house? I have used Andersson, Scot-Hansen and Rabers theoretical models of the library's roles for my analysis.

This study highlights the stereotypical depictions of journalists in film using a narrative analysis of four major Hollywood productions, starting with All the President?s Men from 1976 through The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo from 2011. Its purpose is to highlight traits given to journalists in the movies and re-occuring themes in the portrayal of the media and the journalistic occupation. Differences and commonalities between the films are concluded in a discussion of ethics, personalities and the media?s self image.

This thesis explores how public art is received by the general public in Borås, Sweden. As a point of departure it was assumed that a study of the local papers would offer an accurate insight in to the debate of public art. Hence, press clippings were chosen as primary source material together with the works of art. The questions addressed in the study are: what is written in the local daily press about public art? Who writes in or makes statements to the local dailies about public art? Textual analysis is the predominant method employed while hermeneutics is the underlying theory.

This thesis investigates all aspects of quality and evaluation issues concerning collections of Internet links in public libraries today and in the future. We have studied central theories concerning quality in general as well as quality aspects regarding the Internet and Internet links. In addition to this we have made three case-studies involving the development of collections of Internet links in public libraries of different sizes. The case-studies were made as interviews with professionals responsible for selection, quality assurance and evaluation of electronic information for inclusion in the libraries collections of Internet links. In addition to this we made an e-mail interview with a librarian responsible for one of the most advanced collections of Internet links among Swedish´ public libraries.

Bakgrund. Fysisk aktivitet på recept- FaR® kan förskrivas av distriktssköterskan, kunskapen om hur metoden används är dock begränsad. Forskning visar att fysisk aktivitet kan både främja hälsa, förebygga och behandla fysiska som psykiska sjukdomstillstånd samt bromsa åldrandet. Trots det väljer många att vara fysiskt inaktiva och idag är fysisk inaktivitet en av de ledande riskfaktorerna till dödligheten i världen, och är en hög riskfaktor vid hjärt-kärlsjukdomar, högt blodtryck, höga blodfetter, cancer och diabetes. Vi vet att genom att använda metoden FaR® kan den fysiska aktiviteten ökas, trots det visar forskning på att FaR® är en underutnyttjad metod.

The aim of this study is to examine the interaction between a group of multilingual, twelve-year-old children, and three libraries. The children live in a suburb of a larger city. The three libraries are their school-library, the library in their suburb and the main library in the city. We have examined if and how the children use the libraries, what the libraries mean to them in their daily life and what their possibilities are when it comes to participate in and influence activities and collections at the libraries. We have pursued qualitative interviews with sixteen children in grade six and three librarians, working with multilingual children at the three libraries.

The purpose of this examination was to make a qualitative study focusing on children's influence from a gender perspective. The study is based on interviews. We wanted to investigate teachers' perception of children's influence in the preschool.Earlier research on children´s influence and gender has also helped us in the conclusion of this examination.The survey consists of ten interviews with teachers of varied work experience in the preschool. We also chose to interview teachers in other positions, since this is often the case in preschools today. From the result we can see that there are different levels of skill and awareness regarding the topic of children's influence from a gender perspective.

In 1998 years' curriculum for the preschool stands it those children under school age will get possibility that? communicate with the aid of differently expression shapes? and an example that is mentioned in the governing document is song and musical.  The purpose with this study is to examine how the song and the music are used from a language development perspective in three different preschools' activities. In the essay, I review to earlier research around the music?s' and the song's possibilities for the child's linguistic development. In the essay, it is discussed about some important factors that obstruct music situations in the preschool that the curriculum for the preschool (Lpfö98) not specific describes what expression shapes as song and music will contain and that deficiency on musical education at pedagogues.  The method for the study was to collect empirical materials through observations on three different preschools.

The purpose for this study is to compare two major Swedish daily newspapers ?Dagens Nyheter? and ?Svenska Dagbladet? and their statements regarding the electors of Sweden Democrats attitude regarding immigrants and immigration policy during the autumn of 2013. The scope was to analyze medias interpretation with the electors of the Sweden Democrats statements and opinions regarding their immigration policy. I have used three different ques­tions to fulfill my purpose; the first one is to describe how media chooses to present the elec­tors of Sweden Democrats opinions regarding immigrants. The second question is to reflect and pre­sent the electors own opinions on immigrants and their immigration policies.

Today's young people increasingly tend to sit at home and relax, instead of being out and meet friends. This is based on my observations from my experience as a teacher. They are more and more in front of their computers and living their lives through their various Internet sites. There I was, stuck on how they behave in their environment, both private and public but also to their friends and their families versus their "internetlife". AbstractThe purpose of this essay was to determent if the authors? idea to replace a personal trainer with a training program, which is provided by software, is viable and if there is a market for such a product. The method that was used, included eight people who enrolled in a training program which were designed by the authors in Microsoft excel. The programs were based on principals of periodization, and included the phases: anatomic adaptation, hypertrophy, maximum strength and muscle definition. The training program was personal and based on individual goal setting.

Destination marketing organisations (DMO) är ett fenomen som går att studera utifrån flera aspekter. Vi valde att utgå från DMO positionering och distribution av turismprodukter vilket skapade frågeställningen: Hur förmedlas Norge som en nationell destination? Organisationen är komplex, och detta arbetets syfte är därför att få en ökad förståelse för DMOs arbete utifrån en egenskapad modell, DMOs framställningsprocess av en destination. En deduktiv ansats har används i studien, där teorierna DMO, platsmarkandsföring, kommersialisering samt destination image har behandlats. Dessa teorier har sedan applicerats på ett verkligt fenomen, som i detta fall har varit Norges DMO, Innovasjon Norge. Arbetets empiriska material har samlats in från en mail intervju med Andreas Ørjasæter Solhaug på Innovasjon Norge.

Among researchers it has been established since decades that humans and animals have an internal biological clock that controls certain physiological mechanisms. One example regarding humans is the impairment of lung function during the night, causing the phenomenon ?nocturnal asthma? among asthmatics. Only a few studies concerning respiratory circadian rhythm in horses have been done previously and they showed a daily variation in horses with a chronic or an acute respiratory disease. The technique used in those studies was the conventional technique, which is invasive and less sensitive than the technique used in this study.

Detta arbete skrevs på Kalix kommun. Arbetet gick ut på att göra en Masterplan för kommunen. Arbetet gick ut på att inventera och presentera befintliga och planerade markområden för olika typer av etableringsmöjligheter för Kalix näringsliv och utomstående aktörer. En viktig del i arbetet var att samla all nödvändig information vad gäller etableringar, tillgänglig mark, nödvändig infrastruktur samt tomt- och lokalpriser i samma dokument. Att ha så mycket fakta som möjligt i samma dokument underlättar både för kommunen och för näringslivet.

SammandragSyftet med mitt arbete är att jämföra hur bokstavsinlärning kan se ut i en Montessori förskoleklass, Reggio Emilia-inspirerad förskoleklass samt en årskurs etta i en kommunal skola. Jag vill ta reda på om det finns tydliga likheter/skillnader mellan de olika verksamheterna och hur det påverkar barnets fortsatta läs- och skrivinlärning. Jag har utfört 15-minuters observationer i de tre olika verksamheterna för att själv vara med och uppleva miljön samt se hur olika inlärningstillfällena kan se ut. För att komplettera observationerna skickade jag även ett mail med intervjufrågor till de tre lärarna/förskollärarna som de svarade på och sedan skickade tillbaka till mig. Genom detta fick jag bland annat svar på varför de jobbar som de gör, vilket synsätt som låg till grunden för undervisningen samt hur de tror att barn lär sig bokstäver bäst. Mitt resultat visar att lärarna/förskollärarna jobbar på olika sätt med bokstavsinlärning.
