Överföring av radiocesium till potatis vid olika nedfallstidpunkter :
Agricultural land could be polluted by radioactive substances after a fallout. We would then need information about the level of contamination to decide whether the Crops could be utilized as food under these circumstances. In an experiment carried out during the 1990ies the retention of 134Cs in potato haulm and the transfer to the tubers were studied. The experiment was carried out during three consecutive years. The plants were cultivated in pots under field conditions and the artificial deposition was sprayed directly onto the potato haulm at different times during the growing season.
Jordbruksdränering, kostnader och genomförande :
Underdrainage is a costly investment but often a necessity to maintain rationalized plant cultivation, one can also see underdrainage as insurance to successful plant cultivation. Late ripening Crops, low yield and difficult tillage cultivation are examples on an insufficient drainage. (Kvarnemo 1983) A drained field rise in land price and the scheme of the tiled drains is seen as a value item.
The interest for underdrainage among the farmers follows with shifting economic situations within agriculture and has for long time been low.
A big part of the Swedish tiled drainage systems is since 1930 and ahead. Many of these tiled drainage systems need to be replaced or complemented. The life length of one tiled drainage system varies with maintenance but can still remain in good function after 75 years with correct management.
Svenskproducerat proteinfoder till slaktsvin
Soybean meal from South America is the most common protein feed used for animal production in Sweden. Production of soybean has negative effects on the environment and the transports from South America to Sweden causes considerable CO2 emissions. Therefore it is a growing interest in locally produced protein feed in Sweden. Protein feeds that are possible to grow in Sweden are rapeseed, peas, faba beans and lupins. Those are adapted to the Nordic climate and are perfect to grow in cereal rotations.
Klövviltets nyttjande av foderraps på viltåker och betespåverkan på angränsande skog
Today we have more game species than ever before in our landscape, both regarding number of species and number of individuals. The increasing number of wild species is an increase in game recourse for the countryside. The increase of game species, however, has negative effects on forests and agriculture land. The negative effects for forestry are damages on economic important trees, due to losses in production and quality. However there are ways to decrease the damage on valuable and important trees.
Lantbruk i framtiden : ett praktikfall
The economic prerequisite to many farmers in Sweden after the EU membership and the
new agriculture policy has generated large demands on the farm management. Until year
2004 you got a grant based on what you had produced and not on consumer demand. In
2005 a new economic aid (Mid Term Revue) was introduced and the conditions has
changed again. Due to this I have chosen to do a cost-benefit analysis on a case, to
investigate if the present production is sustainable in the future.
My conclusion is that the profitability is acceptable even if the farm has a high debt. But
to make the production more profitable the products produced should be refined as much
as possible at the farm, to get maximum economic return.
Årlig gödsling med NPK bäst för gröda, miljö och ekonomi
Yesterdays common fertilizing strategy was to apply phosphor (P) and potassium (K) in thefall a few times in the crop rotation. In the spring only nitrogen (N) was applied. Recent trialsand studies has shown that this strategy, N+P/PK, is ineffective compared with the systemwhere NPK is spread every year in the spring. The strategy with annual NPK-fertilizer in thespring has proven to be better for the crop, the environment and the farmers economy. In the NPK-system the crop responds with higher yields and better quality, especially in thespring cereals. This is mainly because of an interaction between the different nutrients in thefertilizer.
Landsbygd i förändring : en jämförelse mellan bouppteckningar från1840-talet och sekelskiftet 1900 på Gotlands södra landsbygd
During the beginning of the 19th century Sweden is effected by the Napoleonic Wars and in the aftermath of the war Sweden looses Finland to Russia. This loss leads to the dismissal of King Gustav IV Adolf and the introduction of the Bernadotte dynasty on the Swedish throne. Over the century the industrialization plays a big part in the progress of Sweden. The growth of the industries leads to developments in the areas of agriculture. With this essay I would like to examine if the people on the countryside of Gotland keep the same pace as the people on the mainland in their introduction of new things.
Klimatanpassning och lantbruket i Värmland : Klimatförändringarnas upplevda effekter på lantbruket och olika aktörers åsikter om klimatanpassning
Climate change is a global and slow process that affects humans all over the world. Climate adaption within agriculture is important to reduce the risks that agricultures are exposed to because of climate change. Through climate adaption you can improve the positive effects and take advantage of them optimally. How the climate change affects agricultures varies depending on regions and societies. The purposes of the study are to examine how different actors experience the impacts of climate change on the agriculture in Värmland.
Fallstudie på växtodlingsgård :
This report will point out the income for a scania plant production farm, this has been
estimated through a case study. The outcome of this report will later be used to
calculate a reasonable leasehold charge.
This case study is solitary based upon this particular studied farm, at this very point,
and can therefore not be used as a general guide. The reason why this particular scania
plant production farm has been selected, is because the author is born and raised at the
farm and has the intention to run the farm in the future.
The chosen farm for this report is based in the southwest of scania and cover 300
hectare of plant production. The crop rotation consists of autumn wheat, sugar beats,
spring wheat, spring barely, winter rape and fallow. The farm owns all machinery
required.
Dikesavståndets inverkan på såtid och skörd
All arable land in Sweden need a proper drainage for an effectively agriculture to take place. Of all arable land in Sweden, about 50% is naturally drained and 50% need artificial drainge. More than half of the tile drained area is in need of new drainage or renewed drainage. A good drainage improves farming and crop growth and increases the opportunity to achieve a high and safe harvest level. Future climate change and agriculture size rationalization will increase the need for good drainage.
In this paper, two trials with three drainage distances, performed at Lanna experimental station, were analyzed using a mixed linear model.
Torkning av vallfrö :
In Sweden, grass is the single largest crop grown. Nearly 1 000 000 Ha grows on the
fields, this is primarily used as feed for livestock. To get a good seed, you need to
handle the crop carefully from planting to delivery. The part that I have been
interested in, is how to dry the harvested seed with out destroying the growth in the
small seed. This is very easily done if you aren?t careful during the drying period.
Hylasmotivet hos Apollonios Rhodios och Theokritos
An increasing global population and a worldwide growing urbanization has raised the questionabout the future food security in cities all over the world. Peak-oil limits the access to cheap fossilfuels which threatens the global food-supply chain. This has resulted in a larger awareness anddiscussion related to urban agriculture. Growing Crops and keeping animals within the city-borderscould be one way of creating a more robust and sustainable food supply for city dwellers. However,to enable an expansion of the urban agriculture many theorists argue that policies and institutionalstructures that supports and promotes city farming have to be developed.
Produktionsvåtmarker mot övergödning
In ambition to produce more and better harvests, artificial fertilizers are used to produce a better growth of Crops in the agriculture landscape. This contributes to leakage of nutrients. Our forests also exhibit a leakage of nutrients. Air pollution contributes to more nutrients. High precipitation with high water flows as a consequence seems currently to occur more frequently in the county of Halland.
Safe retrieval of nutrients to improve food security
Safe retrieval of nutrients from human excreta to fertilize Crops in order to gain adequate yields will increase food security and sustainability in agriculture areas with nutrient-poor fields. Safe and nutritious food will meet the dietary needs of the individual which promotes public health and the ability of an active life. Human excreta should be considered as a resource instead of being assumed as waste. Human faeces and urine is excellent fertilizers which may close the nutrient loop if utilized properly. However, sanitation of the excreta is required to prevent disease transmission by reducing the content of gastrointestinal pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and parasites.
The objective of this study was to in small scale evaluate the sanitation in a combined liquid compost and urea treatment by monitor the inactivation of bacteria and viruses at the combination three start temperatures, 45, 40 and 35 °C, and three additions of urea, 0.5, 0.75 and 1 % and reference, 0 % urea addition.
