Prisons are for many an unknown world, and few know about the prison culture which includes unwritten rules, power structures, interactions and relationships between inmates and correctional employees.While many think that Swedish prisons are too comfortable,inmates are facing extreme stress due to surveillance and detention, by depriving inmates their possibility to shape their own lives. When the inmates is deprived of control over their own life?s the penal system have great power to shape and to influence the inmates.The purpose of this paper is to investigate prisoners' experiences of treatment and exercise of power in prisons. Starting point is to examine what are the kinds of relationships between prison officers and inmates from a power perspective, if there is any difference between the closed and open prisons and how the inmates affected by the structures that exist.Based on my overall purpose, and with my informant´s stories which revealed a number of similar points, four main headings were developed; Mass media and society´s view, and unknown world, interaction between inmates and prison officers and consequences.Prison officers with the role as a contact persons as well and other staff which work close to the inmates play a significant role by supporting through motivational interviewing and can help the inmates to gain insight about their life situation and actions. My informant?s underlined that a good contact person can either help or discourage.Inmates who contributed with their experiences express that there is a big difference between open-and closed prisons.

The Swedish censorship is an institution run by the Swedish government since 1911 and has cutting films to protect the citizens from unnecessary violence. Their main purpose doesn't work well with the law of copyright in literary and artistic works, as they break this law while cutting movies. They therefore destroy the authors work by doing this, and in this thesis I will point out how they have destroyed the purpose of two scenes in the film Hellraiser and by that, more or less, altered how the audience may look upon two of the characters in the film.  The results points to the unnecessary way of physically cutting films to protect the audience, but also how they choose to work and what preferences they used in their line of work..

I denna studie undersöks Uppsala universitets kommunikationsstrategier från mitten av 2000-talet till och med 2010. Kommunikationsstrategierna undersöks utifrån ett nyinstitutionellt perspektiv, för att studera hur institutionellt tryck som marknadisering kommit att påverka dessa. Marknadiseringsprocessen undersöks i sin tur utifrån den institutionella omgivningen i form av politiska initiativ, för att studera den institutionaliserade processen. Utifrån nyinstitutionell teori om organisationers tendenser till formaliserade strukturer, jämförs vad som kommit till uttryck i kommunikationsstrategiska dokument med hur det externa kommunikationsarbetet i praktiken har utvecklats under denna tidsperiod..

For my advanced degree in archival science, I have organized and catalogued the Blomqvist family archive.  The Blomqvist family archive consists of records from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 21th century. The records in the archive depict and describe different aspect of the Blomqvist familys life and work. Specific problems and theoretical questions that appeared during the cataloguing of the Blomqvist archive were related to the great presence of objects and photographs in the archive. A discussion concerning the role of objects in archives and within archive institution took place. The problem with cataloguing photographs as well as the problem of searching for photographs in archives, were also discussed.       .

Syftet i studien är att belysa möjligheter och hinder för struktur och organisation i förskolans dagliga verksamhet, både på verksamhetsnivå, ledningsnivå och politisk nivå. Den teoretiska utgångspunkten finns i studier som behandlar förskolan som en institution, med egen organisation, struktur och ledning. Ansatsen i studien är etnografisk och narrativ analys används. Syftet med denna studie har varit att undersöka hur personalens konflikthantering ser ut på två behandlingsinstitutioner för ungdomar i Västra Götalands län. Vi har utgått från följande frågeställningar:Hur hanterar personalen konflikter på institutionerna?Hur upplever ungdomarna på institutionerna personalens konflikthantering?Hur upplever ungdomar och personal de konflikter som uppstår på institutionerna?Studien belyser vilka erfarenheter personal och ungdomar har kring konflikthantering och konflikter som uppstår vid institutionerna. Undersökningen bygger på åtta stycken kvalitativa intervjuer, fyra stycken med personal och fyra stycken med ungdomar. För att tolka det insamlade materialet har detta analyserats med hjälp av inlärningsteori.

Syftet med studien var att öka förståelsen av argumentationen kring könsdifferentierad respektive könsblandad vård, samt att få ökad förståelse av vad argumenten grundas i och vad som kommer till uttryck i SiS:s (Statens institutionsstyrelse) publikationer. Studien genomfördes som en innehållsanalys, av ett urval av SiS:s publikationer. En central teoretisk anknytning i studien är poststrukturalism. Det kunde konstateras att det finns en övervägande stor del argument som motiverar enkönade avdelningar samt få argument som talar för könsblandade avdelningar. Det fanns även yttrande och resonemang som tyder på ett utpräglat tänkande om heteronormativitet, manlig normativitet och könsstereotypa tankegångar..

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur personal vid en låsbar SiS-institution beskriver sin syn på hur en optimal behandlingsinstution behöver utformas för att uppnå de bästa behandlingsförutsättningarna. Undersökningen har skett på en av statens institutionsstyrelse´s (SiS) ungdomshem i Sverige för ungdomar 14-20 år. De tre frågeställningar som studien redogör för är:Hur beskriver personalen att institutioner behöver organiseras för att uppnå de bästa behandlingsförutsättningarna?Hur beskriver personalen att behandlingsarbetet behöver formas för att uppnå bestående beteendeförändring?Hur beskriver personalen att en optimal ungdomsgrupp behöver formas utifrån den unges behandlingstid och behandlingsinnehåll?Kunskapsläget innehåller såväl den forskning som finns på området men också den teori som utvecklats utifrån den forskning som producerats. I kunskapsläget finns tre centrala begrepp presenterade, organisation, bestående beteendeförändring och ungdomsgrupp, vilka är relevanta för såväl syftet som frågeställningarna.Utifrån studiens syfte valdes en kvalitativ forskningsansats för att förstå varje intervjupersons livsvärld och framställa mening sett från dennes perspektiv och erfarenheter.

This study looks at how probation, client experiences, and criminal policy decisions affect recidivism in Sweden. Gaining a thorough grasp of how social, organizational, and political issues interact and impact the chances of rehabilitation and reintegration is the goal. Three research questions are addressed in the study: First, what are the causes of recidivism? Second, how is probation perceived by staff and clients in terms of control and support? Thirdly, what effects do political decisions have on probation services' operations and clients' chances for recovery?? A qualitative study was conducted with semi-structured interviews with twelve respondents, eight probation clients, three probation officers and one parliamentary politician. There were six themes that discussed the issue of recidivism from different perspectives, the collected data was analyzed through thematic content analysis.
