The scope of this master thesis is the scientific publishing at Uppsala University's Faculty of Arts. The aim of the thesis is to investigate publication patterns and publishing strategies. To investigate how the publication patterns of the faculty is structured and what priorities and considerations the researchers have regarding scientific publishing. Furthermore, the aim is to compare these publishing strategies and publication patterns to incentives and selection principles of the bibliometric indicators in the performance based research funding systems on the national and local scale.The thesis is based on the theories of disciplinary differences developed by Richard Whitley and Tony Becher and Paul R. Trowler. These theories suggest a framework based on organizational and sociological perspectives, that offers ways to explain differences in publication patterns between different scientific fields.The study is based on two empirical studies of the faculty.

Introduction: Men who have sex with men (MSM) is a vulnerable group with regard to HIVbecause of biological factors, lifestyle, discrimination and, in some parts of the world,criminalization. From a public health perspective it is important to include MSM in order to securea high-quality HIV prevention but also to safeguard human rights (HR) for this group. However, itis only recently that the Swedish development cooperation agencies have begun to integrate MSMin HIV prevention. Objective: To examine how employees of Swedish institutions responsible fordevelopment cooperation manage the vulnerable group MSM when providing support for HIVprevention programs and human rights programs. Topics relate to challenges and strategies tointegrate MSM in HIV prevention, which achievements have been obtained, and how to practicallydeal with the criminalization of the group.

The purpose of this litterature review is to illustrate the nursing care to patient with chronic pain. As a theoretic frame for this study we choose Aron Antonowsky. The results of this study are based on 8 scientific articles. The findings are presented in main categories and ideas. The findings show that chronic pain is a multidimensional phenomenon that influences peoples quality of life in a physical, psychological as well as social way.

Researchers, planners, and government agencies agree that road safety for children must be a priority and in particular that children should have a safe and secure way to travel to and from school regardless of age or the distance travelled. In Sweden, child traffic safety is a key part of the country?s Nollvision, a long-term traffic policy goal of ?no deaths or serious injuries?. Unfortunately, many countries have recorded increases in child traffic accidents as the percentage of parents who drive their children to school and thus congestion around schools has increased. Common strategies include traffic safety education for children, the redesign and improvement of traffic infrastructure, bicycle training, and carpooling.This thesis assesses the traffic problem around Ludvigsberg School in the district Valbo in Gävle, Sweden.

Syfte: Att beskriva konsekvenser som uppstår i vardagen för personer med stroke. Metod: En litteraturstudie valdes som design för att sammanställa publicerade kvantitativa och kvalitativa forskningsstudier. Dessa studier söktes i databaserna Cinahl, Amed och Medline med sökorden stroke, consequence, coping, adapting, everyday life och daily life. Sökorden kombinerades sedan på olika vis för att få fram de mest relevanta artiklarna, d v s de som svarade på syftet och frågeställningarna. Resultat: Av artiklarna framkom att olika konsekvenser uppstod i samband med aktivitet och delaktighet, i olika omgivningar och i samband med personliga faktorer.

Uppsatsens huvudsyfte är att öka kunskapen kring hur anhöriga till äldre upplever vårdplaneringsprocessen, det vill säga vårdplaneringsmötet och den närmsta tiden efteråt. Uppsatsens frågeställningar är:? Hur upplever anhöriga kontakten med de professionella inom vård och omsorg, på vårdplaneringsmötet, innan och efter?? Hur tänker anhöriga kring de insatser som den äldre beviljades?? Upplever anhöriga delaktighet, begriplighet, hanterbarhet, meningsfullhet och självbestämmande i anslutning till vårdplaneringen?? Hur ser de anhörigas roll ut i vårdplaneringsprocessen?Studien baseras på kvalitativa halvstrukturerade intervjuer med anhöriga till äldre som genomgått en samordnad vårdplanering. Analysen, med hermeneutisk ansats, har skett utifrån de teoretiska perspektiven KASAM, coping och systemteori, samt utifrån tidigare forskning. Resultatet av studien ger en bild av att känslan av sammanhang är avgörande för hur anhöriga upplever vårdplaneringsprocessen. Det framkommer att delaktighet är en nyckel till hög KASAM.

The purpose of this empirical study was to investigate if stress exists among nurses, and if it exists how do they experience it and how do they cope whit it. The nurses also got to define the word stress. Karasek and Theorells demandcontrollmodell were used as a theoretical framework. The result of the study answers our research questions and gives us a good insight how the nurses experience stress and how they cope with it. The result shows that 56 of 60 nurses indicated that they experience medium to high level of stress a couple of days a week or more often and that it affects their work.

Idag upplever nästan av alla kvinnor och män i Sverige sitt arbete som psykiskt påfrestande enligt Arbetsmiljöverkets undersökning om den svenska arbetsmiljön, främst individer i tjänstemannasektorn. Denna kvalitativa studie avser att undersöka juristers psykosociala arbetsmiljö i relation till krav, kontroll och stöd, för att slutligen se om det finns könsskillnader i hur arbetsreateradstress upplevs och hanteras. För att nå förståelse för individens subjektiva upplevelse av sin psykosociala arbetsmiljö så används en fenomenologisk ansats där empirin samlades in genom teoretiskt öppna intervjuer. Informanterna bestod av åtta jurister, fyra kvinnor och fyra män, verksamma i både privat och offentlig sektor. Intervjuerna analyserades deduktivt utifrån teorin Krav-kontroll-stödmodellen och modellen coping, men även induktivt för att få en fullständig förståelse.

In the future the Swedish pension system will face major problems. With an increasing aging population combined with a decreasing share of working population the financing of the pension system is becoming a bigger problem than previously predicted. This means the individual himself will have a bigger responsibility to invest money for their future retirement. It has been shown that a large proportion of the people who invests for their future pension have neither the interest nor the time to actively invest their pension capital. To make it easier for those who invest for their retirement, some Swedish banks have created so-called generation funds.

Aim: The aim of this study was to describe the nurse?s work at an emergency department trough a perspective of caring.Method: A literature review has been made of twelve studies published between the years of 2002 ? 2012. The focus of all the studies was on Swedish emergency departments.  Results: The researchers found four themes that they choose to use as a way of describing the nurses work in the emergency room as detailed as possible. These themes were: ?The emergency room?, ?the nurse?s job assignments at an emergency department?, ?the patient?s experiences? and ?lifeworld and communication?.

The cellular market is today suffering from great customer dissatisfaction. Simultaneously, the services offered by the different cellular providers are very homogenous, causing strict competition where various price strategies have been the main mean of battle. From a business perspective, implementing pricing strategies, to keep up with increased network investments, is a short term solution.In a market characterized by lacking customer satisfaction and harsh competition, research has shown the importance of highlighting customer relations in marketing. This type of marketing, which one could refer to as relationship marketing, is considered an efficient, economic, and strategic method of showing the importance of customer loyalty. To get insight in the relationship between the customers and the cellular providers, as well as to show the importance of relationship marketing, this study has used qualitative interviews to find what develops strong customer loyalty.The results showed that increased customer loyalty is achieved when an emotional bond is created.

This report is a literature review that aims to describe marketing contexts for mango production in Kenya. The institutional conditions in the country are not well developed for marketing purposes, which causes many difficulties and problems for the society. In Kenya most mango producers are poor small-scale farmers with limited resources. Mango is a perishable commodity and to keep its value and quality it is essential to have the opportunity to sell the mangos in the right time. Inefficient and undeveloped infrastructure and marketing systems hinders the mangos to reach the market in time though, which causes large losses of produce.The Kenyan mango production has increased during the last decade but due to market losses for the producer, the small-scale farmers? profits have not improved.

Commercial strategies are becoming more common in an increasing number of sports - Swedish golf is no exception. Previous research shows that new opportunities for non-profit organizations, to assign parts of their operations to a limited company, do not have any economic importance. The supplementary question arises why more golf clubs nonetheless choose to corporatize its activities? Is the purpose of commercial strategies generally linked to business- or sport-related success? This paper, containing two studies, aims to create an understanding of the underlying drivers of commercialization, and furthermore to quantitatively demonstrate how commercialization is reflected within Swedish golf in terms of strategy and marketing. Swedish golf clubs were categorized as more or less commercial, and examined based on business-related variables such as communications, brand awareness and price discrimination, as well as sports-related variables as success factors and success indicators.

Bakgrund: Tonåringar med kronisk hjärtsjukdom måste lära sig ta ansvar för sin hälsa och sin egenvård, inför övergången till vuxensjukvården. För att klara detta krävs att tonåringen får kunskap om och förståelse för sin sjukdom och vad den medför. Sjukvården och föräldrarna måste lämna utrymme åt den unga patienten att träna på de färdigheter som behövs, så som delaktighet i beslut, ansvarstagande, självständighet, problemlösning, coping. Med tillräcklig kunskap, erfarenhet och rätt stöd upplever tonåringen en känsla av empowerment. Syfte: Att beskriva resultatet av forskning som utförts om vilka färdigheter en tonåring med kronisk hjärtsjukdom behöver för att klara sin egenvård, vid övergången från barnsjukvård till vuxensjukvård.
