The main purpose of this thesis has been to identify and discuss problems connected with the preservation of newspapers in Sweden. Another purpose was to see if the preservation of newspapers has been influenced by the fact that preservation studies in general concerns printed monographs and digital materials. This qualitative study is partly based upon interviews with four librarians experienced in working with newspapers and preservation. The thesis deals with cultural heritage in general and on a more specific level with newspapers where the following questions are dealt with: Why preserve? Who preserves? How to preserve? and What is preserved? Strategies used for preserving newspapers such as paper, microfilming and digitization are described as well as legal deposit, the Swedish microfilming programme and TIDEN, a digitization project of newspapers.

Drink! The Marketing History of The Coca-Cola Company: A Modernization Perspective examines the development of The Coca-Cola Company?s marketing history, from the founding of the company in 1886 until today. The Coca-Cola Company has been superior on the market for over a century. It has also developed along with the urbanisation of its society, which is interesting in a modernization perspective. The essay investigates the marketing strategies of the company, with focus on three themes: gender, sponsorship and interactive culture phenomenon.

Bakgrund: Bröstcancer är den vanligaste cancersjukdom bland kvinnor i Sverige och i världen. Mellan 15 och 20 kvinnor insjuknar varje dag. Att få beskedet bröstcancer skapar förde flesta förvirring, ångest och chock såväl hos den som är sjuk som hos de som står den drabbade kvinnan nära. De förändringar som uppstår i samband med sjukdomen och de olika behandlingarna har stor inverkan på kvinnornas självkänsla och upplevelse av hälsa. Syftet: Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att beskriva kvinnors upplevelse av att leva med bröstcancer.

För personal i kriminalvården är det av central betydelse, både ur ett behandlings- och säkerhetsperspektiv, att känna till orsak och verkan för olika former av destruktiva beteenden bland intagna i fängelser. Det finns forskning som tyder på att en förhållandevis stor grupp klienter begår negativa handlingar för att de är oroliga att de kommer mobbas av andra intagna. Syftet med denna uppsats var att undersöka om ökad hotupplevelse i kombination med en ineffektiv förmåga att hantera det upplevda hotet på kan predicera oro för att bli utsatt för mobbning bland intagna på en kriminalvårdsanstalt. I uppsatsen undersöks också vilka copingstrategier som intagna anser vara mest hjälpsamma vid oro för mobbning, och huruvida deras val av copingstrategi understöds av andra intagnas förväntningar om hur man bör handla när man riskerar bli mobbad. Trettioen deltagare från en kriminalvårdsanstalt deltog i undersökningen.

The purpose of this study is to examine the experiences of five students searching for information in the context of writing a bachelor thesis. The main questions regard what strategies they use whilst searching for information, their relevance judgements and their feelings. The method used is the qualitative interview. The students were doing their third term in psychology. All the students were interviewed twice while working on the thesis.

Study objects: JM, Folkhem and ABB.Purpose: The purpose with this study are to examine how the supplier relations are in the construction branch and compare that result with how the supplier relations are for ABB a production company.Theoretical: The theoretical chapter illustrates important and relevant parts of supplier relations, purchasing and supplier strategies to give good overview. The theoretical review will combine information from different fields to consent with the research problem.Method: A case study has been made on three different companies, one of the companies was active in the production industry the other two were active in the construction industry. Data was mainly collected through semi structured interviews on each of the three companies.Conclusions: The size of the company decided which point of view the company had on purchasing, traditional or modern view. All three companies had a centralized purchasing organization but the construction firms were more decentralized than the production company. The reason was that the construction firms were dependent with more flexibility when every construction project is unique..

Purpose This thesis tries to create an understanding of how male homosexual entrepreneurs, both as persons and as a concept, relates to the fact that entrepreneurship, as well as the society as a whole, is heteronormative. Moreover, it examines by what methods the male homosexual entrepreneurs cope with the seemingly paradox of a homosexual man who also is an entrepreneur. Method The method has been qualitative from a social construction-point of view. We have made semi-structured interviews with nine male homosexual entrepreneurs and structured the findings from the interviews with a computer programme and mind mapping techniques. We have compared the structured findings with theories, in an abducting manner, to find out an answer to the purpose of this thesis.

This study aims to investigate the domestic and work organization at the mansions located in the south of Västmanlands county years 1705-1849. The study takes into account the manors' size, ownership, owners' status and social changes. The study includes both large manors with noble owners and smaller manors with bourgeois owners.  The study examines how the households were formed, how they changed over time and how thet may have links to the Manor's ownership and size. The organization of labour is studied on the basis of how it changed over time and what it may have links to the owners ' status and the manors size. SammanfattningSyfte och frågeställningar: Syftet med studien var att undersöka hur gymnasielärare i idrott och hälsa upplever sinarbetssituation och hur de nyexaminerade lärarna gör för att hantera den. Studiensfrågeställningar var: Vilka stressorer upplever lärare i idrott och hälsa i yrket? Hur hanterarlärarna i idrott och hälsa dessa stressorer? Vilka skillnader och likheter finns det mellannyexaminerade lärare i idrott och hälsa och de med mer erfarenhet i hur de hanterar dessastressorer? Upplevs arbetssituationen bli bättre efter en längre tid i yrket?Metod: Metoden som användes var en kvalitativ metod genom intervjuer, eftersom individensverklighet, det vill säga det upplevda, var av centralt intresse. Studien utgår från 8 styckenhalvstrukturerade intervjuer där fyra respondenter har mindre än två års erfarenhet i läraryrketoch fyra stycken har minst 7 års erfarenhet. Samtliga intervjuer har spelats in på en diktafonoch sedan transkriberats.

This is a study about employment officers at the Swedish public employment service. The aim of this study was to examine how they understand and use their discretion in their daily work. We used a qualitative method and the data was gathered by semi-structured interviews with eight employment officers working at the same office in a small town in Sweden. Lipskys theory about street-level bureaucracy and Lazarus description of coping theory are applied to analyze the empirical data. The work for the Swedish employment officers have changed over the last years with an increasing focus on control and administration.

Scientists and educational psychologists research have seen on self-regulated learning as learningconstruction. The purpose of this study is to examine how students use different educational learning strategies based on the principles for self-regulated learning (SRL). From the process of the previous research, different concepts and terms have been divided into three key concepts titled:Active choices and actions, Goal-orientation and goal setting, as well as consciousness and self-awareness.

SammanfattningSyftet med studien var att uifrån patienter, närstående och personal belysa de etiska dilemman och svårigheter som kan uppstå vid vård av patienter som får livsuppehållande åtgärder. Metoden som användes var en litteraturstudie. Litteraturstudien visade att etiska dilemman kunde uppstå vid beslut om att avstå, påbörja eller avsluta livsuppehållande behandling. I de granskade artiklarna framkom att det kunde vara stor skillnad på allmänhetens och sjukvårdens förväntningar på vården. Beslut som togs vid vård i livets slutskede var komplexa både ur ett medicinskt och känslomässigt perspektiv.

The aim of this thesis is to investigate new knowledge about how children search for library material and which strategies they use, and if the latest research gives any answers whether we should adapt systems and services or teach information seeking in a better way. In this thesis knowledge is understood as research publications but also results from projects in library practise, and studies concerning children 6 to 18 years old are included. The method used is a knowledge survey. We have gathered and evaluated documentation from different sources like citation and reference databases within the field of library and information science. The result implicates that there are, both in old and new documentation, three main search strategies children use in their search for information in a library context; they browse, they search in library catalogues and they use some sort of reference service.

Sustainability and the traffics impact on the environment have become increasingly central within spatial planning. For many years, planning has been focusing on building new roads - this has resulted in increased use of automobiles, which many believe is unsustainable in the longer term. Therefore, authorities at national, regional and local level want to increase the use of alternative transport modes ? such as walking, cycling and traveling by bus.The thesis intends to study if the Municipality of Umeå?s policies for sustainable development have led to an increased use of public transportation. The use of public transport in Umeå is also compared with developments at national level, in order to see if there are differences in the level and trend.
