Spillvärmeåtervinning ur kylvattensystemet ismältverket på Sapa Profiler AB i Sjunnen

The smelting process at Sapa Profiler AB in Sjunnen generates large quantities of waste heat which is absorbed by the Cooling water when the aluminum is cooled down. This paper is the result of a Master?s Degree Project aiming to present the conditions for recycling the waste heat. The Cooling water absorbs the heat from the aluminum at an average rate of 600 kW and the paper shows that it can be used to replace electrical power consumption for heating the production plant?s facilities.

Hållfasthetsegenskaper i gjutjärn : tensile properties of cast iron

In the last few years people have become more and more aware of how humanity is affecting the climate. In the direction of reducing the greenhouse gases is to design engines with higher tensile properties and reduced weight, in order to achieve lower fuel consumption and cleaner fuel incineration in today's truck engines.In order to achieve these requirements it?s necessary to increase the combustion pressure in the engine. This requires higher tensile properties and high thermal conductivity of the engine material. The department of Component Technology at the University of Jönköping in collaboration with Volvo Powertrain AB, Scania CV AB and DAROS Piston Rings AB has been commissioned to develop this material and to find knowledge of material properties used in truck engines and piston rings used for marine applications.The purpose with this work is to analyze the tensile properties of a series of cast iron, cast under different metallurgical conditions.Four different series of cast irons have been analyzed from four points of view, carbon concentration, nodularity, amount inoculation and Cooling rate.After the tensile test all specimen data was analyzed in a mathematic calculation program called Matlab 2006a.

Spillvärmeåtervinning

SAPA´s resource of waste heat is the basis for this thesis to investigate the possibility of energy assets in their Cooling water and possible uses for it. The energy in the waste water is greater than the current need which has three uses which are (1) heating the factory, (2) converting liquid propane to propane gas and (3) local domestic heating. The average energy load that is available is 1, 7 MW and the average temperature in the Cooling water is 41°C. The total energy load at dimensioning out side temperature is approximately 1,6 MW for the three current uses. The temperature is currently too low to be used directly in the existing systems so an upgrade is needed.

Uppsatsens syfte var att undersöka vilken betydelse yttre påverkan och inre drivkrafter har haft i fyra individers karriärutvecklingsprocess inom en hårt konkurrensutsatt bransch, samt hur dessa har hanterat denna. Datainsamlingen genomfördes med hjälp av semistrukturerade mailenkäter, och det insamlade materialet bearbetades med hjälp av deduktiv tematisk analys. De teman som ligger till grund för analysen är: studie- och yrkesvägledning, Cooling down, empowerment, informationsteorier, forskningslitteratur samt karriärvalsteorin SCCT. Studien visar att samtliga respondenter har utsatts för dämpande påverkan, Cooling down, under sin uppväxt, både från skolpersonal, och den egna familjen, men också att de erhållit empowerment från andra håll. Respondenterna har hanterat denna yttre negativa påverkan på olika sätt, men gemensamt för dem alla är att de visat på en inre drivkraft, som trots den nämnda negativa påverkan gjort att de nått framgång inom sitt gebit.

Möjligheter och hinder vid vägledning av kvinnor med akademisk utbildning som studerar på SFI

Studiens syfte är att ge fördjupad kunskap inom studie- och yrkesvägledningen gentemot kvinnor som kommer från länder utanför Europa och som har en akademisk utbildning med sig till Sverige. Studien utgår från att kvinnorna går på SFI. Undersökningen är utformad utefter både vägledarperspektiv och sökandeperspektiv. De centrala frågorna i studien belyser den konkreta vägledningen, svårigheter och möjligheter samt motivation och ambition. Den senare delen av studien berör frågan om Cooling down, det vill säga om de sökande upplever att deras ambitioner blir dämpade eller modifierade.

The current economic situationhas contributed to declining demand for newsprint, which means it is extra important tobe competitive by high energy efficiency. Particularly as energy prices are expected torise when the economic growth returns.One way to increase energy efficiency is by reducing the water use in paper and pulpmills and consequently save energy through reduced heating of water. The thesis's maintask is to evaluate whether a water purification plant (microflotation plant) forpurification of process water in PM 53 is profitable. The microflotation plant enablesreuse of warm process water instead of losing the energy to receiving waters.

This is achieved through semi-structured interviews with 20 different interviewees. These interviewees represent different facets of the industry and facilitate an understanding of which factors, such as: investment costs, operating costs, reliability, environmental impact and the influence of external and internal actors, come into play and to which degree they impact the investment decision-making process. The results show that primarily low operating cost in the form of low energy consumption is the driving factor when it comes to the procurement of new equipment. A lower environmental impact is a positive side-effect of lower energy consumption.

Vattenfall Heat Uppsala has decided to introduce an energy management system with the aim to increase the energy efficiency of the plant. The basis in such a system is to make an energy mapping.In this thesis an energy mapping has been performed at the waste incineration plant with the aim to identify and determine the size of energy flows. The investigated energy flows are used fuel, produced and used steam, produced district heating and Cooling. Also the use of electricity to run the processes has been investigated.

Ett flervariabelt feldetekteringssystem för övervakning av bärlagertemperaturen i vattenkraftturbiner

The purpose of this thesis work was to develop an automatic fault detection system for surveillance of bearing temperature in hydropower turbines. The parameters used except the bearing temperature were Cooling water temperature and Cooling water flow. A simple static model based on data sampled every minute was developed to estimate the bearing temperature. Then a detector for detection of change in bearing temperature based on the CUSUM-algorithm was designed. Since the amount of data was very small the developed model was too uncertain to be used in a working system.The designed fault detection system showed to work well for the available data.

Restvärmeåteranvändning från absorptionsvärmepumpar : en kartläggning av möjligheter och begränsningar vid Vattenfall Värme Uppsala Block 5

Vattenfall district Heating power plant in Uppsala produces district Cooling with absorption heat pumps which leads to a large amount of waste heat that has to be cooled with evaporative Cooling towers. The Environmental Court has ordered Vattenfall to survey the possibilities to recover the heat, which is the focus of this thesis.The study begins with an overview of the system, and conditions and limitations for waste heat recovery is examined. In the next step alternatives to recycle the heat is evaluated, either by direct recovering or by upgrading.First, the technical possibility of each alternative is discussed, and then the operation time and the amount of recovered heat is calculated. Those alternatives which are possible are brought further to an economic analysis.The cost of investment for each alternative constitutes the basis for a present value analysis. The results are put together in a table where the total amount of recovered heat is compared with the present value for the different alternatives.
