Purpose/Aim: To investigate why people in the age group of 30-40 subscribe to the traditional morning newspaper even though they can get the same information at a much lower cost from for example TV, the internet or the free daily papers. The aim is to also look at possible future alternatives to the traditional morning newspaper.Material/Method: Focus group interviews were used to gather the empirical material. These consisted of a total number of twelve people, divided into three groups. The results from the focus group interviews were analysed with help from established uses & gratifications theories and two diffusion theories.Main results: This study shows that people read the traditional morning newspaper to get a good mixture of entertainment and local, national and global news. Abstract Aim: Since there is a lack of research based educational interventions concerning the relationship between coaches and young athletes, the aim of this study was to implement and examine the effects of sport psychology intervention for coaches in a track and field club. The research questions were: What are the effects of an educational intervention for coaches, with focus on a motivational climate, on: A) the coaches´ coaching approach B) their athletes´ goal orientation and C) their athletes´ perceived competitive anxiety?Method: The coach education stretched over two months and consisted of four two-hour lessons with focus on motivational climate, goal orientation and sport anxiety. Six coaches (three females, three males), aged 38-52 (M=44.33 years, SD=4.84) and their 59 athletes (27 males and 32 females) aged 12-14 (M=13.10 years, SD=0.82), participated in the study. A control group of 35 athletes (10 males and 25 females), of the same age (M=13.46 years, SD=0.70) and with similar demographic data, was also recruited.
Long-term Storage of Starch Potato and its Effect on Starch Yield
Lyckeby Starch AB is a farmer-owned company that produces products based on potato
starch. In order to increase their production efficiency and their international competitiveness
the company is investigating the possibilities of keeping their factories open longer. To
achieve this, potato has to be stored for a longer period of time than what is practiced today.
Starch potato is usually stored in large piles covered by straw and plastic, either in the field or
on the farmyard.
The objective was to examine in what way starch yield (starch content*tuber weight) in
three different potato varieties was affected by storage in two different types of storage piles.
The potato was stored for three months in total and starch content and tuber weight were
controlled throughout the period. Stored tubers were also visually examined and prescense of
mechanical damage as well as wet rots and dry rots was recorded. Bacteria and fungi were
isolated and identified.
In general, varietal differences were greater than differences between the storage piles.
Inverkan av transgena grundstammar på fruktkvaliteten hos icke-transgena äppelsorten ?Jonagold?
Gene technology has become more and more attractive in plant breeding during the last twenty years. This is probably because it can readily improve the existing commercial cultivars that have only one or a few drawbacks by modifying one or a few genes without changing the main genetic constitution. In this regard, gene technology is more effective than conventional breeding. The aim of this project was to analyze the fruit quality of the non-transgenic apple scion ?Jonagold? grafted on non-transgenic and rolB-transgenic apple rootstocks. The rootstocks used were M9-rolB1, M9-rolB2, M26-rolB and non-transgenic controls M9 and M26.

Svensk asylpolitik : En studie kring styrning och långa handläggningstider på Migrationsverket
The Swedish Migration Board has during a long time had problems with long processing times for persons that apply for asylum. The government has set targets that investigation should not exceed 6 months although it is done in almost 70% of cases. The study's aim has been to examine if steering can be linked together to long processing times and, if so, explain why. The intention has not been to provide a comprehensive picture of the problem but has defined itself to ensure steering impact. The study has been carried out by studying relevant governing documents, previous research and by interviews with administrators and decision-makers in two of the Migration Board asylum units. The analyses of the study show that a combination of inadequate steering and inadequate resources have contributed to aggravate the implementation, which has lead to long processing times..
Motion som egenvård : en studie om personer med erfarenhet av självupplevd psykisk ohälsa och psykiatrisk vård
Backround: Many studies indicate that people with mental illness often suffer from physical illness. Many people with mental illness do not exercise even though they often have knowledge about the benefits of physical activity. Studies suggest that psychiatric patients have the desire to have an everyday life with more content. It is apparent in studies that healthcare professionals believe that it is the patients' own responsibility to keep themselves physically active.Aim: The primary objective with this study is to examine motivation and possible obstacles to exercise for persons with self-perceived mental illness and experience of psychiatric care. The secondary objective is to investigate how psychiatric care may be of importance to people with mental illness when it comes to exercise. Methods: Semi-structured interviews.
Vitamin A och E i relation till hästutfodring :
The purpose of this study was to examine vitamin A and E in equine nutrition and especially in relation to forages. A literature review was conducted to examine factors that influence the level of vitamins present in forage, the vitamin A and E requirement of horses, and the absorption of vitamin A and E in horses. The influence of DM level on alpha-tocopherol and beta-carotene content in ensiled forage was investigated in a controlled ensiling study using baled silage and haylage. The results from the ensiling study were combined with data of vitamin A and E concentrations collected from literature. Calculations were done to theoretically establish how well the vitamin content in ensiled forage can cover the
maintenance requirements of vitamin A and E in horses.
Effects of milking system on plasmin and plasminogen activity in bovine bulk milk
Protein is an important component in various milk products and has a crucial role in the final quality. Excluding non-protein nitrogen, bovine milk contains about 3.3% protein whereas about 80% of this fraction consists of casein. There are four major members in the casein family: ?s1-casein, ?s2- casein, ?-casein and ?-casein. Proteolytic enzymes are the cause of degradation of the economically important milk proteins.
Från frihet till fängelse: En studie av klientflödet på Häktet Kronoberg
In the last decades, lean production has proven to be one of the most important organizational paradigms in manufacturing. The Sound of Skepticism Analyzing Climate Change Denial in Swedish Podcasts and YouTube Channels
This study explores Sweden's climate change denial by analyzing the spoken-word discourse of
its countermovement, focusing on digital media content from Swedish parliament member Elsa
Widding with an aim to provide empirical insights into the discourse of Sweden's Climate
Change Countermovement (CCCM). Questions guiding this study are: What are the most
prevalent topics and themes related to climate change denial and skepticism? How do they align
with established categories of climate change denial, shaping the overall narrative? What
mobilizing ideas and meanings are present, how are they shaped, and how do they contribute to
the movement's goals? The material consists of Elsa Widding's complete audio-based
"movement texts'' from 2019-2023, including YouTube content, podcasts, and appearances on
Riks, totaling over 2000 minutes of audio transcribed into text via AI technology.
Methodologically, this study adopts a mixed-method approach which blends computational
pattern detection, topic modeling, clustering, and spatial relationship mapping techniques, along
with qualitative content and framing analysis. Theoretically, the study employs a perspective
which uses epistemic and response skepticism to examine climate change denial, viewing it
through the lens of countermovements and social movement framing. The study's main
contribution lies in the enablement of comprehensive analysis of a large audio-based dataset,
achieved by leveraging recent AI advancements for reliable audio-to-text conversion combined
with topic modeling.
