AbstractThis paper is a study in press reception with the intent to examine how twelve female actionheroes have been portrayed in Swedish media between 1974 ? 2006. The purpose is to discern patterns and differences in how the female movie character is received by their contemporary journalists and to relate their views to social and gender related theories. The female actionhero is an independent and brutal character, often alone and without a mother or a child. This separates her from typical female roles, which historically been characterized by passivity, fear and dependency on the male characters in the movie. The female actionhero as a character opens up for complex reception. One perspective in the research identifies the independent woman as a feministic icon.

Hand raising is a common method in schools and a way for students to engage in the classrooms turn-allocation (Andersson & Haglund 2006, p 35), but not all benefit from it. According to Dylan Wiliam (2011) hand raising divides the students by putting the students that participate in hand raising at an advantage versus the students that do not. This study aims to examine hand raising as a phenomenon and the students and teachers thoughts about hand raising. The main research questions were:How do the students perceive hand raising?How do the teachers reflect upon hand raising?How is hand raising usedas a tool by the students?The main reference to this study has been senior lecture Fritjof Sahlströms (1999) thesis Up the Hill Backwards.

The Catalan movement of Independence is a well debated subject in Spanish news for the last decade. This thesis aims to examine what kind of identityarguments that spanish versus catalan newspapers make about the independence movement, in relation to nationalism and national identity. This is to deeper the understanding about the current complex situation in the Iberian Peninsula. The research shows that identityarguments about the independence movement presented by catalonian newspapers clearly put focus on identifying the ethnic and cultural reasons for the growing nationalism in the region, as well as discussing the political possibilities and obstacles of a sovereign Catalonia. In comparison, the identityarguments presented by spanish newspapers has another view of the situation, where the political aspect of the nationalistic catalan movement, identify the process as defying the Spanish Constitution and challenging the traditional historic unity of Spain.

In 1985 the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions published a paper on recommended depreciation time on capital assets for the public sector. This paper should only be seen as guidance, but many municipals use it without any further investigations. Swedish municipals are not like private companies; one very distinguished difference is that they are not allowed to make any profit. The municipals in Sweden are regulated by the constitution law which means that they can not go bankrupt. The public and the private sector have different legislations that result in different ways on how they for example treat depreciations.

Vår undersökning utgick från de vetenskapliga frågeställningarna ? Vad styr utrikeskorrespondenternas utformning av nyhetsnätet?? och ?Vilka konsekvenser har relationen till hemmaredaktionen för arbetsrutinerna och nyhetsnätet??Vi stödjer oss på Gaye Tuchmans teori om news net, nyhetsnätet. Teorin går i korta ordalag ut på att man som journalist behöver en systematiserad nyhetsinsamling, ett nyhetsnät, för att på bästa sätt bedriva journalistiskt arbete. Varför är detta intressant? Bakgrunden till vår uppsats är att vi tror att utrikeskorrespondenter har ett för reportrar annorlunda arbetssätt till följd av deras förutsättningar (verksamma i ett annat land, samhälle etc.) Frågeställningen kring relationen till hemmaredaktionen är relevant eftersom utrikeskorrespondenten får antas ha ett kunskapsövertag gentemot hemmaredaktionen vad gäller det geografiska området korrespondenten är satt att bevaka.Vi har utfört kvalitativa forskningsintervjuer med ett urval av utrikeskorrespondenter som alla representerar europeisk tryckt press, och som alla är baserade i Stockholm.

Målet med detta examensarbete är att skapa en guidebok och tillhörande webbsida om fotvandring i Rumänien. I rapporten genomförs en målgruppsanalys samt en empirisk undersökning. Resultatet av dessa blev en serietestade hypoteser om målgruppens egenskaper. Därefter innehåller rapporten en genomgång av hur boken och webbsidan skapades och anpassades efter målgruppens egenskaper, utifrån hypoteserna..

Under senare år har organisationers ansvarstagande flitigt diskuterats utifrån miljömässiga och sociala aspekter. På grund av detta har organisationer börjat känna en ökad press att arbeta för en hållbarutveckling. För att visa vad man gör för en hållbar utveckling och för att skapa trovärdighet, har organisationer börjat redovisa hur man arbetar med dessa frågor. Från denna utveckling har hållbarhetsredovisningen vuxit fram och blivit en viktig del av en organisations strategi. I dagsläget är det främst de stora energibolagen som har fullt utvecklade hållbarhetsredovisningar.

Islamic masculinity which quite often associates with oppression of women has remained an underexaminated category despite its constant presence in the debate on honour related oppression. Honour has primarily been studied from a feminine point of view and theories of masculinity have taken insignificant interest in the issue of honour. The aim of this study is to understand what attitudes boys/young men from the Muslim world have toward native Swedish men and what these attitudes do imply for their own conceptions of masculinity and honour. The ambition of this study is also to make explicit the similarities, differences and connections between honour and masculinity.The empirical basis of this study consists of twelve interviews with boys/young men from the Muslim world about their notions of honour and masculinity. The theoretical platform arises from theories of masculinities and honour.Some prominent ?patterns? that I have found:- That religious norms and rules appear to be significant in how the masculine manners of conduct should be adjusted.- That honour and women as carriers of men?s honour, play a crucial role for the constitution of proper masculinity.- That the Swedish context and its policy of equality seem to threaten the obviousness of the islamic masculinity.

The parallel bars is used in physical therapy and is mainly used for patients who have to train walking and balance after a stroke or an operation. It consists of two long handrails with two legs on each handrail. These legs go down into two ground-plates and are locked at the wanted height with a pin. The parallel bars is an appreciated device and is used on a daily basis in many care units.The main issue with the manual parallel bars is that it is very difficult and heavy for a single person to adjust the height of it. If a larger adjustment of the height has to be done, the legs have to be adjusted one at a time otherwise the they will be locked.

AbstraktArbetslösheten runt omkring i Sverige har växt, samtidigt som landets högskolor och universitet lockar fler sökanden. I Borås där vi har genomfört vår undersökning har antalet högskolestudenter ökat med 11 % från 2008 till 2009 och detta är den största ökningen de senaste fem åren. Trots denna ökning är studenter till lågutbildade föräldrar fortfarande underrepresenterade. Barnen påverkas av föräldrarnas sociala klasstillhörighet i sin möjlighet till framgång i utbildning. Med kapitalt, habitus och motivationsstrategier som teoretiska utgångspunkter är syftet med vår studie att få en bild av varför en grupp studenter har valt att vidareutbilda sig på högre nivå.

The intention of this essay is to inquire into the (re-)constitution of gendered/sexed identities in a gothicistic discourse. The used material is the work Atlantica, chapter 5, vol. 2, written by the Swedish historian/Medical professor Olof Rudbeck. I have chosen this chapter for its description of mythological characters relationship with the earth, the sun and the moon. A description based on a concept of strength and reproduction as gendered characteristics.

The aim of this essay is to get deeper into the mysteries of love as they manifest themselves as most open: in literature. I have studied the two French writers Claire Etcherelli and Françoise Sagan, both writing about love in the 50?s Paris. While Etcherelli?s love takes place between factory workers, Sagan?s scene is the upper middle class.

Sjuksköterskeyrket präglades tidigt av kyrkans tanke om ett kall. Lönefrågan var länge tabu eftersom yrket ansågs vara ett barmhärtighetsverk. Sjuksköterskeyrket fick omgående en renodlad kvinnodominans och har fortfarande 90 % kvinnliga yrkesutövare. Vårdande har länge setts som en kvinnlig egenskap och synen på yrket har starka kopplingar till kvinnligt genus. Våren 2011 startade studenter ett medialt uppmärksammat uppror med syftet att höja ingångslönen för nyexaminerade sjuksköterskor.
