Earlier research has shown the difficulty of defining insulting behaviour in the workplace. It has been noted that the individual and subjective definition is connected to the specific situation in which the potentially insulting incidence occurred. In this study we designed a quantitative questionnaire in order to hopefully elucidate the Comprehension of insulting behaviour and furthermore enable a more in-depth investigation on how important the contextual meaning is. This study examined 140 (n=140) working adult?s attitudes towards insulting behaviour in the workplace and the importance of the contextual variables.

Fonologisk medvetenhet, ordavkodningsförmåga, bokstavskunskap och arbetsminneskapacitet har visats predicera den tidiga läsförmågan. Syftet med föreliggande studie var att undersöka hur dessa olika kognitiva förmågor tillsammans förklarar läsförståelse hos barn i första klass. Läsförståelse, ordavkodning, fonologisk medvetenhet, bokstavskunskap samt arbetsminne undersöktes hos 36 elever i årskurs ett med normal hörsel och svenska som modersmål. Resultatet visar att ordavkodning och fonologisk medvetenhet tillsammans förklarar 62 % av variansen i läsförståelsen hos deltagarna. Slutsatsen är därmed att ordavkodning och fonologisk medvetenhet tillsammans predicerar läsförståelse i årskurs ett..

Vår undersökning behandlar läsinlärning och läsförståelse. Utifrån ett pedagog- och elevperspektiv har vi undersökt begreppet läsförståelse, vad det innebär att kunna läsa och förstå text, vilka förutsättningar det kräver och hur lärandet sker kring detta. Vi har som utgångspunkt för vår undersökning använt oss av olika forskningsperspektiv på läsinlärning samt berört olika läsinlärningsmetoder. Genom kvalitativa intervjuer med pedagoger och elever har vi undersökt deras uppfattningar om hur man lär sig läsa och vad detta innebär för läsförståelsen. Resultaten har gett oss en insikt i att pedagogen bör vara lyhörd och stödja eleven genom olika verktyg, för att hjälpa eleven i läsutvecklingen.

The aim of this qualitative study was to study high school PE teachers´ experience of health in high school and how they work with health in their physical education. This was examined by interviewing five high PE school teachers. The results show that all teachers were in the category humanistic approach. They saw health as more than only absence of sickness. The methods for using health in their physical education were divided into three different categories; physical health, improve the individual and theoretical health.

The purpose of this thesis was to create a deeper Comprehension for the role of place marketing within Swedish municipalities and how it is applied to attract visitors and residents. A case study was performed to obtain this purpose. Interviews with three northern municipalities were conducted in order to retrieve essential information. This was compared to previous studies of place marketing in order to find similarities and differences. The results of this study showed that municipalities emphasise on creating an attractive image, directed to the residents as well as to people outside.

The aim of this study was to gain a Comprehension of managers experience of their identity and their construction of identity in the work sphere. 14 semi-structured interviews were performed with managers in the public sector. The interviews were analyzed from a hermeneutic approach. The results showed that the managers´ experience of their identity and their construction of identity were full of nuances and was characterized by a being and a becoming. The managers had several social identities at their disposal, which were brought to the fore due to the situation.

The aim of the thesis is to explore how the human subject is depicted in contemporary posthumancinema and how these films effect our Comprehension of human subjectivity. The object of analysis isJames Cameron?s Avatar (2009) and the method of analysis is cybernetic and intermedial. The conclusionis that Avatar is a film that depicts a posthuman network society where existence and subjectivity in a greatvariety of forms is possible. The film presents posthuman subjects in symbiosis with avatars, terminals,extensions and prothesis.

The purpose of this study was to identify reading strategies used by high school students when reading textbooks and school-related material. Any differences in reading strategies between Biology and English were also of importance. A study sample of 62 students from three different high schools in Sweden participated in the study and were asked to fill out a survey questionnaire. Eight students from this sample were also interviewed. The findings of this study show that students use a number of different reading strategies of which metacognitive and sociocultural factors play a crucial part.

The aim of this study was to investigate the result of an effort to support reading development and the reading motivation. My approach was an intervention study during four weeks, where intensive reading in a group of three pupils in grade one took place. Individual conversations and group conversations were central methods in combination with different ways of processing the texts. Interviews were conducted with the class teacher and the participating children to see the difference in reading and motivation before and after the project. The result shows that an intensive period with reading fiction books with subsequent conversations and different processing of the text is a useful developing method for decoding, reading Comprehension and reading motivation.

The aim of this study is to investigate how the employees of temporary-help service firms experience their situation as employed by one company and working at another. We have used a qualitative approach to reach an increased understanding for the daily situation of the contingent worker. The essay is based on participant observations and semi-structured interviews with six contingent workers.

This essay elucidates upper secondary students? literacy practices, (literacy events, literacy competencies and literacy culture) during a typical day, with focus on the daily literacy practices. A literacy ethnographic study conducted in the environment which participants naturally are, at home, at school and in leisure. The study is inspired of a project, Skriftbruk i arbetslivet, ´Literacy Practices in Working Life´, that conducted by Anna-Malin Karlsson, Per Ledin and Olle Josephson, in collaboration with Vetenskapsrådet ´Science Council´(2002-2004).The result of this study shows that students from professional preparing programs not use such literacy competencies that been tested in traditionally reading Comprehension test, particularly much. However, do they read a lot during the literacy practices day by television, computer and mobile phone.

Abstract The aim of this study is to find out how teachers view the importance of reading in the teaching of foreign languages. In relation to this, we wish to gain understanding of what teachers want to achieve with reading, how they choose texts and what difficulties they encounter in getting their students to read. Six teachers from three different upper secondary schools in southern Sweden were interviewed for the study. We also examined the text-materials that they were using for their instruction. The findings show that students read mostly adapted texts from textbooks and, to a limited extent, authentic materials.
