The breakdown of the ratification process of the EU constitution was in Sweden blamed on a lack of a debate concerning European issues. The constitution can be seen as the best and latest, but in no way the only, example of this problem. The breakdown can also been seen as proof of a larger legitimacy crises within the EU. The aim of the study is to determine whether or not there really was of lack of debate concerning the constitution in Sweden. This question is theoretic¬ally connected to EU legitimacy through Habermas idea of a public sphere.

SammanfattningDenna studie syftar till att undersöka hur enhetschefer inom äldreomsorgen resonerar kring begreppet värdighet hos äldre personer som bor på särskilt boende, samt hur de ser till att deras personal omsätter värdighet i det praktiska arbetet. Värdighetsbegreppet diskuteras främst i förhållande till komponenterna bemötande och självbestämmande. Studien genomfördes med en kvalitativ forskningsmetod i form av semisstrukturerade intervjuer med fem enhetschefer inom äldreomsorgen. I analysen användes fyra olika teorier om värdighet, nämligen (I) meritvärdighet, (II) värdighet som moralisk resning, (III) identitetsvärdighet samt (IV) människovärde. Studien visar att begreppet värdighet rymmer en mängd olika beståndsdelar enligt enhetschefer för äldreomsorgen.

ABSTRACT New in a foreign country ? the importance of civic orientationJessica Gerhardt & Hiba Sultan We have examined the information on parenting in Sweden that is given to new immigrants through civic orientation. The aim of the study was to investigate how new arrivals are being informed of Swedish laws and regulations relating to child rearing and corporal punishment. The study also aims to examine how a lack of information about raising children in civic orientation can affect newly arrived families. Our empirical work has been created by a focus group interview with the child and family unit on social services and a call interview with an SFI-teachers who teach newly arrived immigrants in civic orientation.

The aim of this study was to shed light on the phenomenon of sex purchase amongst men from the perspective of professionals working at KAST*. Our main research questions concerned who the sex-purchasing men are, what their incentives are and furthermore how the professionals depict their work with these clients. In order to examine this we conducted three qualitative research interviews. The theoretical framework used to examine our results consisted of social constructivism and professional acting space. Main results show, contrary to research, that the ?typical? sex buyer does not exist, nor do specific motives.

However, studies have shown that these rationalizationsdo not support flexible and mobile work routines.PocketRIS is a prototype illustrating a mobile terminal for radiology that hasbeen designed to simplify workflow and reduce the cognitive workload of healthcarepersonnel. PocketRIS includes a visualization of the clinicians work situationincluding a personal referral list that can make the user attentive of importantevents.Contextual Design has been used to elicit the basic system requirements for thesystem; 19 contextual inquires was conducted with physicians, nurses and assistantnurses at two different radiology clinics in Sweden during six days. The purposeof the study was also to identify the groups that have the greatest need for amobile terminal. The study was concerned with design and evaluation of differentsolutions with healthcare personnel.The result shows that physicians and assistant nurses have the greatest need ofa mobile terminal.

Föreliggande uppsats handlar om enhetschefers förtroende för omsorgspersonalen inom hemtjänsten ur enhetschefsperspektiv. Eftersom förtroende är ett begrepp som kan se olika ut beroende på vilket område som undersöks, avgränsas uppsatsens undersökning till att gälla enhetschefers förtroende i samband med förekomsten av omsorgspersonal som stjäl hemma hos brukare. Omsorgspersonals stölder hos brukare av hemtjänst är ett outforskat område, det enda som med säkerhet kan sägas är att det förekommer. Därför har uppsatsen som syfte att undersöka hur enhetschefers förtroendebild och kontrollåtgärder ser ut för att kunna ha förtroende avseende förekomsten av stölder. Teorierna som används för analysen är Uslaner´s teori om moralisk och strategisk tillit och Luhmann´s teoretiska funktionsanalys av förtroende samt Cohen´s och Felson´s rutinaktivitetsteori.

The aim of this master thesis is to discuss the access to literature and reading by mentally retarded persons, and how this is affected by library and care taking staffs awareness of mentally retarded persons needs of literature and reading. The reason why we decided to choose this essay topic, is that there is a lack of research about mentally retarded persons relationship with libraries, literature and reading in the field of library- and information science. This groups needs must be brought to sight, so that they can take part in the literature just as anyone else, on their own conditions. Our study involves interviews with four librarians, three reading representatives and a co-ordinator at the Easy-to-Read Foundation. We can establish that all of our informants prove to have significant knowledge about mentally retarded persons and their needs of literature and reading.

The purpose of this study can be expressed by two researchquestions: Does the Economist Intelligence Unit's (EIU) democracy index illustrate thedistance between reality and the ideal of democracy presented by Dahl? and Can the EIU'sdemocracy index be modified by a) internal adjustments and b) using the variables includedin World Economic Forum?s (WEF) equality index?By using a combination of theories (Dahl?s theory of democracy, Rawls theory of justice andchosen theories critical to liberal democracy) as an analytical framework the following twoquestions have been answered:1) Which of the variables included in the EIU's democracy index have the potential to capturethe level of political equality?2) Which of the variables included in the WEF?s equality index have the potential to capturethe degree of political equality?By using a quantitative method the study?s third and last question has been answered:3) How strong is the rank correlation between the EIU?s democracy index and the WEF?sequality index, that is; how strong is the rank correlation coefficient (rho)?The data presented by the WEF?s equality index indicate that women are systematicallydiscriminated against as a group. From a democratic perspective the EIU may need tomeasure inequalities at a group level in order to capture the lack of political equality betweenindividuals. The aim of this literature study was to give a clear picture of what gastric dilatation-volvulus is, and how the acute- and postoperative treatment and care is managed. The general aim is to support and help the veterinary technicians in their clinical work. Gastric dilatation volvulus is always an emergency. The primarily goal when these dogs are hospitalized is to establish an adequate cardiovascular function. This is done by immediate intravenous fluid therapy followed by decompression of the dilated stomach.

Införandet av en mobil intensivvårdsgrupp (MIG) har visat sig ha goda resultat utomlands med minskade andningsstopp och mortalitet inom pediatrisk vård. Vid Astrid Lindgrens Barnsjukhus i Solna, Sverige (ALB) finns långt framskridna planer på att starta en MIG-verksamhet. Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva pediatriska patienter som faller in under potentiella MIG-kriterier innan inläggning på barnintensivvårdsavdelningen/barnintermediäravdelningen (BIVA/BIMA) på ALB. Studien gjordes retrospektivt genom journalgranskning av inskrivna pediatriska patienter på BIVA/BIMA under 2009. Totalt inkluderades 148 pediatriska patienter i åldern 0-18 år i studien.
