Abstract Aims and objectives. To examine whether an intervention with carbohydrate- counting at onset of type 1 diabetes in children, has had any effect on metabolic indicators such as HbA1c , BMI-sds and total daily insulin / kg, 2 months and 1 year after onset by age and gender .Background. The pediatric department at the university hospital of Norrland in Umeå (NUS), has since several years a higher average HbA1c among children 0-17 years, compare with pediatric departments in the rest of Sweden.  Therefore, in autumn 2011, an intervention was made to teach children with diabetes and their parents to count carbohydrates from the onset of diabetes. Using this method they can regulate their insulin doses depending on the amount of carbohydrates they are eating.Design. This is an empirical registry study done on the basis of a quantitative method.

Aim: To investigate if physical exercise in combination with coaching will reduce pain and improve knee function in patients with mild to moderate osteoarthritis in the knee compared to physical exercise alone.Method: The study consisted of 42 patients who were randomized to either an intervention group or a control group. Both groups followed a standardized training program at home, but the intervention group received additional support with regard to the aim of their training, as well as extra coaching during the training period of ten weeks. A Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was used to evaluate the patients? pain. A 10 metre walking test, the Index of Muscle Function (IMF) and the Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) were also used to evaluate knee function.

Skolutveckling och ledarskap, Specialpedagogik, Lärarutbildningen, Malmö högskola. Lösningsinriktat arbete, SFBT eng., har under det senaste decenniet använts som en mo-dell/metod i skolan. Modellen/metoden har använts både i inlärningssituationen och för att främja elevers socioemotionella utveckling. Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka vilken veten-skapligt granskad forskning som finns tillgänglig för lösningsinriktat arbete i skolan och vil-ken effekt metoden har i skolkontext.

The purpose of this paper was to examine how youths, age 18-20, experience the verdict to the probation service and how it affects their lives. We have examined the relation between youths and the probation service from a youth perspective, what kind of support and intervention they receive and how their surroundings react and respond on the verdict. Our research was based on a qualitative method consisting of individual interviews with eight youths and one interview with a social worker from the probation service. We have used Urie Bronfenbrenner's "the Ecology of Human Development" as our main theory and the conceptions labeling, participation and the key terms adversity and protective environment to analyse and comprehend the material. We found that all eight youths were satisfied with the probation service and the help they had received.

Världen har förändrats från Kalla krigets stormaktsspel till dagens globaliserade värld, där internationella organisationer spelar en allt större roll i politiken. NATO som bildades i Kalla krigets motsättningar har ändrat fokus från att innan bara ha riktat sin blick mot öst till att idag verka som en global interventionsmakt.Vi har i vår normativa uppsats, med utgångspunkt i deontologin, analyserat NATO:s interventioner i Kosovo och Afghanistan efter Jus ad bellum-kriterierna som återfinns i Just War-teorins första del. Syftet med detta är att kunna ta ställning till huruvida NATO kan anses vara en legitim aktör i interventionssammanhang. För att kunna presentera ett bredare resonemang har vi även valt att kritiskt granska vårt teorival ur ett konstruktivistiskt synsätt. Det vi således har kommit fram till är att NATO:s interventioner varit legitima, men att organisationen i sig inte kan räknas som legitim i detta sammanhang på grund av dess tvivelaktigt demokratiska karaktär..

En av de vanligaste ätstörningarna i dag är Anorexia Nervosa, som yttrar sig främst i självsvält och ofta även överdriven träning. Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva arbetsterapeuters erfarenhet av gruppaktiviteter som en intervention för klienter med Anorexia Nervosa. Studien baserades på sex intervjuer med sju deltagare. Data analyserades enligt kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Analysen resulterade i fyra kategorier: Arbetsterapeutens planering av gruppaktiviteter, arbetsterapeutens roll och förhållningssätt i gruppaktiviteter, arbetsterapeutens erfarenhet av att gruppaktivitet både kan stödja och hindra klienter, arbetsterapeutens erfarenhet av att gruppaktivitet på olika sätt leder till förändrat aktivitetsutförande.

Då antalet motionärer och utövare av tävlingsidrott ökar finns det risk att antalet skador ökar i motsvarande grad. Syftet med denna interventionsstudie var att undersöka om det gick att minska antalet skador hos manliga elitishockeyspelare under en säsong genom implementering av somatiska och kognitiva interventioner. Undersökningsdeltagarna bestod av en experimentgrupp och en kontrollgrupp med 9 respektive 13 ishockeyspelare. ACSI-28 och SAS användes som mätinstrument för copingresurser och personlighet i form av ängslan/oro genom en före- och eftermätning. Interventionerna bestod av avslappning, stresshantering, målsättning, självförtroende och attributioner.

AbstractMaterial collected or created through observations, discussions and interviews with a group of students studying theatre in the fist year of upper secondary school formed the base for this paper. The students that took part in the observations showed a variety of motivations for the studies in theatre, but the major aim was to obtain qualifications for further studies at university. Special focus was put on a student with dyslexia attending the course in theatre from the perspective to strengthen general learning abilities. The training and teaching in acting skills as performed in the theatre studio provided the arena for the observations. The aim was to investigate if an interactive process as defined by Lev Vygotskij and the acting method created by Constantin Stanislavski would create social and artistic development among the students in the study.

Abstract Aim: Since there is a lack of research based educational interventions concerning the relationship between coaches and young athletes, the aim of this study was to implement and examine the effects of sport psychology intervention for coaches in a track and field club. The research questions were: What are the effects of an educational intervention for coaches, with focus on a motivational climate, on: A) the coaches´ coaching approach B) their athletes´ goal orientation and C) their athletes´ perceived competitive anxiety?Method: The coach education stretched over two months and consisted of four two-hour lessons with focus on motivational climate, goal orientation and sport anxiety. Six coaches (three females, three males), aged 38-52 (M=44.33 years, SD=4.84) and their 59 athletes (27 males and 32 females) aged 12-14 (M=13.10 years, SD=0.82), participated in the study. A control group of 35 athletes (10 males and 25 females), of the same age (M=13.46 years, SD=0.70) and with similar demographic data, was also recruited.

The aim of this thesis has been to achieve a deeper understanding of how librarians provide adult readers with individually adapted readers´ advisory in public libraries. The focus within this context, has been to find an answer to how the librarians understand what appeal factors the readers are attracted to and what kind of reading experience the readers are looking for to be able to match book and reader.To be able to find answers to our research question we conducted eight interviews with librarians working with readers´ advisory in eight different public libraries in Skåne. Our theoretical standing point for the thesis has been that of Marie L. Radford and Cathrine Sheldrick Ross. Sheldrick Ross provided theories concerning the appeal factors of books.

Barn som växer upp med en förälder med psykisk ohälsa löper större risk att själva drabbas av psykisk ohälsa. Det finns ett stort mörkertal kring hur många barn i Sverige som växer upp under dessa förhållanden. Det är dock många som trots stora påfrestningar klarar sig bra i livet. Anledningarna till att barnen klarar sig bra är skyddsfaktorer som finns inom barnet och i dess omgivning.Uppsatsens syfte är att med kvalitativt angreppsätt, utifrån två perspektiv studera hur individer kan uppleva det att växa upp med en förälder med psykisk ohälsa samt vilket stöd som målgruppen kan efterfråga. Studiens resultat visar att uppväxten med en förälder med psykisk ohälsa kan påverka individen.

The purpose of this study was to examine young offenders? attitudes towards crime, and to the penalty they have been sentenced to as juveniles. More specifically its aim was to examine an intervention program called Galaxen, specifically used  to deal with  juveniles  in Växjö. This intervention program consists mainly of conversations with social workers from social services,  aiming  towards  better  self-awareness  and  the  ability  to  understand  the  consequences  of one?s actions.
