Due to increasing regulations regarding new diesel vehicles particulate matteremissions the new Scania truck, Scania Euro 6, has been equipped with a particulatefilter. This component effectively stores the particles in the exhaust gas but must becleaned in order to prevent itself from clogging. The filter is cleaned through aprocess named regeneration which is a thermodynamic process in which thetemperature of the filter is raised through fuel supplied to the exhaust gas.The purpose of this thesis is to contribute to the development of improved controlstrategies of the temperature during the regeneration process through thedevelopment of model-based controllers. These controllers are designed in order tohave good performance in stationary as well as automatic regeneration.In order to develop these model-based controllers a model of the system isconstructed. The model is described as a linear thermodynamic grey-box model withflow varying parameters, showing good results in validation.The model provides a simulation environment during the controller design, which isfocused around the development of linear regulators with the exhaust gas mass flowas a scheduling variable whose size determines controllers? mode of operation.

How schools handles threat and violence among pupils could have an effect on the surrounding world, since schools reflect society at large. This study attempts to explore how this is handled within two schools, one secondary school and one upper secondary school. How do the schools work with violence and threats amongst pupils? Who is responsible for what? Is this work based on school guidelines? Why/why not? The five films were chosen because they all originated from the same campaign against bullying amongst schoolchildren. The methods used were partly rhetoric analysis and partly visual rhetoric analysis.Main results: The conclusion we can draw from this study is that Friends anti-bullying films uses several rhetoric methods, both classic and visual, to convince their audience. Occurrence of pathos (emotions) arguments as convincing method was most commonly used, followed by ethos (sender trust) and only a few logos (fact) arguments.

Denna studies syfte är att se på rörlighet på arbetsmarknaden utifrån ett individperspektiv och hur vägledning kan vara till stöd på individnivå. De frågeställningar arbetet behandlar innefattar sju individers erfarenheter av arbete,vägledning och utbildning. Utifrån dessa faktorer behandlar vi teorier kring rörlighet och matchning till arbetsmarknaden. Vi har genomfört en litteraturstudie i kombination med en empirisk undersökning med sju kvalitativa intervjuer. De slutsatser vi drar är att vägledning kan påverka individers rörlighet på arbetsmarknaden och att vägledning kan bidra till att individer matchas till utbildning och arbete.

Safe retrieval of nutrients from human excreta to fertilize crops in order to gain adequate yields will increase food security and sustainability in agriculture areas with nutrient-poor fields. Safe and nutritious food will meet the dietary needs of the individual which promotes public health and the ability of an active life. Human excreta should be considered as a resource instead of being assumed as waste. Human faeces and urine is excellent fertilizers which may close the nutrient loop if utilized properly. However, sanitation of the excreta is required to prevent disease transmission by reducing the content of gastrointestinal pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and parasites. The objective of this study was to in small scale evaluate the sanitation in a combined liquid compost and urea treatment by monitor the inactivation of bacteria and viruses at the combination three start temperatures, 45, 40 and 35 °C, and three additions of urea, 0.5, 0.75 and 1 % and reference, 0 % urea addition.

The aim of this thesis is to study the cause of Egypt´s failed development of the transition to democracy and vice versa, the reason why Turkey succeeded in democratic transition. Thesis methodology is a comparative analysis between design units Egypt and Turkey. The wild boar Sus scrofa population in Sweden has increased rapidly in the last decades which has led to conflicts among stakeholders, for example due to crop damages in agriculture. Thus, there is an urgent need of quantified goals and effective strategies for wild boar management. To develop such strategies, knowledge on population dynamics is fundamental. In this study a deterministic matrix model was used to estimate population growth, based on previously published data. The exponential growth rate for a wild boar population was calculated to 1.48.

The Swedish and the Finnish compulsory care legislation that regards abusers differ in several ways. The arguments for compulsory care and for the time which one will receive compulsory care are dissimilar. The aim of this thesis is to describe and analyse which arguments for compulsory care and the length of the care time that has been expressed in the Swedish and the Finnish laws and in the statutes. The tools were an argumentation analysis, which is a form of qualitative text analysis method, combined with a hermeneutic scientific position. We have investigated the arguments that try to justify compulsory care and the care time that has been expressed in the laws and the statutes.

Föreliggande arbete tar sin utgångspunkt i en observation av hur United States Marine Corps (USMC) använde pansarvärnsrobotförband förvånansvärt aggressivt under Gulfkriget 1991. Med syftet att studera denna taktik och att därigenom skapa en ökad förståelse för pansarvärnsrobotförbandens taktiska möjligheter/begränsningar skapas en problemformulering som undersöker vilken relevans USMC:s taktik med pansarvärnsrobotförband i Operation DESERT STORM har för svenska armén idag? För att kunna besvara denna övergripande fråga bryts den ned till tre forskningsfrågor som beskriver vilken taktik som karaktäriserade USMC:s pansarvärnsrobotförband, därefter förklarar motiven för denna taktik och slutligen värderar vilka lärdomar som svenska armén kan dra från detta 2012.Resultatet visar att marinkårens taktik i huvudsak har låg relevans på grund av de unika förutsättningar avseende terräng, siktförhållanden och teknikasymmetri som förelåg i Persiska viken 1991. Terrängen var nästan helt platt vilket gav god effekt för pansarvärnsrobotarnas övertag i skjutavstånd gentemot irakiska stridsvagnar. Oljerök och dimma gjorde att deras termiska sikten kunde verka där inga irakiska motsvarigheter fanns.
