In Sweden there are 354 000 private individuals owning forest. Of these forest owners there are at least two thirds that are self-employed, which means that about 215 000 forest owners conduct some kind of work in their own forest. Those numbers do not refer to firewood production, but every year 7.3 million piled cubic meters of firewood are used for heating Swedish households. This implies that many households are also producing firewood. The objective of this study was to assess and analyse the small-scale firewood production in the Umeå-region in terms of persons engaged in the work, equipment used, produced volumes and share of forest-owning households involved in these activities. According to results from a questionnaire, the average firewood producing person is a man between 40-60 years old.

The retailing industry has an extremely high density of brands. In order to differentiate its offer, both retailers and suppliers, are constantly forced to come up with new ways to launch their products. A collaborative strategy between two brands is called co-branding, which means that both the private label and the supplier's brand are displayed on the new product packaging. Several studies have shown that a co-branding strategy is successful, but many operators are still reluctant to use co-branding in fear of long-term losses due to potentially damaged business relations. The objective of this study is to explain how the product- and brand related value for customers, retailers and suppliers is affected by co-branding between private labels and national brands.

Denna fallstudie har sin grund i socialt ansvarstagande och behandlar komplexiteten kring hur små- och medelstora företag arbetar inom området i Kina där socialt ansvarstagande ses som ett hinder, men också har kommit att uppmärksammas i allt större grad på senare tid. Mindre företag har en kritisk betydelse för att socialt ansvarstagande skall fungera i sin helhet, men det är ingen självklarhet hur dessa företag skall arbeta med socialt ansvarstagande på grund av avsaknad av forskning på området. Studien syftar därför till att beskriva och analysera hur svenska små- och medelstora företag påverkar sina kinesiska intressenter inom socialt ansvarstagande. För att uppnå studiens syfte har intervjuer genomförts med tre personer från olika företag med ansvar för företagens sociala ansvar i Kina.Studien visar att kineser har en mycket låg medvetenhet kring socialt ansvarstagande och större fokus ges istället till finansiella mål. Socialt ansvarstagande ses som ett hinder för ekonomisk tillväxt av kineser i allmänhet och för att kunna påverka kinesiska intressenter behöver företagen därför påvisa en ekonomisk nytta med det.

Företagens sociala ansvarstagande, det vill säga Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), är ett aktuellt ämne som ofta diskuteras och uppmärksammas i såväl medier som också hos företagsledare. Det kan finnas flera förklaringar till att företag väljer att ta ett frivilligt ansvar. För att kunna få en fördjupad förståelse för företagens samhällsengagemang är det därför angeläget att identifiera vilka drivkrafter som ligger bakom ett CSR-arbete.Syftet är att beskriva varför de undersökta företagen arbetar med CSR samt att identifiera de främsta drivkrafterna bakom de undersökta företagens CSR-arbete.Studien baseras på en kvalitativ insamlingsmetod i form av telefonintervjuer. Det för att erhålla djupare förståelse för varför företag arbetar med CSR. Intervjuerna hade en semistrukturerad karaktär och genomfördes med respondenter från sex företag, vilka samtliga bedriver ett aktivt CSR-arbete.

This essay investigates the relationship between Mildred and her daughter Veda in James M. Cains novel Mildred Pierce (1941). The purpose of the investigation is to point out how the relationship is portrayed in the film from 1945, and the TV-series from 2011. During year 2007 ClaraHälsan Ltd bought the company health service Solstahälsan in Karlstad. The wide merger of the two health services the problems arose around the employees? employment agreements when certain parts of the agreement differ. This paper deals primarily with the developmental potential and use of court -based mediation in Swedish law, and its relation to court-based conciliation and the judicial procedure as means to end a conflict.  In Chapter 42, Section 17 of the Swedish Code of Judicial Procedure, a judge, before the parties have their main hearing, can act as a mediator between the parties to settle the dispute. The judge should, according to the law, always try to make the parties come to an agreement before the main hearing. This obligation can be fulfilled either through the use of court-based conciliation, or court based mediation. Mediation as such is rarely used in Sweden, and one of the goals of this essay is to try to provide a tentative answer to why that might be the case.  The second goal is to try to find a consistent, yet flexible notion, of the concept of ?jurisdiction?, and to provide an explanation for the relation between mediation as an alternative method for dispute resolution and the judicial procedure.                                                                                                                                            .

Based on the effects of liquidity we developed a research question concerning how concentration of ownership effects liquidity of corporate shares the studies conducted for companies listed on Nasdaq OMX during a period with major changes on the stock market and is also investigating weather other company-specific differences can explain differences in liquidity. Purpose: The study's purpose is to study the relationship between ownership concentration and liquidity, and whether other factors might explain differences in liquidity. In the field of municipal services there are a wide range of aspects a small community must consider, especially considering that the circumstances in which a municipality operate continuously are changing. The changes include, for example, migration, individual lifestyles, the political governance and environment. Especially the latter might have a big impact on a town based on tourism such as Borgholm. We particularly have taken an interest for how this might affect the internal branding and internal brand communication of Borgholm municipality.Through our research we have found that Borgholm municipality in no particular extent is working with living the brand or any similar concepts. Also, we have found that the success of the internal branding of the organization in a great extent depend on the individuals of the different branches of the municipality?s work rather than on a coherent communication structure which reaches the whole organization..

This thesis has been carried out in autumn 2009 at Uppsala University for Boliden Mineral AB. Physical modelling has been used to model a comminution circuit. The model has then been linked to a PLC.When a concentrator is about to become operational Boliden Mineral AB have been looking for a way to test the PLC. The purpose of this report has therefore been to develop models for the subprocess in a concentrator and link these models to the PLC. The subprocess was a comminution circuit in Aitik36.
