AbstractAim: The purpose of this thesis is to research how women think about fashion in relation to their self and to others. Can Clothes be an expression of who we are who we want to be and how we look at others? What are the main characteristics in this type of communication and what kind of information can be distributed using this tool?Method/Material: InterviewsMain results: Clothes can work as a tool to show who we are and what we are, mainly on short term. We use Clothes for different purposes, sometimes we what to be seen and really show who we are and what we stand for and sometimes we just what to go with the flow and not be seen at all. We will always have a physical need for Clothes but it is also a natural and important part of our individual expression and our identity.Keywords: Fashion, Clothes, Identity, Lifestyle.

Att klä av sig makten? : En kvalitativ undersökning om kläders betydelse för socialarbetare

The aim of this study examines how two groups of social workers at two workplaces reflect to their own Clothes in various work situations. We want to gain an understanding of the variables that affects social workers choice of Clothes at work. In a qualitative approach the study is based on two focus group-interviews and four semi structured interviews. Empirically analyzes relate to Pierre Bourdieu?s "la distinction, Ervin Goffman?s "frontstage-backstage", and of Michele Foucault?s power concepts.

Research establishes, that Clothes constantly communicate something about its wearer. You send out different messages depending on what sort of Clothes you are wearing. For example, a suit can project social status and power, while, a pair of jeans usually conveys a more casual impression. Either way, research state that Clothes are symbolic expressions.This essay focuses on the theme Clothes and pupils within the school world. Do pupils today experience Clothes as symbolic values? By using qualitative interviews, I have examined how four senior high school pupils talk about Clothes and its potential symbolic value in school.

The purpose of this study was to investigate a group of teenage girls and their relation to Clothes by using the theories about habitus and different types of capital by the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu. We have used semiotics since we also wanted to know what Clothes symbolized for our respondents. The questions were therefore:1. How is a group of teenage girls who go to school in Stockholm city influenced by their habitus and symbolical capital in their attitude and relation to Clothes?2.

The market for eco-labelled products has developed rapidly from the early nineties in Sweden. There is a full variety of environmentally friendly products on the market today, and perhaps organic food is the most popular alternative. Eco-Clothes have not reached the same amount of success as other eco-labelled products on the Swedish market. In this essay I will discuss and analyze which factors that have influenced green consumers attitude and behavior towards eco clothing. Four interviews with green consumers in Karlstad have been done in order to explore consumers attitude and behavior.

Most scientists believe that in the good times the peasant had the opportunity to follow fashion. Virestad parish does not follow fashion. My purpose is to try to understand something of the mechanism that made Virestad do so: that I will do by analyzing the results in relation to the concept of status. My main source is estate inventories. Here I examine the status markers and differences in what they invested in Clothes and jewelry in relation to the estate's proceeds.The lower the balance, the more percentage they need to put on Clothes.

Hur Internet används i konsumentens köpprocess vid handel av kläder

A study based on the consumer buying decision process to discover the typical use of the Internet in the consumer buying decision process when buying Clothes. The matter is researched through an Internet survey which discovers how the consumer use the Internet in each step of the buying decision process by using predetermined options. As a result, the conclusion is that people most commonly use the traditional alternatives in the buying decision process of Clothes. However, information about a product is often collected on the Internet, mostly on different webshops. The main reason, for people to buy Clothes on the Internet, is that the consumers consider it is more convenient and time saving.

Sustainable shopping : consumer behavior in purchasing and donating secondhand clothes

Textiles are made in an unsustainable way and there is a need to find alternative ways and material to reduce the negative impacts on the environment, humans and animals. Problems like pollution, excessive water consumption and loss of soil fertility is a result of this lack of diversity. It is a necessity to find innovative alternatives in other fabrics due to the unsustainable use of cotton and polyester fibers. As in many other countries in the Western part of the world, in Sweden there is a rapid turnover and increased selling of Clothes that result in increased textile waste. About 15 kilogram of textiles (net inflow) is consumed per person each year.

Svårigheterna med försäljning av kläder på Internet

This thesis has enlightened how consumer behavior is when buying Clothes via the Internet and the problems and difficulties that could face the companies. This study was conducted through interviews with people that have bought Clothes through the Internet, traditional catalogues and real stores. The conclusions showed that the Internet is as suitable as traditional catalogues for buying Clothes. Another dimension were put to the aspect of availability to a virtual mall in the design of the catalogues. Finally, it is in the best of the e-business companies interest to study how e-catalogues should be structured and designed for the consumers..

ELVEEL - grafisk identitet till klädmärke

In my project I have collaborated with Linda Larson, who is the creator behind the fashion brand Elveel. The goal was to produce an identity and a graphic profile for Elveel. The aim was that the graphic profile would act as an extension of the Clothes aesthetics. I wanted to explore if I by different folding and cutting techniques, in tags and packaging, could reflect the details of the Clothes expression. But also how different design elements can reflect the story behind the Clothes.

De fina skillnaderna : Vem och vad signalerade status i klädedräkten, Öjaby och Virestad under 1780-talet.

This study examines patterns of consumption during the 1780s in Öjaby and Virestad parishes. I have examined the Clothes and jewelry in estate inventories using the concept of status. Then I have used Pierre Bourdieu's theories to understand fashion mechanisms.I have identified five different groups, each distinguished by their formal wear. Men have similar Clothes but in Virestad they have more items and more silver. Four people were divergent, they choose other materials and models.

Kläder : En kvalitativ undersökning om klädernas betydelse för socialsekreterare

The aim of our study is to explore social workers view on the importance of clothing. We want to know how and if social worker reflects on the importance of their clothing and how it may affect their clients. Dresses social workers differently due to different work situations? Play client`s Clothes any role in the social welfare officers? Can client`s clothing affect the assessment of their problem?The study is based on a qualitative method. The data consists of two focus group interviews with four social workers in each group, containing three women and one man in each focusgroup, with a total of eight informants.The results of our study indicate that the Clothes are important in meeting with clients and especially as to help create a relationship with the client.
