Background During the child?s first year of life there is a continuous contact with the Child Health Services (CHS) and the parents feel confident and involved. After the first year, the visits to the CHS is reduced at the same time as the everyday life changes for the family as the child starts going to day-care and the parents often go back to work.Aim To examine what it is like being a parent to children aged one to five and what kind of parenting support parents of children aged one to five are in need of.Method Semi-structured interviews were used to interview 25 parents in 21 telephone interviews and one focus group with 4 parents. The recruiting of parents was done on site at one open day-care and with the help of CHS nurses in Sweden. There were 10 men and 15 women.

The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe through a quantitative study the extent of support received by foster families, their opinion of the support and any areas that might need improvement. The foster families receive foster care support through a private agency. We concentrated on the following areas of support; education, health, contact with the children?s biological relatives and behavioral difficulties. These four areas have, in previous research, shown to be problematic for foster children.

Background: The amount of elderly patients who?s suffering from dementhia increases every year. Many of these patients develop and decrease in their cognitive ability. The development can lead to people's communication skills deteriorate. It can be a problem for the nurse to communicate with these patients.

Introduktion: Ett av de viktigaste målen inom förlossningsvården är att kvinnor får en positiv förlossningsupplevelse. En positiv förlossningsupplevelse utvecklar en positiv inställning till moderskapet och hjälper till att underlätta övergången till att bli föräldrar. Trots att det framkommer i ett flertal studier att ett gott stöd, bemötande och trygghet främjar en positiv förlossningsupplevelse, förekommer det att avsaknad av dessa tre faktorer som orsakar negativa upplevelser för nyblivna föräldrar.Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva orsaker till att föräldrar inte är nöjda med stöd och bemötandet och/eller inte kände sig trygga i samband med vård under förlossningen, samt att beskriva vad som kan förbättras i stöd och bemötandet.Metod: En webbaserad enkät som besvarades av nyblivna föräldrar efter förlossningen under 2011 på ett sjukhus i västra Sverige. Web-enkäten innefattar föräldrarnas upplevelser under hela vårdkedjan, mödrahälsovård, förlossning samt BB. Denna magisteruppsats består av en analys baserad på tre slutna frågor samt efterföljande tre öppna frågor där en lägre grad av nöjdhet alternativt missnöjdhet (5%) gällande upplevelser av stöd, bemötande och trygghet i samband med barnafödande.

Attityder och beteende i ungdomsåren vad gäller sexualitet kan ha stor betydelse för hur den sexuella hälsan utvecklas. Ungdomsmottagningen är en betydelsefull arena för att förebygga sexuellt överförbara infektioner och oönskade graviditeter samt för att främja ungas sexuella hälsa i helhet. Undersökningen har utförts i samråd med och på uppdrag av Landstinget i Jönköpings län. Syftet med studien var att undersöka ungdomsmottagningarnas verksamhet i Jönköpings län och finna förslag till underlag för att kvalitetssäkra ungdomsmottagningarna i länet. Enkätundersökningen baserades på Socialstyrelsens förslag på indikatorer och Föreningen för Sveriges Ungdomsmottagningars (FSUM) rekommendationer för ungdomsmottagningars verksamhet.

Background: Prediabetes is caused by relative insulin deficiency and insulin resistance in the body tissue which leads to abnormal blood glucose levels. Prediabetes can over time lead to type 2 diabetes mellitus. To prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes and its complications, it is important to identify early elevated blood glucose levels and thereby prediabetes.Objective: To describe nurses' knowledge and experience regarding the management of patients with prediabetes.Methods: Qualitative descriptive design with individual interviews. Three nurses, three community health nurses and three diabetes nurses were interviewed.Results: The result can be understood from the nurses' experiences of encountering patients with prediabetes. An overarching theme in the analysis was that the nurses are working or aspiring to work preventively.

Background: Hand hygiene is the simplest and most fundamental means to prevent care related infections. It is of great importance that the guideline of hand hygiene is followed for the patient?s sake. Unfortunately, healthcare workers perform hand hygiene too seldom. If the patient comes down with a care related infection, the suffering will increase.

ABSTRACT The aim of this thesis is to illustrate how surgical operation theatre nurses perceive debriefing within emergency health care. The study has a qualitative design with semi structured interviews that have been performed with seven operating room nurses working in emergency health care. The strategic selection consists of professional operation theatre nurses working in emergency care at Uppsala University Hospital. The main goal of this thesis is to increase the understanding of debriefing and to highlight the need of debriefing after difficult or unexpected events in the emergency health care profession.The interviewed nurses perceive debriefing as an important way to develop the day to day work, but also as a way to unburden the staff at the time of bigger traumas. Even though the effect of debriefing is not univocally positive in the literature, the staff perceives that it reduces different kinds of stress.

AbstractBackground. The need for drugs delegation is increasing as more and more sick people are cared for at home and too few nurses working in home health care. Because of this, the number of delegations per nurse is often unacceptably high.Aim. The aim of this study was to describe the public health nurses´ experience in drugs delegation to home care staff in home care.Method. In this study a qualitative method with an inductive approach was used.

Background: Ill-health related to unhealthy lifestyle is increasing and despite existing knowledge about healthy lifestyle it is difficult to change behaviour. Counselling in the primary health care is often superficial and without critical elements for behaviour change. Aim: The aim of this paper to elucidate interventions for change of lifestyle with respect diet and physical activity. Method: A literature review was carried out and ten scientific articles were analyzed and compiled in two main categories: design of these interventions and participation in them. Results: Education, decision making, goal setting, feedback, social support and follow-up were identified as critical elements for behaviour change.

De goda fysiologiska effekterna av fysisk aktivitet har länge uppmärksammats och ny forskning pekar även på flertalet psykologiska vinster. Det är dessutom allmänt känt att en stillasittande livsstil kan leda till en rad olika sjukdomar och försämrat hälsotillstånd. Patienter med psykisk ohälsa som vårdas under tvång har begränsade möjligheter till aktivitet och ett minskat självbestämmande gällande upprätthållandet av en god fysisk hälsostatus.Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka yrkesverksamma sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av fysisk aktivitet för patienter som vårdas inom psykiatrisk tvångsvård. Metod: Designen var en empirisk intervjustudie med kvalitativ ansats.

Background: Female circumcision or female genital mutilation is a tradition that is carried out mainly in Africa. The intervention refers to that part of- or all of the girl?s external genital organs are removed. Aim: The study's purpose was to highlight the consequences of female circumcision in the encounter with western health care.Method: A systematic literature reviews was performed as a method. Twelve articles were selected for the study and these were sought in Chinal, PubMed and PsycINFO. How does Prime Cares self-image correspond to the way that customers apprehend the company?Material/Method: Twenty interviews has been done with different customers of Prime Care in order to see how the company and its communication flow is apprehended. A consultant manager of Prime Care has also been asked about purposes behind the companies external communication channels in order to enable a comparison between Prime Cares image and profile. Prime Cares website, one of their mail sendouts, their salescalls, salesvisits and their exhibition participation have been studied on the basis of relevant litterature. Maletzkes model of mass communication was used as a general view of communication flow.Main results: All communication channels included in this study have different ways of function even though they all have the same main purpose, videlicet to promote the company, to inform about its activities and to recruit new customers and consultants.
