Den spruckna bergmassans mekaniska beteende påverkas i hög grad av diskontinuiteterna. Slutna lösningar är generellt mycket sällsynta, åtminstone för komplicerade problem och numeriska analyser måste därför användas. Tvådimensionella konceptuella numeriska analyser har använts för att studera spänningsberoendet hos bergmassans styvhet samt bergkilars stabilitet för olika sprickgeometrier. Flera olika numeriska analyser utfördes med hjälp av UDEC (Universal Distinct Element Code) med två olika angreppssätt, ?Metod 1? och ?Metod 2?.

In the increasing urban environments and the modern societies demands for sustainability there is a challange in planning cities with a balance between density and a satisfying access of recreational environments. For attractive cities these environments need to be designed to fit every inhabitants? demands and opinions in some way. Increased knowledge and understanding is therefore needed about how different design styles in landscape architecture affect people and the cities. In this bachelor thesis benefits and disadvantages as well as the experience and impact of two fundamental design styles i discussed; naturalistic and formal/abstract design.

I Västerbotten pågår ett bok- och berättarprojekt som heter Give me five. Det är initierat av biblioteken och vänder sig till alla femåringar och deras vuxna, framförallt i förskolorna. I Skellefteå kommun pågår sedan 2007 ett projekt som heter Sagostafetten, och det har varit inspirationgivande för det länsövergripande projektet Give me five som startade 2011. Den här utvärderingen har tittat på projektets verksamhet i Skellefteå kommun.Syftet med utvärderingen var att undersöka hur projektets mål uppnås men även ta reda på hur bibliotekarierna upplever att projektet fungerar och genom dem även se vad barnen upplever och får för erfarenheter. Utvärderingen har gjorts med hjälp av semistrukturerade kvalitativa intervjuer med fyra bibliotekarier som arbetat med projektet sedan start.

Modern semiconductor design methods makes it possible to design increasingly complex system-on-a-chips (SOCs). Testing such SOCs becomes highly expensive due to the rapidly increasing test data volumes with longer test times as a result. Several approaches exist to compress the test stimuli and where hardware is added for decompression. This master?s thesis presents a test data compression method based on a modified facsimile code.

METOD: Systematiskt litteraturstudie där sju artiklar och en avhandling ingick vilka var etiskt granskade. RESULTAT: Fyra kategorier identifierades, adekvat kompetens, tillåtande vårdmiljö, holistisk människosyn och reduktionistisk människosyn.

This study draws from Zygmunt Bauman´s theory that a governmental policy of values can reduce the personal responsibility and moral choices for employees, to focus only on maintaining the government?s internal rules and regulations. The apparent risk with this type of moral attenuation is that the employee is deprived of the possibility to react morally on conduct of the government?s external misuse of power. In this study, this theory is connected to the Swedish Armed Forces? policy of values, as these values do not include a critical standpoint for officers and soldiers.

Numera påträffas de i de flesta floder, grundvatten och i majoriteten av alla mänskliga varelser. Detta har medfört att allt fler krav ställts på omgivningen. Miljöredovisningen föddes i slutet av 1960-talet och själva startskottet för miljöredovisning skedde i samband med Brundtlandrapporten 1987. Inom kaffebranschen har det länge stått stilla när det gäller arbets- och miljöfrågor. Det tog fart när stora aktörer på marknaden, däribland Löfbergs Lila, startade Common Code for the Coffee Community 2006.

Rapid Granulator is one of the world's largest producers of granulators, which is a kind of grinderwho grinds discarded plastics to granules which later can be reused when pressure molding plastics.The company wanted help in developing a new, or alternatively extending their previous,measurement equipment. The old equipment was hard to use, required changes in the code fordifferent measurement scenarios and had a limited array of measuring quantities. Rapid had an ideaof a similar concept only with a greater number of input ports, better range of applicable sensors andan advanced yet easy to use interface. The system is supposed to be placed at Rapid's test departmentwhere it will be used as a tool for finding faults and provide data which can be used for furtherdevelopment of the granulators.The project's members accepted the task and immediately began searching for suitable componentsfor the system. After the search was completed a list of costs, limitations, sensors, I/O's anddevelopment environment was presented to Rapid's staff.

Studiens syfte är att beskriva ett antal börsnoterade företags uppfattningar kring god intern kontroll samt huruvida dessa företag anser att den interna kontrollen kan kvalitetssäkras via Svensk kod för Bolagsstyrning, och i så fall på vilket sätt.

This is a thesis project in the field of information technology which begins by evaluating existing food price comparison systems and subsequently aims to design an improved, web based system for said purpose. The system features interfaces for price reporting, price comparisons as well as various search and review functions. The objective is to create a system able to compete with existing price comparison systems, which requires careful selection of products that can be found in all foodstores that also represent different households; a user-friendly price reporting and price comparison interface and an efficient tool for ensuring the validity of reported prices.The designed system features a more accurate formula for calculating average prices in events where the real price is missing; a more reliable security mechanism forv alidation of reported prices and a more comprehensible interface for viewing price reports, reporting prices, reviewing stores and products in comparison with existing systems. The system does, however, suffer from some optimization issues primarily in the form of inefficient database modeling; SQL queries and JavaScript code although testing has shown that these shortcomings do not hamper overall performance to such a degree that usability is compromised. Further usability testing performed on the system with five test subjects shows that a high level of overall user-friendliness has been achieved even though some special features, such as the detailed report containing price information per product for each store need to be improved.It is not possible to say at this time whether or not the designed system will be able to compete with existing ones or if the very concept of food price comparisons per se is viable in terms of profitability and marketability.

AbstractThe research project Liberation, supported by the European Commission under the Environment and Sustainable Development Programme (Fifth RTD Framework Programme) aimed at developing a decision support system for ecological risk assessment of contaminated sites has proposed a tiered system including the triad method. This method integrates contaminant chemistry and bioavailability analyses with observed ecotoxicological effects in soil and groundwater. In this study the triad method was used to perform a risk characterization of a former surface treatment and metal industry, now used for the student union buildings of the Mälardalen University in Eskilstuna, Sweden. On the site, high concentrations of copper, zinc and nickel have been detected in the soil in a preliminary investigation of contaminant levels with XRF. For performing the risk assessment of the site according to the triad method, contaminant bioavailability, soil metal concentrations and soil toxicity were determined and an ecological assessment was carried out on four selected soil samples (one reference soil and three samples with low (B), medium (C) and high (D) contaminant levels). Contaminant bioavailability was measured through leaching (ISO TC 190/S7) and biouptake tests (DGT).

The impact of computer programs in safety-critical systems has increased in the past decades and computer-based systems can now be found in a wide range of applications. A new approach for developing dependable systems is documenting all design rationale that affects safety using Intent Specifications. A recent approach for developing complex systems efficiently and in an upgradeable manner is Component-Based System Engineering. In this thesis, these approaches are combined in the development and upgrade of a Remote Robot Control Unit by using the tool SpecTRM. The case study showed that Intent Specifications and CBSE could successfully be combined.

En bit in på det nya millenniet har Asien blivit världens handelscentrum när det gäller produktion av textil. Inte minst modeföretag i Skandinavien förlägger sin produktion i områden där utbildningsnivån är låg och där fabriksarbetarnas rättigheter förbises i jakten på dem lägsta priserna. Till de konsekvenser som de nya uppmärksammade globala marknadsvillkoren innebär, räknas konsumenternas intresse för fabriksarbetarnas rättigheter. Kundernas ökade krav och påtryckningar om att modeföretag ska ta socialt ansvar har varit och är en pådrivande kraft för textilföretagens sociala ansvarstagande, ett ansvarstagande mest känt under förkortningen ?CSR?.

Media brings attention to the concept of preschools being in large need of more male teachers. In order to implement an increase of male teachers, various methods have been employed, most of which are based on the concepts of gender and equality. In question however, are the views of present teachers on the need for male teachers, and their expectations of those men! Or in other terms: What particular type of men are requested? And how does this correspond with the gender patterns induced by male teachers in their daily practical work? The purpose of this survey is to analyze expectations of male teachers and their role in the preschool context, through a gender perspective. I want to shed light on this purpose based on two questions: What ?kind? of men are requested by the present teachers? and Which gender patterns will the men induce to their daily work chores, and to their interaction with the children? The survey was conducted by means of interviews, polls, and observations, and the results were obtained from two preschools of which one in particular has extended focus on gender issues.
