Bakgrund: Cirka 50 000 svenskar insjuknar årligen i cancer. Cancerbeskedet påverkar såväl den sjukdomsdrabbade som de närstående. Därför är det viktigt att tillräckligt känslomässigt stöd och information ges även till de närstående. Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att belysa närståendes behov av information och känslomässigt stöd då anhörig drabbats av cancer. Metod: Studien bygger på fem artiklar med kvalitativ forskningsansats och två artiklar med kvantitativ forskningsansats.

This thesis deals with the ethical attitudes of professionals working with Methadone or Subutex assisted rehabilitation, concerning the constructed guidelines and directions from the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare. The central themes in the thesis are: 1. What do professionals think of the rules concerning admissions to the rehabilitation programme? 2. Obesity is the most common nutritional disorder, and is defined as an accumulation of excessive amounts of adipose tissue in the body. Obesity is a condition where an animal exceeds its optimum body weight by more than 10-25%. Risk factors associated with obesity may include breed, age, castration or high energy intake relative to energy consumption. The consequences of obesity are believed to be metabolic and hormonal changes, as well as cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, orthopedic problems, tumors and premature death. Prevention and early detection of obesity leads to better health care.

Ofta blir den demensdrabbade tvungen att flytta till ett boende. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att belysa vad som bidrar till en god relation mellan anhöriga till och vårdare av demensdrabbade, som bor på boende. Metod: En litteraturstudie med kvalitativ ansats gjordes.

Africa is expected to go through a rapid urbanization over the next four decades and the demand for food is increasing in the rapidly growing urban and peri-urban (UPU) areas. Keeping livestock in urban areas is in particular associated with health hazards. This is due to close interaction between humans and animals, and it has been shown that zoonotic diseases are increasing in urban areas. The benefits of urban and peri-urban agriculture (UPA) are related to improved food security, in particular among low-income groups. Apart from the negative public health impact of zoonotic diseases, animal disease could have a devastating impact on the economy and food security of many households in these areas. In the present study, three important endemic diseases, including brucellosis, salmonellosis and Bovine viral diarrhea (BVD), were analyzed in regard to seroprevalence and risk factors.

Diabetes mellitus type 2 and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) are two of the most common diseases in the world and the amount are increasing. The treatments of these diseases are self care and a change of lifestyle. For this to be successful there is a need for the person to have knowledge about the diseases and a motivation for making changes in his or her lifestyle. Most of this information is given by the district nurse at the health centre. It is important to get a better knowledge of these persons experiences and how they used the information given to them.

Working horses in developing countries are mostly used for transportation. They are often owned by people with limited economical resources and lack of knowledge about how to take care of the horses and due to this the horses often suffer from problems such as dehydration, poor body condition, lesions and parasitic infections. The aim of this master thesis was to investigate if free veterinary care improved the health and hydration status of working horses in Nicaragua and it was performed as a part of a project called ?Free veterinary assistance for working horses and training of their owners as veterinary promoters in the Pacific coast of Nicaragua?. Five parameters were used to investigate whether free care improved the health of working horses in six towns along the Pacific Coast of Nicaragua.

Background: Students, at a secondary upper school, attending a practical programme have a lower physical capacity than students from theoretical programs. Our physical self-esteem has a great significance for our motivation in being physically active and thereby also for our health. The purpose: of this study is to find out if there is a difference between perceived physical self-esteem and objectively measured physical activity between students attending a practical programme and a theoretical programme. Method: Four classes, in a medium-sized town in the southeast of Sweden, participated in the study, two classes from practical programmes and two classes from theoretical programmes. All the students were in their final year at the upper secondary school, when they were part of the study during the autumn of 2011.

The incidence of damage to the claws and legs in piglets caused by the floor in farrowing pens is a widely known problem and very common in today's pig herds. Although the association between floor and damage has been known for over 35 years, no suitable solution has been found to reduce the negative impact. The purpose of this study was to make a literature study to document the experiences of the use of different types of flooring in farrowing pens and also, in an own study, examine if soft floor in farrowing crates could lead to reduced damage to the claws and legs in piglets compared to concrete floor. The study was conducted in two herds, A and B. In each herd, farrowing pens with concrete floor and concrete floor with polyurethane coating were compared.

I Sverige dör de flesta människor på någon form av institution, vilket innebär att palliativ vård är en del av det vardagliga vårdarbetet. Studiens syfte var att belysa vårdarens möte med vuxna patienter med fokus på vårdarens omvårdnadskvaliteter i palliativ vård. Metoden som användes var litteraturstudie. Resultatet visar att mötet i palliativ vård utvecklas mest positivt om vårdaren har ett professionellt förhållningssätt och om relationen är tillitsfull. Det professionella förhållningssättet genomsyras av vårdarens empati, intresse för patienten och kommunikation mellan vårdare och patient, både verbal och icke-verbal.

Syfte: Syftet med studien är att belysa förutsättningar och hinder för att förtroende skapas mellan vårdare och patient med långvarig smärta. Metod: Författarna har använt sig av en litteraturstudie med kvalitativ inriktning. Studien är baserad på fyra vetenskapliga artiklar och två avhandlingar. Materialet har analyserats med hjälp av Burnards analysmetod. Resultat: Resultatet visar att patienter med långvarig smärta kan ha svårt att känna förtroende för sjuksköterskan. Att ha barn eller ett syskon som är sjukt i cancer innebär en stor omställning för alla familjemedlemmar och skapar många nya upplevelser. Varje familjemedlem ser dessa upplevelser olika beroende på kön, ålder, stödjande miljöer både på sjukhuset och privat samt cancerns art. Syftet har varit att beskriva familjemedlemmars upplevelser i den förändrade familjesituation som uppstår i samband med cancer hos barn. Studien har genomförts som en litteraturstudie, där resultatet bygger på skönlitterära böcker skrivna av familjemedlemmar till barn med cancer. Resultatet presenterades i olika kategorier (upplevelser), dessa var rädsla, utsatthet, skuld, ilska, sorg, trygghet och glädje/tacksamhet och det visade sig att familjemedlemmarna upplevde dessa situationer på olika sätt.
