Studiebibliotek Halland En undersökning av folkbibliotekariens åsikter om sitt arbete med vuxenstuderande
The purpose of this Master thesis is to investigate issues concerning the role of the public librarian and their work with adult learners. This is done by examining Studiebibliotek Halland, a project initiated and financed by Kulturrådet, with the aim of improving for adult learners to use the public libraries in Halland. The major questions raised in this study are: How do the librarians interviewed experience their role as public librarian since the number of adult learners at the public library has increased? In what way do the librarians think they have to change their work in order to meet the demands of the adult learners? How do they feel about the change? Do they think their work will change more as a result of the project? Data was collected through interviews and the study is a qualitative study. The main results are that the librarians have a very positive attitude towards adult learners using the public library.
Att lyckas med "det svåra" : En kvalitativ studie om att återetablera sin karriär med framgång i ett nytt land
The study has examined how some immigrants have managed to reestablish their professional Careers in Sweden. Through in-depth-interviewing with six immigrant informants representing different genders, age and professional experience the process of successfully reestablishing a Career within the same professional area in Sweden as in their native country is examined.The study looked at structural and individual possibilities and obstacles which affected the individual. In addition the study looked at the personal characteristics and strategies used by the informants to overcome and succeed in adapting and reestablishing their working life. The study has drawn on human capital and social capital theory for a basic understanding of how education and skills affect. In addition the informants have surpassed structural barriers affecting many other immigrants.
"En mycket boksynt man" Karl-Gunnar Walls liv som stadsbibliotekarie och litteraturvän
The purpose of this master thesis is to describe the professional and literary life of Karl-Gunnar Wall, city librarian of Katrineholm between 1944 and 1975. Questions at issue are the reasons for Walls literary interests, Walls choice of occupation, crucial personal meetings, the context in which Wall acts, Walls fundamental principles as a librarian and as a critic, and the features comprising Walls life history. The method used is a merely qualitative one called "life history". It is founded on in-depth interviews with the persons involved and emanates from the individuals own story about his life. I have carried out three taped interviews; one with Wall himself, and two with his colleagues.

Disciplinär eller curlingfostran : En kvalitativ studie om vilka strategier fyra mödrar använder sig av för att fostra sina barn
The vast majority of parents want their children to succeed and become successful in one way or the other. The very first is that the child will graduate from school. In today?s society which is characterized by Career-driven parents, especially mothers, one wonders if somewhere along the way parents are prioritizing their own Careers over their children?s school achievements. This might be true in some cases, but in others it could merely be that parents are expecting more from their children?s future.
Allt kan ske under solen : Kvinnors karriärväg till chefsposition
Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva och analysera kvinnors karriärväg till chefsposition. Studien fokuserade på vilken betydelse de strategiska studie- och yrkesvalen respektive tillfälligheterna har haft under karriärvägen. Sex kvinnor i chefsposition, som samtliga arbetade i en och samma Kommun i Mellansverige medverkade i studien. Analysen utgår från kvinnornas karriärval samt de två karriärvalsteorierna Careership theory och Planned Happenstance theory. Den teoretiska basen bestod av forskning kring kvinnors karriärval och hur strategi respektive tillfälligheter inverkade.
Palliativ vård i hemmet - närståendes erfarenheter
Abstract Background: More and more people receiving palliative care in the home, leading to increased responsibility for the next of kin. Being a caregiver and at the same time next of kin is a complex situation for everyone involved. Next of kin´s everyday life changes drastically when everything revolves around the one who is seriously ill.Aim: To describe next of kin´s experiences of being caregivers to a palliative sick person at home. Method: A literature review in which eleven qualitative scientific articles were analyzed and summarized. Results: The results revealed three themes; experience of support, experience of changes in life and experience of strategies.

The purpose of this study was to enlighten the views of male social work students on; the social work profession, social work status and their Career options. Also, the study aimed at getting these students angles of approach on the fact that they, being men, are a minority group within the profession of social work. Some of the main questions were: Why does not social work as a profession seem to attract men? What about the status of the profession of social work? What were the thoughts of male social work students about this? What advantages or disadvantages did they recognise, being a minority in the profession? The method used in this study was doing separate interviews. All of the interviewed students were convinced that they had a better chance of getting a job.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how the researcher experiences its role in real life in relation to the field of education and adult learning. The context of the study is the academic department of education and adult learning in Swedish institutions. This is a qualitative study, inspired by Grounded Theory. Data consist of interviews, texts from policy documents and reports. Both the aspects gender and context have been taken into consideration.
Från främling till tvetydig svensk : En kvalitativ undersökning av namnbyte från utländskt klingande namn till svenskklingande namn
The essay, based on interviews with eight people, deals with name changes from a foreign-sounding name to Swedish-sounding name. The aim is to investigate the reasons behind the name change and whether experiences of ethnic discrimination were among these reasons. Furthermore, I explore the consequences of the name change, and whether the name change was an effective strategy to avoid ethnic discrimination. The study employs qualitative method; I carry out eight interviews with four women and four men, and analyze the empirical material by means of post-colonial theory in which categorizing, otherness and passing are significant terms. The results show that the name change takes place primarily to reduce a sense of otherness, and the discursively locked positions a foreign-sounding name creates.
Vägen till väl underbyggda val - om studie- och yrkesvägledning som tar sin början i de tidiga skolåren
Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva betydelsen av studie- och yrkesvägledande aktiviteter med barn i åldrarna sju till tolv år. Kvalitativa intervjuer genomfördes med sex examinerade studie- och yrkesvägledare som bedriver studie- och yrkesvägledningsverksamhet med barn i grundskolans år 1-6 eller fungerar som stöd till pedagoger som arbetar med studie- och yrkesorienterande verksamhet med barn i dessa åldrar. Resultatet visade att intervjupersonerna anser att arbetet måste påbörjas tidigt, helst redan i grundskolans första år, för att målen så som de skrivs fram i de nationella styrdokumenten ska kunna uppnås. De förutsättningar intervjupersonerna menade krävs för att tidig vägledning ska kunna bedrivas är av såväl strukturell som av individuell art. Slutsatsen som drogs var att studie- och yrkesvägledande aktiviteter som påbörjas i grundskolans tidigare år och som följer elevernas kognitiva utveckling kan medverka till att eleverna ökar sina förutsättningar att göra väl underbyggda val i framtiden..
Attraktiv expatriering : Före, under och efter
Syfte och utgångspunkt: Att utifrån fyra organisationer undersöka faktorer som är viktiga för arbete med expatriering och att använda Mendenhall, Dunbar och Oddous modell som inspiration för att skapa en egen modell med faktorer värdefulla för en expatrieringsprocess. Forskningsresan: Utifrån referensram samt ett empiriskt resultat av intervjuer identifieras fyra kategorier, betydelse av att ta med familjen, mentorskap och stöd, anpassning till kultur och karriärplanering. Det empiriska resultatet samt referensramen är sedan grunden till analys och slutsats. Slutsats: I slutsatsen presenteras betydelsefulla faktorer för utgången av studiens syfte. Dessa faktorer används sedan i den modell författarna skapat. Modellen visar hur behovet av de fyra kategorierna är beroende av den planerade utlandsstationeringens längd. Metod: Författarna av studien utgår från en kvalitativ ansats med djupintervjuer som metod. Kommunal styrning ur ett yrkes- och vägledarperspektiv. : Hur påverkar styrningen vägledarens uppdrag och kompensatoriska roll?
Denna studies huvudsakliga syfte är att undersöka hur studie- och yrkesvägledarnas yrkesutövning och kompensatoriska arbete påverkas av den kommunala styrningen i tre olika kommuner. Frågor som belyses är hur kommunernas policydokument lyfter fram vägledningens betydelse för kompensatorisk vägledning och hur vägledarna uppfattar styrningens påverkan. Metod som använts är tredelad, datainsamling från kommunernas styrningsdokument, enkäter till vägledare på gymnasier och grundskolor och intervjuer med två vägledare i respektive kommun. Resultatet visar att skillnader förekommer mellan kommuner, att studie- och yrkesvägledningen inte behandlas specifikt i kommunala policydokument och att styrningen ger en stark påverkan av vägledarnas möjligheter att arbeta kompensatoriskt. I två av studiens tre kommuner har steg tagits för organisatoriska ändringar och visade på ökad fokus på vägledningen.
Motiv och attityd till kompetensutveckling på två små företag
The aim of this study was to gain insight into how two enterprises work with competence development and thereby study how the relationship between competence development and workers, employees, look like. The focus was on the workers motives and motivation towards a participation in a competence development course, their attitude to education, and how the transfer of skills gained from the course, into the workplace looks like. Further on, the work situations influence on the workers competence development has been taken into account.In the study, six people were interviewed in the role of either manager, coach or course participant who are employed in two different enterprises in the south of Sweden.The results showed that the participants were motivated by a strive for personal development or that the participants viewed education implementation as a part of the professionalCareer, which has resulted in a positive attitude towards the competence development course. The managers? motive for decisions about education was to change the prevailing attitude among the staff for the better and thereby strengthen the company?s brand. The work situation has encouraged the desire to participate in developmental education as the feeling of control has encouraged the workers to further development.
Militär identitet : En kvalitativ studie om att vara anställd soldat i Försvarsmakten
My study was conducted to provide a deeper understanding of the identity of employee soldiers in the armed forces and their experience of their role in the military context. To describe and identify the soldier's identity formation, values and norms working in group processes are taken into account. As the individual identifies her or himself whit the group, the various phenomena as hostility to other military groups arise. The individuals weld together with other group members to form strong normative relationships within the group. Through a qualitative research approach eight soldiers in a regiment in western Sweden were interviewed, four of them were group executives or deputy group leaders and others were ordinary soldiers.
