Automatic milking systems (AMS) provide the opportunity for less manual labour and an increased milking frequency. But in order to reach an optimal milking frequency a well-functioning cow traffic is crucial. There are many factors affecting cow traffic but one factor that has not been studied thoroughly yet is the effect of different light intensities during the night, 22.00 h to 05.00 h. Therefore the aim of this study was to determine the effect of different light intensities during the night on number of selection gate passages (GP), milking frequency and milk yield. The study was conducted as a Latin square were three light intensities were applied: LOW (11 ± 3 lux), INT (33 ± 1 lux) and HIGH (74 ± 6 lux), in three different herds.

There is an increased pressure for firms to provide the financial market with additional information. Such disclosure is attached with different kinds of costs. In spite of these costs, and in spite of increased mandatory disclosures, firms choose to voluntary disclosure financial information to analysts and others. This indicates that firms also benefit from providing additional information. The subjects of this study is 431 annual reports from firms listed at the Stockholm Stock Exchange for 2002 and 2005 and the objective is to survey factors that can explain variations in firms? voluntary disclosure.

Social indexing is an approach to manual indexing of web content. The purpose of this master thesis has been to investigate terminological and conceptual consistency in social indexing of web content. Conceptual consistency was investigated/measured focusing on synonyms and (the use of) singular and plural forms of words. In order to measure consistency in social indexing data were obtained from the Delicious website. The data set consists of five indexed objects, 3001 tags and 239 users.

Introduction: In this study an innovative and multimodal method in family therapy called NVR, Non-Violent Resistence, is examined. NVR is an approach developed by Haim Omer, professor in psychology at the University of Tel Aviv. This approach is described as coming from the ancient ideological roots used by Gandhi in the Nonviolent resistence of oppressive regimes. NVR advocates that the parents give up the desire to control their children. Instead parents should take control of their own lives by actively resisting any behaviors of the child that are damaging.

Background: When a person suddenly pass away, the relatives often arrive to the Emergency Department under chaotic circumstances. In this critical situation the nurse has an important role for the care. Many nurses lack of knowledge about how to take care of the bereaved relatives. Aim: The aim of the literature study was to describe aspects of caring for suddenly bereaved relatives. Method: The data for the study were scientific articles found in the databases PubMed and Cinahl and from a manual search.

The purpose of this essay is mainly to study the reason behind students' visits to restaurants, and also their restaurant habits. The study also intends to find a possible difference in students dining habits among the different social classes; working class and middle class.  This study contains qualitative methods. The qualitative research method is in the shape of deep interviews with ten students from different social classes who?s registered at Södertörns  högskola. The results of this investigation show that the consumer society along with the respondent?s habitus and access to capital, has influenced and created their opinions and habits around eating out. This master thesis was made to investigate the possibilities of using the Matlab-basedsoftware Basegrain to determine grain size distributions of erosion protections onhydropower dams. Basegrain is a photogrammetric tool developed to generate grainsize distributions and other information about coarse flood sediments by analyzing adigital photo of the stone bed. The investigation was made by validating the ability forBasegrain to assess grain size distributions of various materials smaller than the blocksused in an erosion protection by comparing sieving results or manual measurementswith the results obtained by the program. A statistical comparison was then made bycomparing the results from sieving and the program. The possibilities of using thesame method on existing hydropower dams were then investigated by determiningwhether the method was practically viable or not.The results showed that Basegrain generated grain size distributions for coarse gravelthat were very close to the sieving results.

The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to investigate how librarians solve difficult reference questions. ABSTRACTThe aim of this study is to analyze the aspects which have formed music-students? interest to perform music in various ways. Two of these aspects are family and school. Furthermore, -the study analyzes what music itself, and its performance mean in these students? social and personal lives.

Denna fallstudie beskriver hur kunskap tar sig i uttryck och sprids mellan medarbetare på Nordeas telefonbank för privatkunder i Uppsala. För att analysera hur kunskap sprids har Nonakas SEKI modell för kunskapsöverföring använts som beskriver hur kunskap kan spridas genom fyra olika kanaler: socialisering, externalisering, internalisering och kombinering. Resultatet bygger på en kvantitativ enkätundersökning där 32 medarbetare deltog samt en kvalitativ intervju med Nordea Uppsalas personalchef och utbildningssamordnare. Innan undersökningen genomfördes formulerades tre hypoteser i avsikt att utreda 1) Om majoriteten av kunskapen som sprids mellan respondenterna i urvalet är implicit 2) Om det finns en skillnad mellan hur män och kvinnor tar till sig och sprider kunskap och 3) Om medarbetare med längre erfarenhet besitter mer implicit kunskap. Resultatet visar att majoriteten av den kunskap som sprids är explicit, att det finns en skillnad mellan hur män och kvinnor tar till sig och sprider kunskap och att medarbetare med längre erfarenhet besitter mer implicit kunskap.

Bakgrund: Föräldragruppsutbildning, arrangerad av barnhälsovården, ska erbjudas alla nyblivna föräldrar. Region Skåne har 2011 infört en manual med rekommendationer för hur föräldragruppsutbildningen skall läggas upp i syfte att få en mer enhetlig föräldragruppsverksamhet. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att undersöka förstagångsmammors upplevelser av föräldrastöd i grupp. Metod: Öppna individuella intervjuer genomfördes med elva förstagångsmammor. Intervjumaterialet analyserades med hjälp av kvalitativ innehållsanalys.

This means that companies need to market themselves effectively, to convince and get across their message to their customers. Marketing is an extensive process in which different factors must be taken into account. A company must know what the coustomer needs in order to get through to them.
