This master thesis has been performed at the department of Machine Design at KTH, The Royal Institute of Technology. The thesis has been a part of a global development project in collaboration with Luleå University of Technology, Lund Faculty of Engineering and Stanford University. Title: "Everybody is talking about reception but what do they really mean?" - Teacher trainers' experience of work with aesthetic communication in perspective of a receiver with a special attention to the reception of music. The purpose of this thesis is to study the notion of reception among a group of teachers at the department of education at Malmö University. Our principal aim is to illuminate reception in an educational context as well as experiences of the teachers´ work with aesthetic communication in perspective of a receiver within the main subject KME (Culture Media Aesthetics). We are paying special attention to the reception of music since this is a part of our profession.

Detta examensarbete på kandidatnivå har sin utgångspunkt i den välfärdstatliga utmaningen som Sverige och de flesta utvecklade länder står inför i form av en åldrande befolkning. Det gör att vi i framtiden kommer vara tvungna att arbeta allt högre upp i åldrarna. Idag lämnar många arbetslivet redan kring 65 års ålder, trots att det är ekonomiskt gynnsamt för dem att fortsätta arbeta. Tanken med studien har varit att genom fem halvstrukturerade livsvärldsintervjuer utforska hur äldre kvinnor inom vårdyrken ser på sin arbetssituation, yrkesmässiga självbild och framtidsutsikter. Studien har visat att dessa är intimt förknippade med varandra och tillsammans ger en möjlig förklaring till varför alla fem planerar lämna arbetslivet inom några år.

In early January 2010 the authors participated in a meeting with the chief engineer for a company in which a central part is manufacturing of printed circuit boards (PCB). At this meeting it emerged that the machinery and production methods have changed substantially since the early 1990's. The spreadsheet for preliminary production time calculations by the company is today based on conditions from almost 20 years ago. The company has over the years been trying to adjust the spreadsheet template. The result of these adjustments has filled it with historical residue, something which makes the template difficult and time consuming when the primary user tries to handle it.The purpose of this study was to help the company increase its accuracy in the representation of the production times for the different PCB-based products by developing a new costing model based on an already existing but inadequate spreadsheet template. The company also expressed the wish that the new costing model would be less time consuming to work with.The methods used to achieve the goal are interviewing, participatory observations and meetings with relevant persons. The data obtained were analyzed using the theory on PCB production and visualization of data.

In this study we examine four Swedish newspapers? visual coverage of the Tunisian and Egyptian uprisings in 2010 and 2011 ? commonly known as the ?Arab Spring Revolution?, the ?Jasmine revolution? and in Sweden also the ?Women?s revolution? ? focusing on three main perspectives: news values and framing, postcolonialism, and gender.By means of a comprehensive content analysis and an in-depth semiotic analysis, the purpose of this study is to investigate how Swedish written media frames the revolution and its initiators and partakers through news photographs, headlines, lead paragraphs and photograph bylines, and to determine whether or not it reproduces earlier trends of media coverage and framing of non-Westerners and non-Western societies.The purpose of the extensive content analysis is to attain data for empirical research of the visual portrayal of the uprisings? first twelve weeks in Sweden?s four largest newspapers Dagens Nyheter, Svenska Dagbladet, Aftonbladet and Expressen. The analysis reveals that episodic framing is regularly used in all four newspapers, and that media demonizes Tunisians and Egyptians by constructing them as a brutal, uncivilized and threatening group which almost exclusively consists of men, and whose members are neither quoted nor named. It also shows that women are symbolically annihilated by media and that the very few women who do occur are gender stereotyped in accordance with established media conventions and postcolonial tradition, with the interesting exception of women being quoted to a larger extent than men. The analysis furthermore confirms the low occurrence of female journalists in Swedish foreign reporting, as well as demonstrates that the gender of the journalists does not influence what types of stories are written or how they are framed.The variable frequencies obtained from the content analysis provide indicators which are subsequently explored in the semiotic analysis of four news photographs.

Landskapsarkitektur påverkar den fysiska miljöns utseende och funktion och därmed hur människor lever sina liv. Den här uppsatsen har skrivits för att undersöka hur ett genusperspektiv kan användas inom landskapsarkitektur. Målet är att mer specifikt undersöka hur planering och gestaltning kan bidra till en jämställdhetsfrämjande aktivitetspark. Idén bakom uppsatsen kommer dels från mitt eget intresse för hur landskapsarkitektur kan användas som ett redskap för samhällsförändring. Dels kommer det från en specifik förfrågan från Fritidsförvaltningen i Landskrona som vill undersöka hur en skejtpark skulle kunna locka en bredare målgrupp.

Tack vare barnens livliga fantasi kan enkla utformningar i utomhusmiljö få dem att leka. Leken är en viktig del i barnens liv, det är vi nog alla överens om. Menfrågan är var barnen får plats att leka i dagens allt tätare städer?Det här arbetet syftar till att undersöka om gågatan i Uppsala utgör en lekmiljö för stadens barn samt hur den, utifrån denna aspekt, kan förbättras. För attundersöka detta genomförde jag en analys av tidigare forskning om barns lek.Analysen resulterade i ett antal attribut som lockar barn till lek:Föränderlighet ? Barn fascineras av fysiska förändringar som väder ochnaturprocesser bidrar med.Liten skala ? Genom detaljer och rumslighet kan man skapa känslan aven mindre skala vilket bidrar till att barnen får lättare att identifiera sigmed omgivningen.

AbstractInom forskningen kring personliga hemsidor på Internet har fokus främst riktats mot identitetskonstruktion, hur jaget presenteras och de psykologiska och sociologiska orsakerna som ligger bakom. Min studie tar ett steg ifrån detta och integrerar studiet av den personliga hemsidan med studiet av den politiska hemsidan. Jag undersöker relationen mellan det personliga och det politiska på svenska privata feministiska hemsidor. Jag har intervjuat fyra skapare och analyserat sju hemsidor. Sammantaget utgör min studie en empirisk neddykning i de svenska privata feministiska hemsidor som finns tillgängliga på Internet anno höst 2003 och vår 2004.

Detta arbete undersöker hur identitet skapas, i lek med roller och visuella uttryck, hur föreställningar om identitet och livsstil konstruerar och konstrueras, genom ett genomgående exempel: klädföretaget och fenomenet Gudrun Sjödén. Syftet är att behandla mediers och bilders betydelse för den aktiva identitetskonstruktionen i ett konsumtionssamhälle, sett ur ett sociokulturellt perspektiv ? vad bilder gör med oss och vad vi gör med dem. Undersökningen syftar även till att utforska didaktiska metoder som kan användas inom bildämnet, dvs. att undersöka med visualitet i fokus, samt genom en gestaltande metodik.Undersökningen bygger på studiet av en klädbutik, min gestaltande metod, samt intervjuer med kvinnliga bildlärare.

Political scandals are constantly abound in the media, rulers face the global tribunal of the mass media and are forced to defend their actions and above all, their position in society. This essay concerns itself with that defence ? more specifi- cally with the defence of four Swedish politicians in high office during four different scandals. Gudrun Schymans? eva- sion, Laila Freivalds? dealing with the tsunami disaster in Thailand, Annie Lo?o?fs? tangle concerning representation notes and public documents and Tobias Billstro?ms? statements concerning undocumented immigrants and asylum seekers.

In connection with the property crises in many countries, caused by the financial crises, people are now more aware of the risks involved in poor property-investments. The unusually cold winters along with extreme prices of electricity in Sweden in recent years has also contributed to increased interest in energy-efficient buildings.The process of developing a modern family home in Kiruna, Sweden is presented the first part of this paper. The house has been designed to withstand very high stresses from snow, low energy consumption as well as a high standard of living comfort. Aspects of the house covered here involves everything from construction, heating and ventilation to sanitation. Each of these areas is presented based on their underlying, scientific methods or theories.

I följande uppsats studeras hur talutrymmet i tid är fördelat mellan kvinnor och män i SVT:s Debatt. Programmet är ett forum för åsiktsyttringar från både makthavare och vanligt folk och har upp till 700 000 tittare. Sveriges Television är ett public service-bolag som har ett avtal med staten om att göra demokratisk tv vilket gör frågan om hur de lyckas med könsfördelningen intressant. Vi utgår i huvudsak från feministiska teorier, men även från teorier om offentlighet och mediernas makt. Vår tes är att den fysiska representationen av kvinnor och män är ungefär jämnt fördelad i Debatt, men att kvinnor får mindre talutrymme och blir avbrutna i större utsträckning än män.

I dag arbetar konstruktionsavsnittet vid BAE Systems Hägglunds i Örnsköldsvik i stor utsträckning digitaliserat med 3D-modeller och data för att skapa konstruktionsunderlag. Funktioner som följer efter konstruktion så som produktionsförberedelser och produktion har dock ännu inte övergått till att kunna ta emot och nyttja den typen av digitaliserad data och pappersritningen är därför fortfarande en viktig leverabel. Att gå över till ett digitaliserat flöde av data från konstruktion till produktion skulle kunna ge betydande effektiviseringar och kortare ledtider i produktframtagningsprocessen.Syftet med detta examensarbete var att utreda vilka lösningar som finns tillgängliga på marknaden i dag samt hur dessa skulle se ut och fungera hos BAE Systems Hägglunds. Examensarbetet skulle också undersöka vilka för- och nackdelar som finns med dessa lösningar samt vilka merkostnader och besparingar som finns. Examensarbetet riktades mot det egna montaget vid företaget i Örnsköldsvik.För att uppfylla dessa syften har en omfattande nuläges- och omvärldsanalys genomförts.

Sara Lidman?s first novel, Tjärdalen (The Tar Pit, 1953), addresses ethical issues in a remote village in the north of Sweden. This essay discusses the novel?s narrative technique and the ethical aspects implied by the narration and aesthetic design. The approach is based on Adam Zachary Newton?s narrative ethics, which links narrative theory and method with an ethical perspective.
